For me it is canned spaghetti. It looks like long white slimy worms disguised in tomato sauce.

Ick.

I don''t know why I won''t eat it, considering I have eaten things which are admittedly way more disgusting-looking that spaghetti in a can.

There are some foods I don't like but will eat.

This is a list of what I refuse to eat:
Salad dressings, mayo, ketchup, mustard, relish, tartar sauce, beets, anchovies, canned fish, caviar, sushi, ceviche, mussels, oysters, animal organs, meat pate, foie gras, veal.
Much of French food is full of stuff I won't eat.

That's what comes to mind now.
I'm sure there's more.
Childhood was torture.
Power struggles at every meal.

I recently read being a picky eater is hereditary.

Not too much anymore. I didn't used to like a lot of stuff, but since meeting Greg almost 10 years ago...my palate has broadened considerably. He eats almost anything and absolutely loves unusual foods so as a result I have tried almost everything. Now i love raw sushi, oysters, mussels...things I would never eat before...my inner foodie has been released!

The only things I can think of that I absolutely won't eat are lamb, veal, foie gras/liver. And I'm not keen on gamey meats like rabbit or venison etc.

lol kenny, I love ceviche. There is a restaurant in SF that has about 8 diff types. So yummy!

I have a friend who dated a very picky boyfriend. He would ONLY eat canned foods...and adored Olive Garden. She said it was horrible trying to do anything together, they were so limited. The relationship didn't last long!

Pickled herring. Tomatoes-I''ll either pick them out if they''re in something, or if they''re small enough I''ll just swallow and not chew. Same with peppers. I like the taste of them in foods, but I don''t want to eat them. Mushrooms I don''t mind so much anymore on pizza but that''s it. JD swoons over Morell mushrooms and goes hunting for them every year and just looking at them makes me want to vomit. He had them soaking in a bowl w/a lid over it and it gave me the heebie jeebies. They remind me of carbuncles or brains or something. Also, if it has eyes or a face still on it-I don''t want it near me. JD loves crawfish and it makes my skin crawl. When we were in Vegas we ate at some World buffet that had them and he and my dad kept arranging them on their plates so they were staring at me. I''ve lost my taste for wild game too.

OMG!
Canned food is gross.
I didn''t even own a can opener till someone gave me a fancy one as a gift.
I never eat canned foods but live in Souther California so I''m spoiled by year-round fresh produce.

Most kinds of seafood, especially the more 'exotic' stuff. I enjoy tuna, and I'll eat shrimp and crab legs on occasion, but that's about it. And if it's raw, no way.

What else...

- Veal (never have, never will)
- Beets
- Mushrooms (unless they're hidden in a sauce)
- Animal organs or exotic meat

I'm planning on becoming a vegetarian soon, so all meat will be out as well.

Beets
Liver
Cows Tongue ( oh the horrow of opening up the fridge when I was little and seeing a huge ole cows tongue !!! )
Brussel sprouts
Mussels
Oysters
Herring in cream sauce ( Hubby has a jar of it in the fridge, I may have to pitch it or put it in the back... I hurl just looking at it. )

I love the idea of mussels, but they are too gritty for me, but love the sauce they are cooked in. I adore clams, Lobster, shrimp and crabs..

Mara,
Glad your friend moved on. Canned food grosses me out. And Olive Garden?? Not a fan, LOL!!!!

Ranch dressing. Doritos. Any olive other than the jarred green ones with red pits. Also nasty sloppy "Mexican" food.

I''m one of those people that gets excited about the opportunity to eat something different or new, so I will give pretty much any food a fair shot.

That said, ditto about canned food - not a good thing. I''m not a fan of really fishy tasting fish or gamey meats (like duck). The only food that kinda makes me squeamish on the concept is foie gras, but I''d probably try it anyway if given the opportunity. Ohhh and picked pigs feet - haven''t really gotten excited or curious enough to try that, either.

For the record, I enjoy pickled herring - the creamy kind with onions. It''s a holiday thing in my house.

Meat and fish and seafood. That''s about it. I will eat almost anything else even if it is not really good. I hate to waste food and have eaten vegetable soup for the last 3 days that my family wouldn''t eat. The good news is that today I finished it. Hip Hip Hooray!

