Sorry if there''s been a thread like this before, but we have some new brides and whatnot so it''s worth asking. I''ve read it should be like 10% of your total budget. We''re getting quotes and I am wondering how they compare to what people spend in general. I don''t want to spend more than I should/have to on flowers..that''s one of my non-splurge cheapskate items. So...What''s your floral budget?

Our whole wedding was about $8000 and we spent $400 on flowers. My bouquet was fairly large and I guess about $150. Bridesmaids were $30ish and had 1 stem of each flower (stock, calla, sweetpea), bouts were 8ish and corsages were 25 maybe. I didn''t go to a fancy floral designer... just a local florist.

The only problem I had that I think a higher budget would have solved was that the ribbons, etc she added were kinda cheapy. I took alot of them off since I asked for no bows anyway so it didn''t make a huge difference.

$1500 but the retail value is over $6000. My mom''s best friend owns a high end flowere shop so we got very lucky with the flowers.

I spent about $1000, for my bouquet and 5 bms, about 10 bouts, 6 corsages, flower girl basket, flowers for the cake, flower petals and votives to decorate the tables, really small centerpieces for 20 tables, plus 2 ceremony arrangements and pew bows. I feel like I really got a lot for my money, and the only thing I feel like I specifically kept to a budget was the centerpieces.

Wow, to everyone''s budgets!

My co-worker is arranging the flowers for free for my wedding gift....she''s incredibly talented. All I have to do is pay for the flowers from the wholesale she gets them from. She''s been quoting me about $250 for everything I need. 110-12 centerpieces, Ceremony decorations, 3 bots and 3 Bouquets.

my floral budget is $300....but my "decorations" budget is also $300......but i guess if i had a bigger floral budget i wouldn''t need a "decorations" budget. my sister in law and i are doing the flowers ourselves, and we''re not havin BM bouquets, and only a couple stems in one or two of the centerpieces.

flowers for ceremony, cocktail hour, reception total $2,200 with a $300 discount

I think we ended up spending around 14,000-15,000 on flowers after the discount my venue provides...without the discount, we would have been closer to 18,000 I do believe.

For me, that was an important aspect of my wedding. I picked expensive blooms, and I wanted a very lush lush lush array of florals. I was disappointed with my centerpieces which were missing key flowers that I actually paid for...the ceremony fell short, but everything else was on par.

Overall, I was unhappy with my the work my florist did sadly. So, make sure, no matter what budget you decide on, that you make sure to buy samples of what you''ll be getting in advance for your own piece of mind.

$1500. We''re getting my bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, 10 centerpieces, 2 ceremony arrangements, a wreath for the ceremony, and assorted bouts/corsages for parents.

Mine keeps creeping up. It''s at 2100 right now. But stay tuned. LOL.

I used to be a florist though, so flowers are really important to me. I sacrificed in many other areas for my floral budget. All paper was done on a strict budget, our offciant decision was made with many considerations but one of them was $$ saved for flowers....

Wedding was $14,159 and the flowers were $358, so flowers were only 2.5% of our budget. I don''t have my flower receipt in front of me, but only had 2 bouquets (mine and MOH), 3 coursages, 5 bouts for the men. Flowers were a very, very low priority for me, but I did absolutely love our flowers and made a huge impact in our photos, so it was worth it. To save money we did candles in lanterns with cranberries as our centerpieces and it worked well because it was cheap and I loooooved the candlelight. Flowers are expensive, but can be so beautiful.

My last total was at $2800.00. It''s going to be a bit higher due to some changes... so like Gypsy... it may be climging!
It''s less than 10% of my current wedding cost. I really love flowers though. I''d go even higher if I could afford more!

$6,000 ... firm ... well for now, anyways

- Flowers & decor are impt to me and I CANNOT wait to see what an amazing job our floral designer will do. Goodness knows how much it would be if she could do anything she wanted ... Had to say a big fat, "ummm no" to the $8 charger plates. They sounded amazing but we can get rental chargers for $2 a piece, why would we spend $8 ones just b/c they are glass??! Well, I know why - they are amazing and would look gorgeous but I just can''t justify it.

Sarah - 10% is a decent percentage if flowers/decor are a priority. If not, however, I think you would be more than safe with 5% or even less so that you can channel more of your budget to your other priority areas. Good luck!!

I should add that mine is less than 10% of total budget. There are only a few things that I not getting, in terms of flowers, that I wanted. I could easliy double the flower budget by changing the flowers in my centerpieces and making the centerpieces bigger... but honestly, I''m getting almost exactly what I want.

Sparkal-- I want glass chargers too! I just can''t justify chargers though-- any chargers. Or the organza chair sashes I secretly want. While I''m not really skimping on flowers at all. I am skimping on some of the other decor elements. I did just get the glass chargers from crate and barrel I had registered for though, and they are gorgeous. So I get chargers at home.

I can''t think of how to double the flower budget other than to have them fly in some of the flowers I *really* like since it''s fall... as it stands they are mixing up the cabbage roses for me so it''s more affordable (ie, not having all cabbage roses in centerpieces but mixing in other flowers etc). My bouquet will be all cabbage roses though, the best we could do with no peonies it seems.

