Thanks Haven! I have to get on the ball .... I ran through all NINE songs I'd picked yesterday & then had to repeat. Time to go to iTunes I guess!

So far I have some Outkast, Prince, Kelly Clarkson (do not judge!), Beastie Boys, Hole, Morris Day, and the Glee version of "Golddigger". Gotta find some fast fast fast tempo stuff that I can't NOT move to..... 8)

Oops a note - not really INSPIRATIONAL so much as my fave workout songs have driving beats that get me going.

Thanks B.E.G. ... that'll give me a lot to go on! Not sure if you'll pop back in here but if you do: how are you liking the Zumba? Did it hurt your knees at first? I had my first class last week but I was wearing regular running type shoes and had a hard time doing all the fast pivots etc. I ordered dance aerobic shoes for this week but am still nervous about tweaking or really hurting my knees! Just curious about your experience. (I know you are a lot younger & fitter than I!!!)

Hey Deco!

I LOVE zumba. It is such a blast, and I'm sad that I couldn't make it to class today (my golf lesson ran late). I've been taking zumba since October, about 3-4 times a week pretty regularly. It definitely depends on the teacher - there are two really awesome ones at my gym who incorporate a lot of hip hop and latin, and then a few others who aren't that good (they're more like glorified aerobics - nothing wrong with aerobics, but zumba is about latin flavor! :) ).

I didn't have knee issues, but I did use to get huge blisters on my big toes from stuff like slides and pivots. I think I've learned to compensate since then (I don't really slide or drag my feet across the floor).

A lot of the women in my class wear these shoes - Nike_Huarache_Dance. If you look at the sole it has a pivot on the ball of the foot that helps you turn. I use regular sneakers but the women who have these really like them.

I would say - just take it easy, respect your body, and as you get more comfortable with the moves and start to learn the routines, you can go even more all out :) And more than that, have fun! Tomorrow night, we have a couple big zumba DJs who work for Zumba Fitness coming to do this big zumba dance party. I wasn't sure if I was going to go or not, but I think I am - it sounds like fun!