Too funny about the person only eating canned foods and Olive garden; yeah I am not of fan of Olive Garden either!

hmmm

well, weird meats like liver, tongue etc
Green chile. It smells wonderful but I think I am allergic because I get super sick every time I eat it.
Doritos, I am w/you on that Thing, the smell even makes me sick!
Raw Onions
14.gif

Peppers

I usually will try everything at least once so I am becoming a less picky eater.

Sardines
Chicken Salad
Pimento Cheese
Egg Salad, etc
Rabbit
Sushi
Since Kaleigh brought it up, cows tongue. Like, seriously? Who in their right mind would eat that?
Tuna

Powdered milk.

There are a whole bunch of things I dislike and won''t really eat, but something that I flat out REFUSE to eat EVER is oranges (or orange juice). My father is the same exact way - not sure why, but we''re both like this. The smell of oranges or even the sight makes me nauseous. I actually need to leave a room when someone is eating an orange because it makes me feel so ill.

OMG.... i love oysters, duck and gamey meats (as you guys call it) LOL

I must also admit that I have eaten chicken feet and cow''s tongue and cheek...

Asians have a lot of delicacies that Westerners generally won''t eat. BTW, they are quite delicious

Other food that I won''t eat:
1. Deli Meats
2. Beef pie
3. Raw Fish (with salmon being the only exception)

I don''t mind the taste of raw fish, but the slimy texture really puts me off.

Ok,

calamari
liver pate
beets
sweetbreads (brains) and other parts like tongue, disgusting
sushi
tartare
hospital food (!!)
sardines

I know there may be a few more, really I''m not too picky.
And I don''t like Olive Garden or most chain restaurants either.

J E L L O !

I am more turned off by texture than taste. Now that I am pregnant, I dislike even more foods, but when I am "normal" my Bad List is a lot shorter.

Stinky cheese
Veal (I get sad thinking about baby cows) or other "unique" meats
Fried eggs (scrambled is ok in small amounts)
Cottage cheese
Pancakes

Okra(sp)
lobster or crustations
sasage or hotdogs

lamb
fois Gras
Cotija cheese
bleu cheeese
fontina cheese
corned beef
mussels
oysters

Powdered milk. I am a scientist and I use it in the lab on a daily basis as a blocking reagent. When I smell it at home, I automatically associate it with the lab, and don''t feel comfortable touching it without gloves. Strange, I know.

And corn chips - bluk!!!!!!!!!!!1

Onions, I cannot stand them. If I take a bite and didn''t realize it was in there...it''s not going down. This also includes green onions, scallions, shallots...nope they do not work for me! (but I love garlic)
Peas! Yuck, gross! Even as a kid i would gag trying to get them down so that I could leave the table.
Mushrooms, blaaaah.
Raw oysters, ewwwww.
Almost all beans, I can handle kidney beans so I can start eating chilli now.

I can''t remember everything else that I can''t stand, but I''m pretty picky eater.

Most meats

Tomato ketchup-absolute fear of it.

Celery

cottage cheese

Beets. Gag.
Okra in any form. Double gag.

Canned food (unless we''re talking soup or addatives to cooking like chicken broth)
Game (rabbit, venison, etc.)
Raw fish
Offal
Pickled fish
Smoked salmon

I have a hard time w/ stringy foods such as cooked spinach and spaghetti noodles.

SPAM!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!

I don''t really like meat and wil avoid eating it as much as possible, except for an occasional grilled chicken as long as there are tons of veggies. (As a child I didn''t want to eat the meat my mom cooked, like spam, ham, steak (it was dry like leather)so I ate up all my veggies. Mom didn''t make me eat the meat I guess because there was never a morsel of veggies left on my plate. She was happy about that)

Nothing canned, nothing pre-prepared and frozen. ( I make my own pizza, but I do buy the canned sauce)

I don''t like the ethnic food my MIL prepares like pierogies, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa (so fatty and greasy), but I will eat the borscht (as long it is red and not made with cream). She was always angry at me for not eating whatever she made. Funny thing my DH doesn''t miss her food at all. He said he always had stomach problems until I began cooking for him. (Also, I once made the mistake when I was first dating DH of saying I don''t care for Polish food and she hit the roof because they are not Polish. I didn''t know.)

There are lots of things I will not eat...
Veal
Venison
Rabbit
Duck
Liver
Oysters
Sushi
Any "game" type meats that I may have looked over.

Foie gras/ liver
durian fruit
stinky tofu

I used to not eat raw fish but am slowly branching out and expanding my sushi palette.