In re: to charges. I bought all of the ones i''m using from macy''s.. they aren''t glass though, they are gold and plastic. I''d have preferred glass but the rental co. didn''t have anything that would match my theme. In fact my planner didnt even give me the option.. she just said buy ''these'' and sell them later. (sorry for the mini-threadjack!)

I think my flowers are at like $3,700... its somewhat painful to think about, but flowers are pretty important to me, as is the band to my fiance. That includes my bouquet, 5 bm bouquets, 5 corsages, 7 boutineers (sp?!) tons of centerpieces, escort card table, bathroom bouquet (why in the world did I find this necessary?) and little bouquets to be on the chairs for the ceremony... I am sure a few more things, but really for all of the flowers, I am cool with the price :)

Violet. I could double it. I could switch my centerpieces to all long stemmed mini callas (expensive as each centerpiece would have 30 mini callas in it) and orchids (not your standard cymbidiums) and roses only. Or Manzanita trees decorated with large clusters of flowers. Either way, your looking at 250-300 a centerpiece, as opposed to the 60 dollars each for the low, and 100 each for the high I'm paying now. LOL. I would also fly in peonies (I feel your pain hon), and add ceremony chair decorations for the aisle chairs, an arch that was decorated ALL in flowers (like all of it, the whole thing in flowers and greenery, and densely). I would also add an orchid bloom at each place setting.

Come to think of it... that would likely triple or quadruple my flower budget.

ETA; Jules!! I almost added a bathroom flower display the other day. Then I thought about it and decided against it. I'm currently talking myself out of two vases of submerged orchids for the bar. We'll see how that does.

I wanted ( and went a few hundred over ) 1,000. This is for a small wedding.

My bouquet, 2 wrist corsages, 6 boutineers, 1 jr flower girl, 6 Centerpieces ( Mostly Orchids Submerged with Lighting effects) rose petals on tables.. 2 Ceremony Arrangements- Curly Willow with hanging Candles and Crystals.
And 60 Chair Covers with Sashes..Black and White theme

I am really excited about my Designer''s Creativity..

I am at about 2,500. This is a little less then 10% of my budget. This is for 3 BMs, 4 bouts, arrangment for church, and centerpieces (about 10-12).
I too secretly want charges and I also want pomanders (sp?) for the pews. I made the mistake of telling FI about them and he refuses

If I had the money, I would totally spend a whole bunch of money on the flowers (actually, Gypsy''s dream flowers sound perfect!).

Hrm for some reason I was talking about plate chargers. What other kind of charger is there? lol!

We spent less than $150. We used a lot of candles to help save money since our budget was tiny.

Violet,

I believe Gypsy said she wanted Glass Chargers as well...

We wanted to keep our flowers under $1500. Total for 1 bridal bouquet (lilies and mini callas assorted colors), 3 bridesmaids bouquets (assorted mini callas), 3 coursages (orchids), 6 boutineers (white mini callas), 4 pomanders (balls of flowersmade with roses), flower petals for the aisle escort card table and sweetheart table (mixture of roses for aisle and mokara orchids for tables), large 3 teir centerpeice for escort card table (orchids, phalenopsis and fig), 6 table centerpeices (floating mums), and 50 individual flower blooms (mums) for each persons place setting came to $1130 plus tax.

This is over in Los Angeles California. Hope that helps.

Oh total wedding budget was $20K

Yaaay so many responses! Okay, so it looks like less than $2500 or $2000 isn''t an insane budget..I''m still waiting on my second quote. I am hoping to keep it as low as possible.

If we could get to around $1000-1500 for our part that''d be great! FI''s family is going to pay for some of it. Anyway, thanks everyone for contributing!

I went back and looked at all of the receipts the other day and we spent $9400 on florals.

I spent $500 on my flowers for the wedding - this included my toss, bridal portrait, and actual bouquet, 2 BM bouquets, 2 mothers bouquets, 3 grandma corsages, and 8 bouts. It also included one large centerpiece for the church and one ENORMOUS centerpiece at the reception.

I DIY''d my table centerpieces and they turned out GREAT! Those centerpieces cost me around $300 for 12 of them...

So, all in all, I spent right at $800 for flowers.

We are spending about 2K on the flowers...they are going to be a big part of our wedding. I know it''s a little silly and that they''re just going to die, but they''re just so damn beautiful!! We''re doing deep reds and deep purples, it should be beautiful!!

My budget ended up being somewhere around $13,000 - $14,000 (perhaps a little more, it's hard to tally everything), and my flower bill came to about $900 when all was said and done. Ten centerpieces, head table centerpiece, 2 bouquets, 4 boutonniers, 3 corsages, and two large arrangements. Freaking expensive.

All of my magazines says 10% of budget which for me would be $1,000-$1,500.

However, the venue that I would love to book (need FI's ok) has a gorgeous view of Miami and doesn't need much decoration. People book solely for the view. So if we hold the reception there then probably $400 to $600 would be my budget. We're also only having a MOH and BM and the bouquet I want is very simple.

Gypsy - Tell me about it! These glass chargers are haunting me. I really want them. I keep coming down to earth when I see the price for them though. That is really helpful!

I''m SO glad that you got the glass chargers that you registered for ... Yay! Do you have pictures?
