If you are reading my other thread about soy products you'll see I made a comment in there about the dangers of chlorine bleached tampons. If not here is one article

I use the diva cup now-its more expensive up front but cheaper in the long run since you only buy it once a year and the cleaner lasts quite a while. The companies that produce tampons have their own studies claiming that there aren't the negative affects from exposure or using them-but for me personally I would rather use the diva-not only for health reason but for environmental purposes (and believe it or not it's more comfortable).

i know this is the Hangout area but it does seem that the more appropriate area might be Family/Health? lots of talk there re womens' health issues........

I used the Diva Cup for a while after reading about it here on PS. First, I loved it. But then I just got a bit grossed out by it and stopped using it.

I told my sister about it and she LOVES using the Diva Cup.

I tried it but it intensified my cramps something awful. I think it had something to do with the pressure it was placing around my cervix but i don't know.

Yes. Heard about it on PS and have been using ever since. More comfortable for me than the other options. Tried the old standards a couple of months ago and actually thought that was ickier than the diva.

Possible TMI warning (as is this whole thread  )

Tried it a while ago... I think the part that bothered me was taking it out, cleaning it and putting it back in again... What if youre in a public place? What if the toilet and sink are separated? At the time, I was living with my parents and the toilet part of the bathroom was separate from the sink/shower/etc so washing it was a pain. Dump it, waddle, wash, insert. Wiggle around to make sure its in right.... I get in in THEORY but in practice it was a pain. Too many issues (Please dont pop awkwardly when I pull you out, please dont spill on me, now I have the grossest hands ever). When I started Yaz and "that time" got "light," well, I just didn't feel like I needed that whole huge cup anymore!

I've been using the Diva cup for 6 years now. I love it!

It actually sits very low, actually sometimes the pointy part sticks out of the body when I first put it in.

I go back and forth. I love it when I use it but sometimes it takes several times to get it in right, and sometimes I don't have time to deal with that and I'll use a tampon. But I love that I can wear it virtually all day, so changing it in public is never an issue.
