Food that you REFUSE to eat

There isn''t anything that I would actually refuse. There are three things that I dislike though. Canned creamed corn, Miracle Whip, and Lima Beans.

Other than that, I''m good to go. I''ve eaten a lot of raw meat (tartare, sushi, ceviche), and I love beets, mushrooms, and the majority of things on most of your lists.

Sea Urchin - I can''t stand the stuff, even though it is an Asian delicacy.

Pardon me... what is OKRA?

It''s a vegetable that is commonly used in stews and gumbos. It''s green and gets a bit gummy when soaked in liquid.

I was a very picky eater as a kid, but I have become quite adventurous over the past decade. I love a wide variety of meat, including game and organ meat. There are some dishes that are truly horrible if not prepared properly, but can be amazing in the hands of a talented chef (such as sweetbreads and sardines). I have no problem eating Bambi or Thumper or Donald if they are cooked properly so the meat is not dry (bacon-wrapped rabbit in mustard sauce = yum!)

Off the top of my head, I can only think of a few foods that I will never try (or never try again). I cannot stand okra or brussel sprouts, and I would not try tripe or bugs.

Powdered milk.
As a little girl we were so poor this is all we had. I detest it. When we were able to get ''real'' milk, my sister would half it or third it to make more ''real'' milk..

I refuse to eat beets. Mom had a garden so we''d have fresh vegetables and she pickled beets all the time. Gross. I am pretty traditional as far as what I like to eat.. and I don''t generally go off the page, so to speak. I''m just not that brave.

I am however, a fan of Olive Garden salad and breadsticks..

LOL, I used to love Olive Garden as a kid. Now, I don''t care for most of their entrees, but I still love the unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks lunch.

Strawberries.
I am very allergic to them. I get a rash on my skin if I even touch one, and my throat swells up and I can't breathe if I eat one. I also get terrible hives if I eat a strawberry, but that just doesn't seem like a big deal compared to the not-being-able-to-breathe thing.

I'll pretty much *try* anything else, though.

ETA: I don't buy anything with hydrogenated oils or palm oil in it. I suppose you could say I refuse to eat foods with those ingredients in them.

Mara - the only cottage cheese I will eat is the knudsen in the pink - I LOVE that stuff and I positively hate hate hate all other cottage cheese. It''s drier and has more of a fresh milk taste and not a sour or old milk taste. There is almost nothing in the world I cannot stand more than even "average" cottage cheese... but there are few things I like more than that stuff... with nothing but maybe a little pepper and a tomato.

My mother in law makes the best soup with hominy and I have made it my own... I cannot imagine eating it any way other than this. A bowl with butter or something would be vile! The soup is good though, love it! lol

A few things in here I don''t know what they are, but I''ll take everyone''s word that they''re icky.

My best friend likes squash soup. I think she''s crazy. Squash and beets taste like dirt. I can''t eat steak or burger if it''s the slightest bit pink. My family gets ticked b/c I take it and examine it in various forms of light b/c some light makes meat look pink even if it isn''t. When we fry fish, I tear it apart to look for bones and carefully place them on the side of my plate and loudly inform dad (who is usually the one who debones them) how many I''ve found. Sometimes I get grossed out by the smell of browning hamburger and can''t cook it, or eat it.

I will eat anything once. I actually like snails when prepared correctly. I also LOVE calamari. Yum

I absolutely detest coconut. The texture and taste = ewie.

BLUEBERRIES. Ew, ew, ew.

Live animals

Animals that look like they did when they were alive

Animal organs

Nuts (I''m deathly allergic)

Shellfish (also allergic)

Kiwi and mango (also allergic)

Raw tomatoes or onions

Avocado

Green olives

Turkey

There are a lot more I just don''t eat, but these are the ones I really refuse to eat.
No avocados?

Pardon me... what is OKRA?

Okra is a pepper that was consumed by a slimy snail and pooped out whole.

Ooh, me neither! FI tricked me into eating it once (well, it went into my mouth but I can''t claim to have actually "eaten" it because I spat it out pretty fast). I also won''t eat organ meats, hot dogs, pork products, or most prepared foods that come in cans or packages. I dislike most shellfish, but I keep trying it in hopes that I''ll like it someday...hasn''t happened yet, though.

I used to be vegetarian but after FI and I moved in together, I started eating some meat again -- as long as it''s natural or organic at the least, but preferably humanely raised on pasture. Still, I rarely eat meat when I don''t know where it came from.

I''m surprised at all of the beet haters, I love beets.

There are very few foods that I refuse to eat, the list would include all organ meat, feet, tongues, testicles, brains, etc. Anything else is fair game although I prefer not to eat processed foods, meals in a can, etc.

I am blessed to live in Vancouver, we eat so well here, fresh seafood, ethnic cuisine galore due to our diverse population...Japanese

I have tried it!!! The taste is fine. The texture is a problem for me though.

There are a lot of things I would never eat, but as far as stuff I would see on a day to day basis, here goes:

mayo (even if a knife that had mayo on it was used to cut my sandwich, I couldn''t eat the sandwich)
sour cream
cream cheese

Honestly, I don''t even know what they taste like - I am just repulsed by the idea/smell/look of them that I can''t do it!

Things that I absolutely won''t touch... I will pick it out of the dish.
1. peas
2. celery
3. liver (except foie gras)
4. pickle

I guess I would eat these if my life depended on it but I''d really rather not...
artichokes
gizzards (way too chewy for me!)
okra
bugs-fried, chocolate dipped, whatever (would probably die of starvation before I ate one!)

Otherwise, I''ll try most anything at least once and I like alot of "strange" foods... raw oysters, pickled herring, escargot, veal, creamed corn, frog legs, pretty much anything!

I usually have a "try anything once" mentality, but I absolutey froze in front of dried, salted grasshoppers. I couldn''t bear to think of eating them.

I won''t eat:

bananas (the smell, the taste and texture)
most shell fish
organs (but I love well prepared, skinned tongue)

I almost forgot...

I will NOT eat cooked celery. In fact, if it has cooked celery in it, don''t tell me because I will instantly not like it.

Hate chicken/lentil/pea/any kind of soup that has that tons of soft celery pieces floating around...and the smell! - yuck!

raw celery I like!

I refuse to eat asparagus. It makes your pee smell!

I know it''s silly lol.

Oh and beetroots. They taste like dirt!!!

Foie gras and veal, because of the animal cruelty.
