I figured since the other nailpolish thread took off- id start one for light/bright colors.

Thus far- I have been loving Essie- Poptart :) its a nice bright coral color and I love it for the summer time

I don't wear much polish but I like to layer OPI bubble bath (1 thin ct) over OPI Pink Before You Leap (1 thin coat). Because it's like the perfect barely shimmery barely there color. Polish stays on me when I do use it for like an hour before it starts to peel right off, so I only usually do it when I am going somewhere. I can do the same colors with that AXXIUM stuff and get about a week before it looks like death on me. lol

Oo sounds nice. I find that using a topcoat def helps the polish to stay longer.

Makes zero difference. No basecoat or top coat on the market (and I have tried probably hundreds!) has ever made any difference. The only way it stays is if it's someting like axxium.

I like Orly and Savvy. My favorite color is Orly's cupcake. It is a pink. I have on a light pink today.

I don't wear much polish

Oh man.... I love nail polish.

I have a ton of glitters! And bright.

I have mostly switched to Zoya as they are 3/4 free (chemicals).
I wear every color other than yellow for nail polish.

Nudes are very "IN" right now.

Do you prep your nails right before painting? Like wash them and then use remover to take any residue and oils off?
That might help.
Some brands also are not compatible together. I use a china glass top coat (glitter) with a sally hansen base color and it chipped right away. Tried china glaze AGAIN alone, but did a top coat on top of that. Chipped, again.

When I switched and used it with another china glaze there was no chipping!

Yep. It makes no difference whether I prep or not, or how. Alcohol, polish remover, that OPI spray stuff, the CND stuff. Nothin makes any difference, my nails seem to prefer to be in the nude lol. None of the polish brands do much different either. For my wedding I did that Revlon Color Stay that used to come in a set with the top coat, and that stayed on the longest of anything besides Axxium, I got 19 hours out of it. It was peeled off by my reception but I got through pictures and the wedding. I also haven't gotten a professional manicure that lasted more than about an hour either. One of the girls diong them wonders if I just have oily nailbeds or something, but so far the only stuff that will stay on me is that OPI Axxium stuff. The jar polish. Shellac came right off, I haven't tried the new OPI Gel Color option yet.

My DD is counting the days until the Chanel Summer 2012 color is launched; Skyline

OMG.... I am completely IN LOVE with Shellac. The color I wear *I think* is called Moonlight & Roses. Since I don't need a bottle at home to do touch-ups (it lasts 2-3 weeks with no chips or dings!) I don't know for sure the color name. I looked at their website, though, and I think that's the name.

Of OPI colors I like Bubble Bath and Sweet Heart

For Essie I love Vanity Fairest and Delicacy

For my fingernails, unless it's the holidays, I am all about the sheerest, lightest pinky-nude color possible! When I finally get my ring, I want it to be the star of the show. No competing with my nail polish! :wink2:

I love shellac too, but it's hard on my nails.

ame- that's crazy. I actually owned (and loved that color stay stuff!)
I wonder why some polish lasts longer on some than on others.

Yea I have no idea why, I can't wear it when I am working on orders though anyway, so usually only when I am still only doing consults. If even then. I rarely want to wear it because of the way it comes off so easily!

LOL! :D

One of my all-time favs was last year's Chanel summer color, Peridot. It is unbelievable; green at some angles, plain gold at other angles. Amazing! I don't care for Chanel fall/winter colors, but their summer colors are usually cool. I buy my DD one each year, since the $26 is usually out of her budget. For both of us, it's a fun outing to a fancy store. If you hunt, some stores have leftover Peridot.

Yes that one is gorgeous! (I don't own it though)

I thought graphite was very very pretty from that line too.

My toes are almost always painted Nars dovima- a red that's not too orange, and not too blue on me. Just right.

I don't often paint my nails, but when I do, it always gravitate towards red. I have a hard time finding the perfect shade of red, so when I find something I like, I'll buy 3-4 bottles at a time.

Here's my latest infatuation (just ignore the ring and stone): Essie Jag-u-are

OOoooOo! Love nailpolish!

Recently I've been really into Essie - Ballet Slippers.

I'm gonna have to check out some more of these. I've been buying a bunch of dark colors because of the winter time but I know soon enough I'll be buying light again. There is another one by Essie that I like thats called "Jazz."

Personally, I take pictures after each time painting my nails with a new color. What's a thread without pictures?!

All I wear is pale pink polish (sometimes in the fall or winter I'll wear Essie Wicked, but that's it). My favorite colors are Essie Ballet Slippers, Essie Allure, and OPI Bubble Bath. I always use Seche Vite Fast Dry Nail Coat to top off the polish, as I'm too impatient to sit and wait and I think SV is one of the best top coats I've used. :))

Chanel's Lilac Sky. Revlon harming {a pastel lilac}. Essie Neo Whimsical {a pastel lilac}. hmmm, do I see a pattern here?

some "lights" i love:
my go-to is essie "madamoiselle" a lovely light pink that's not too cotton candy. http://s64159.gridserver.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/essie-mademoiselle.jpg

right now i'm wearing zoya "dove" a medium gray. loving it   http://www.vampyvarnish.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Zoya-Dove.jpg

another light color i love is essie "absolutely shore" a great minty green. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-j2sOMmdbFTI/TY-D04QDaRI/AAAAAAAABCI/36HC7zFIpSw/s1600/IMAG0201.jpg

some "brights" i love:
i generally stick to shades of red if i'm going for a bright nail look. zoya "sooki" which is a true red-red. http://www.alllacqueredup.com/wp-co...-sooki-nail-polish-swatch-summertime-2011.jpg

another go-to bright is essie "meet me at sunset" which is an orange but a red-orange. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-75sHTm5wg4g/TY-D1Y8LjKI/AAAAAAAABCY/t0e7V0P6Z48/s1600/IMAG0199.jpg

I love all the colors shown here, especially the Channel blue and peridot. One day I'm going to have to splurge on a bottle already.
My go-to light/neutral is Essie Ballet Slippers. In fact, I bought a nee bottle just yesterday. I've found I get good wear using Eddie's base and top coats. I was liking the wear with Seche Vite top coat, but found that mixing it with the Essie polishes, it was yellowing my nails.

I love the colors everyone's posted. I've never thought to go for different type of colors such as grey, green, or blue. I stick to pinks, mauves, and reds. I wonder if grey would look good on my nails. I'll have to try it.
