Aero bars!! I am so sad that you can only find them in the states in little British food stores, so they''re uber expensive.

Ketchup chips.

Do you have a World Market near you? They often carry Canadian candy bars, I think I''ve seen Aero there. You can also get dill pickle chips in some places, but they aren''t the kind that are so strong your tastebuds flee your tongue in fear, it''s disgraceful. Who wants a wussy dill pickle chip?!
38.gif
No all-dressed Ruffles either.

Have you tried the Limon flavoured chips down here? I think we need to export them into Canada.

From Portugal - little custards (very similar to the Chinese ones) called pastel de nata. I need to make some at home.

Whitby (and other Aussies in the US) - Pepperidge Farm is selling Tim Tams now, but only during the cooler months. They''re the originals too - just Americanized packaging.

I saw that! It made me do a happy dance in the grocery store (and my BF really wishes I was lying).

I am actually getting fatter reading this thread.

I can''t remember the names, but I love trying different chocolate bars, etc. when I''m traveling to places outside the US. There are also a few flavored potato chips that I''ve tried and found interesting. I can''t say I miss them but they were fun to try.

When I lived in Sweden, I had this traditional dish that I loved. It was boiled potatoes with ground meat (I think) inside. It was served with lingonberry sauce, and it was really good. I have no idea how to make it, but I must have loved it considering I still think of this dish occasionally (it''s been 21 years since I''ve been there).

I don''t know what part of Texas you''re in, but if you''re in the Dallas area I can recommend a great cheesesteak place. They also sell tastykakes and utz chips!

As for me, I crave tacos from Juan''s Hacienda in Dallas. Hands down the best tacos I''ve ever hand anywhere. I used to buy their taco meat and freeze it and take it with me back home to wherever I lived. But they closed and I miss them.

Other things that I used to love and can''t get anymore are Snapple Cherry Lime Rickey sodas and Kudos Cookies ''n Cream bars.

From the UK:

Pork and stuffing sandwiches (they were my crack when I was there, I wanted them all the time even if I wasn''t hungry. The ones here just arn''t the same)
Chips from the fish and chip shop by BFs parents house (best chips I''ve had in my life ever!)
Pears (Just tasted better over there)

When I moved down South (USA), I missed ah-so sauce marinade (used to marinate my chicken wings), roast beef sandwiches w/cheese and sauce, and true Italian subs.

When I moved back North, I missed shrimp & grits, collard greens and great BBQ.

the egg towers? I ate a tower of them the other day :D

Oh man. From Sydney... there was an outdoor mall area where my dad lived and it contained a little cafe that made hot scones to order and served them with double cream and fresh homemade by the owner preserves. To die for. And there was a Greek Seafood restuarant there that had some of the best seafood ever. We used to go there once a week. So freaking amazing.

From Italy, I miss the vinegar. These little restuarants would make their own wine from a little portion of grapes on thier property and make their own vinegar for salads with it. I adore just a Mista salad with olive oil and ''real'' vinegar. And the Porchini mushroom pizzas. Fungi Porchini. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. So amazing and you just can''t get them out here.

From Switzerland I used to miss the mustard, but I found a place that imports some decent stuff. The sausages though... oh man. I miss the sausage street vendors. So good.

But most of all. In Lugano there was a bakery that made the BEST chocolate eclairs with chocolate filling. All swiss chocolate. Tempered chocolate for the outside, rich dark pastry cream chocolate (not a lot of sugar, just chocolate) on the inside. And small. The size of your middle ring finger in width.

Ash just got back from Europe and spent a lot of time in Switzerland, I can''t wait for her to give me the chocolate she bought. Oh and she went to the Patek Phillipe Watch museum and bought me a book...

Once it runs out, I will miss it for sure. I loved going to Switzerland as a kid, we had family there.

Heck the one thing I have been missing for 2 years now??? My chocolate covered potato chips by Assher candies. They stopped making them. Grrrrr.

Bramley cooking apples

You have a good trip back home - eat yourself silly!

Maisie and Jen, can you send me a care package?

Edited to add: I've just burnt the bl**dy dinner, by concentrating on this little lot

Kaleigh,

There is hope yet to reunite with your long lost love

Is this what you''ve been missing for 2 years? It may be the same thing? See the link below...

http://www.ashers.com/products/234-75-oz-milk-chocolate-covered-potato-chips

I''ve seen this product. It''s available in Canada...they sell them in a bookstore called Chapters (like Borders in the US). I''ve tried them...they are delish!

mmm.. have to add: In Maryland: Crab soups, crab benedicts, and crab cakes. Good ones. In New Jersey: PJ''s restuarant food and pizza. And white pies. Mmmmm. In Texas: Brisket.

I love swiss chocolate. My aunt lives there and I used to get shipments several times a year. Now though, I don''t speak to my dad''s family so no chocolate. Of course, since my biggest regret is the lack of chocolate, I figure I made the right decision.

I hope Ash had a great time. I really enjoyed my visit out there.

Twizzlers Pull and Peel Tropical tornado... they stopped making it, which is tragic.

Also, Goombay Punch from the Bahamas,

Real Jerk Chicken from Jamaica

Bar None (or None Bars) I think by Hershey... loved them as a child, also discontinued.

I''ll start of course

From Australia the list is a mile long, but meat pies, vanilla slice, potato cakes, kebabs, and aussie cadbury chocolate are all up there!

From childhood i miss when you could go down to the milk bar (corner store? not sure if milk bar is a phrase outside of Australia) and buy 50cents worth of lollies. And you would pick every single lolly because they all cost one or two cents! And im pretty sure i felt i was rich with that 50cents.

The poor shopkeepers who had to deal with all us misbehaving children though
9.gif
Mmmmmm... the little bakery around the corner from me makes the BEST vanilla slice in the entire world.

I''ll post you one if you send me some dark chocolate reese''s PB cups.

From travelling to the US I miss buffalo burgers, alaskan king crab legs, that powdered apple cider mix. Decent margaritas (and the mexican restaurants generally). After my trip to New York I was seriously pining for Junior''s cheesecake.

From France - macarons, cheese, tartiflette.
