Hey!

i checked out the Fairchild option today, and they''re kind of CRAZY! They want a LOT of money just for the site rental fee. Plus, they require you to become a Botanical Society member at a certain level of donation, which costs $1000. And another $2000 just to reserve the date. They have their own companies that you''re compelled to deal with for decor, chair rental..it''s fairly restrictive and expensive. Bummer.

BUT there IS good news.....

Check this out:

Have you explored the option of an evening rental? Because Venetian Pool in Cra Gables will close down at 5PM and let you rent the whole site for $2000. All of Venetian Pool. For FIVE hours!

Plus, you can bring in any caterer, any rental company, and vendors you want. All you have to do is watch the noise levels after 9PM because it''s Coral Gables, and they''re anal about that. You know. We all know. It''s Coral Gables, man.

Also, they have a cafe on the premises, so that means a fully functional KITCHEN!!! Your caterer won''t need catering trucks (like at the Spanish Monastery) so this kind of eliminates the need for a separate reception site.

There are some great caterers who can do (depending on what you guys like to eat) 3-course dinners for $35 a person. You can bring in your own alcohol (buy it by the case at Costco or ABC, it''ll be affordable).

If you really love that Italian-Villa, Coral Rock, vintage-y feeling, I think you''ll be happy. Today, when I saw it, the bouganvilla growing over the wooden trellis on the west side of the pool were in FULL blossom, and they look stunning. They''re also all over the South side entry way, like covering the side of the building. Totally beautiful.

Also, Venetian Pool has a PARKING LOT!! Which is all yours for the site rental fee (of which, I believe, $500 is returned to you if you clean up properly and on time, so it''s $1500 to rent)

You could do the ceremony beachfront, on their little faux-beach...float candles in the pool, set up votives around the pool edge, and use the cafe''s little courtyard (under those yummy bouganvilla) as your reception space, and the coral walkway for the "cocktails" part of the evening. They''ve got eectricity, a changing room for the bride, restrooms...so it''s not like renting a park and "camping" and haing to bring in porta-potties and what not.

Check out the link, see if it''s your thing:
