I know most of you have probably heard of it by now. Anyone planning to try it out?

These ladies have been all over promoting their diet plan. The results that people are getting from the "jump start" seem quite impressive.

I'm more of an everything-in-moderation quality health food type o' gal, but I'm curious to see if anyone around here is picking up on the flat belly thing

technically, what is the flat-belly diet??

i would imagine it''s something like eat the powerfoods, low carbs and only complex carbs when you do eat them, diet higher in lean proteins.

kind of like the ''abs diet''. i love how all of these have special names for them but really it''s just ''eat more of what''s right than wrong''.

for me...the best ''flat belly diet'' is one lower in carbs, higher in lean proteins, with no sweets and lots of water. carbs bloat you out in general and most of us see that bloating in our abdominal area.

I'm not sure exactly, something about olives, dark chocolate and walnuts.

I don''t know about the olives and walnuts, but V-Dude got me a year''s supply of dark chocolate for me when he proposed, so I''ve been having lots of that these days. Does that count? No wonder I''ve been losing ab fat lately.... (I''m dead serious, gals!)

Yeah, I saw this on Rachel Ray!

Here''s my thoughts about the 1st phase - two words: Cabbage Soup Diet. I''m guessing you probably lose the 5-10 lbs water weight.

The walnuts and such are MUFAs, right? Is that mono-unsaturated fatty acids? Fat something..they also showed avacados. This isn''t really anything new, either - they''re just saying that there are good fats and bad ones and that if you want to lose weight, you should have some of the good ones. Back in the day when I tried the south beach diet, they did the same thing - "snack time" was something like 15 almonds and they encouraged cooking with evoo.

In the segment I watched, the flat belly diet didn''t seem much different than south beach - it''s just about limiting portion sizes and eating natural foods instead of processed ones.

They also said that it would trim up Rach''s behind - well, if your metabolism is working well, you''ll burn fat anywhere, so I doubt any diet really targets the belly.

The thing that really makes me question it though is that it''s supposedly a "no-exercise diet." I don''t believe that such a thing can exist - muscle burns fat better than anything else and you''re not building muscle if you''re not moving.

I''m sure that there are good habits you can form by picking up the diet, but the result is probably like all fad diets.

There is one diet I am thinking about though - my doc suggested looking at the American Diabetes Assoc. diet - diabetes runs in my fam and she said that it''s actually excellent for prevention and it''s made to keep the blood sugar at regular levels which will help increase/maintain a healthy metabolism. Might be worth a look. :)

I thought the concept was interesting, as I like the foods they want you to eat anyway. My coworker did it, and did the 4 day thingy at the beginning. She made it 2 days and was meaner than a snake both days! I think it is just too extreme. However, the water they have you drink is GOOD! I wanted to make my own when I tried hers.
