I live in a warm climate (Florida) that has slightly cooled off and my wedding rings are already a bit looser. They fit perfectly in the humid summers, no finger "muffin top" for me..hehe.

How do your rings fit in the winter? Comfortably loose? Falling off? Just curious what people do who live in cold climates in the winter----

Thanks!

It''s been very cold where I live for the past few days, and my rings have been driving me crazy!! They are very loose and are constantly swinging around, most of the time the diamond is upside-down...I received the rings this past summer, and I knew they would be loose during the cold weather, and I was right!! Oh well, in the grand scheme of things not a big deal I guess...but it does bug me! Why can''t the rest of me get thinner, and not just my fingers?

My rings fit loosely in the winter too. I''m in NW Ohio though so it''s freezing for several months of the year. In the summer I get some finger muffin-top but not enough to bother me.

It''s pretty cold here in SF now too

. I like my rings never to feel tight, so they fit "perfectly" in Disney-world in July weather (I tested!)

That means in normal, moderate weather they''re loose enough to spin, and in the cold they can slide right off - claire''s has these little plastic thingies that help with that, though.

The reason I asked, I will be in Arizona and Las Vegas for 5 days starting next Friday. I have been consulting weather.com about the respective weather and I think my rings are going to be swinging A LOT. Any tips how to prevent this?

I just read what I wrote....You know you have a Pricescope/Diamond problem when you check weather in vacation destinations to determine how your rings will fit.

This is the best argument ever for having two sets of rings!

My engagement ring, sized at 7.25, is so loose in the winter that if I talk with my hands I chance losing it. In the summer my fingers swell so much that I have the imprint of the setting in my finger.

I have several different rings at various sized and stack depending on weather and what I want to wear. They range from 6.25-7.5. Right now I’m wearing the 6.25, the 6.5, and 6.75 a lot and they still slide up my finger to the knuckle. I know I won’t loose them though.

My ring is currently nearly falling off due to the cold!

I''m actually afraid to wear it lately! It is currently a 4 1/4 but I''m thinking I need at least a 4 for winter and am thinking of getting sizing beads put in, but I worry it will be too snug in the summer. I like my rings somewhat loose. Boo shrinkage!

I like for my rings to be very loose, so they are loose in the summer and very loose in the winter. I can''t stand it when they''re tight or snug.

I live in Chicago, so now that it is 2 degrees out (with 21 below windchill ) my rings are nice and loose today!

My ring is definitely lose right now. It''s a size 6, but last weekend I tried on my sister''s 5.5 and got it on with no trouble, and felt a lot more comfortable without it spinning all around. I''m going to pay more attention this summer to whether it ever gets too tight, and if not, I might get it sized down a bit because I hate the diamond spinning around so much.

Mine definitely get loose and spin in the winter, but they''re also unfortunately tight in summer - no wonder spring and fall are my favorite seasons! In winter, I just add a stacking band to make sure they''ll stay put. It doesn''t necessarily have to be a pricey one: a 1mm. sterling band will do. But better safe than sorry ... and this is much easier than altering the set with sizing or bumps, IMO.

I like my rings tight enough that they won't fall off no matter what. So in the summer, I occasionally get a little muffin top going

but in the winter they're just nicely loose but still aren't falling off. My knuckles are small and my fingers taper a lot, so I can wear a range of sizes if I just move the ring to the right spot on my finger.

DH has trouble because his knuckle is the biggest part. He actually has two rings because when it's really warm, he needs something big enough to fit over the knuckle. Once it got colder, that ring was big enough to fall right off if he shook his hand, so we got him one a half size smaller too.

Oh dear...finger shrinkage is exactly the reason I lost my engagement ring in October

My ring was a size 6, and when I was hot, it fit perfectly. But when I get chilly, my fingers shrink a full size sometimes (I also lost weight, so that didn''t help).

Now, my new replacement ring is a size 5, and when I''m hot (like right now), I have finger muffin top, which I find SO incredibly uncomfortable...but my husband is still so sore (and so am I) about my having lost the ring, I will just live with it, especially since it does fit perfectly when my fingers are cold.

PLEASE do NOT wear your beloved rings if they are more than spinning--if they are in danger of falling off, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not wear them until the weather is warmer. It breaks my heart every time I think of the ring I lost

Circe is right-put a thin small band in front of your rings.
Another thing I do for security is wear my band in front instead of my engagement ring when my fingers are smaller.
If the rings get to the point that they will fall off, I wear them on my right hand.

Same issue here. I usually wear a size 5.75 and it''s comfy in most seasons, but kind of loose in the winter. I am going to be ordering a new setting in January and am seriously debating which size to order, a 5.5 or 5.75! But I don''t want it to be too tight in July! And I hate a loose, spinny ring too...makes me nervous that it will fall off! Ugh.

I too have fingers that change sizes slightly when the weather changes. Not enough for the ring to fall right off but it will spin and sometimes, slip off easily. When that happens, I will switch the ring to the other hand. So in cold weather, I wear it on the hand with the larger finger and vice versa in hot weather.

My rings are naturally a little looser in the winter because of the cold (I'm usually around a size 5-5.25 in the winter and 5.75-6 in the summer). I swell easily so in the summer my normally elegantly long fingers look like sausages. My w-bands are really thin so they're a small size, but my engagement ring, while another thin band, was purchased in the summer and it's way too big most times of the year. I've got a horseshoe sizer in it which sizes it down to a 5.25 but it's flexible up to a size 6 or so to account for when my fingers swell. Best investment ever. My e-ring had already been sized down as far as it could go without affecting the integrity of the pave. The horseshoe sizer also keeps my ring from spinning. I recommend it to people who are concerned about this.
