It is, hands down, the prettiest day of the year, here in Central Texas. OMG! One of those stunning blue and golden days. Abundant sunshine, a cloud-free deep blue sky, and a whisper of a breeze. Crisp in the morning, and warm in the afternoon. The color is just starting to deepen the trees here; it''s a pleasure to drive 50 miles to work through the country when it''s this pretty.

We''ve been through so much ''weather'' to get a day like this; and the best part is, the forecast says we''re in for an entire week of wonderfulness!!

I feel blessed today. I hope, wherever you may be, you''re feeling much the same.

aw, that is a nice thought, thanks! It is pretty weather here too; it should be a high of 65 and sunny!

It feels nice, doesn''t it? 65 degrees all day is pure heaven. No more humidity and bugs, especially in Florida. I absolutely LOVE fall and winter seasons. I love it when it''s cold.

It makes me want to sleep in, get lost in the sheets and sip on some hot coco.

49 hits, and only 2 responses?? Are many of you having a blah fall? Or was it just a Monday?

I would spread our pretty weather around if I could. . . give everyone a bit of sunshine to brighten their outlook. Goodness knows, I certainly needed a dose.

I love the weather this time of year.
We are in Southern California but you can still sense a chill in the air.
It smells different.

The sun is lower in the sky and makes more dramatic shadows, and the sunlight itself is a more austere color.

Vacations are not in our budget now but all my life I have preferred fall/winter time for vacations.
The weather this time of year inspires me and carries me away; it stimulates my imagination.

please send sunshine to me!

it has been yucky weather here in Holland since Sunday (though that is very common most of the year). it is gray skies the whole day and dark. also wet and cold. I don''t mind cold as long as the sun is shining, but it''s not!

I''m stuck driving in city traffic to work every day (don''t even take the highway), so you are very lucky to get a nice drive through the country.

HollyS - any pretty pictures to share?

I don''t have any personal photos on this computer, but I can sure find some TX fall photos online. I''ll look for some and hope they give your spirits a lift.

Hi HollyS!
Glad you are having a nice day in TX.
Nice in upstate NY as well.

Here's a beautiful shot of the pine trees and sumacs in East Texas. I used this one for the brilliant blue of the sky, which is just like our sky right now.

That came out tiny . . . hmmm.

Lost Maples is a nature preserve farther west. Called Lost Maples, because not too many parts of TX have maple trees. Absolutely pristine and natural. Hiking trails, primitive camping. At one point, we were standing between canyon walls and the absence of sound was like a vacuum. So cool.

Maybe someone with the computer savvy I obviously do not possess will be able to enlarge these photos. I tried. (hangs head in shame)

Wildseed Farms is one of my favorite places in Fredericksburg, Texas. Fields of flowers, a nursery, a garden center, a gift shop, and at this time of year, masses of guords and pumpkins.

Our current weather is very California-like. Cool mornings, warm afternoons, low humidity. It''s easy to see why so many people move to CA and stay.

We always take a fall vacation; most of the U.S. has its very best weather then. Well, maybe not some of the South this year; those poor folks.

j/k

reminds me of a drive we once took through the Blue Ridge Parkway in October. that''s what it''s called right? the one between VA and NC?

Funny coincidence of a thread Holly - I was just complaining to Lesley from BGD about the heat that came upon suddenly where I am today - then I remembered she is in Texas, lol..
Your day sounds lovely, Lesley also mentioned the same about the Houston weather.

Mine was sunny - but *hot*, and I was driving most of the day, which made it iichhky.
Now I have what I call "driving arm" - you know when you develop a tan on one arm and not the other from driving around in the sun? (obviously for us that would be the right arm, but the left for you guys).
Do you get "left arm only" tan?

the weather has been lovely indeed! this is my favorite time of year!
