Okay, so I've been holding out on you all....I bought a diamond yesterday!
I think it was 3 or 4 weeks ago I got super serious with the search for the 4-5 carat OEC and narrowed my search down to two selections. I ended up thinking one of them was going to be too low in color and would not be the right color for a halo--not that I would ever halo a 4 carat diamond but just in case I wanted to--ya know? Or even if I wanted one of those super blingy shared prong wedding bands--the color might look off. So I decided to pass on it and have the other stone sent--even though the other one is an OMB and not the OEC I said I wanted. The OEC had more of the face up size I was looking for and the OMB although a bit smaller face up, weighs more and is a higher color. The size difference is maybe .20mm. Will that be noticeable? Should I have gone with the lower color larger face up? What about optics, sparkle, fire, bold flashes of light? These questions are rolling around in my head... and I guess I'll know when I open the box.
FedEx delivered the package precisely an hour and 38 minutes ago. And I haven't even opened it. Um, yep I said I HAVEN'T EVEN OPENED IT! What? I know, I know....
I'm trying to "brave up the nerve"....
The what if's are making me a nervous Nelly!
What if I should have had both of the diamonds sent? I always said I wanted an OEC, the one that was sent is an OMB. I've been viewing the stones online where the photos are blown up a gazillion times making small things seem much larger than they appear IRL. What if the one I chose looks too small on my finger? I've been preparing myself since yesterday to think small, think reallllllly small, then when I open the box the contents will certainly look the right size.
I should phone my dh to come home so we can open the package together. But what if I am disappointed? I won't be able to hide it and maybe that will disappoint him. In a perfect world he would wrap the gift and present it to me--but everyone knows those darned OEC and OMBs are perfectly, imperfect.
So I just got off the phone with my dh--he said to just go ahead and open it--if I don't like it send it back and get the other one-- no disappointment, he just wants me to be happy with it. So I am...gulp...deep breath...here goes....
