Fancy Yellow Diamond Owners....are you a blond or brunette?

All the people I know with fancy yellow-diamonds (celebs included) seem to be blond. I'm curious to see if this is the norm because the color of the diamond is so flattering to the hair? I have a couple blond co-workers who have yellow diamonds, and celebs I can name with yellow diamonds: Heidi Klum, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill. Notice a trend?

I had never thought of it this way. While I think yellow diamonds are beautiful, I wouldn't wear one as the colour isn't flattering to my skin tone. I never considered how it would look with my hair.

I am a brunette with Sleeping Beauty colouring (very dark hair, fair skin and grey-blue eyes).

I just found another blond celeb: Rebecca Romijn with a Carnary diamond.

I guess I'm not the norm: Light brownish skin with brown hair and eyes. I have a pair of yellow diamonds that are part of an anniversary ring.

Glad to hear it! This question may seem random and pointless, but I'm still pursuing a RHR project, and thought of colored diamonds, but I know that I'm not a "pink" diamond girl....yellow is more "me", but kind of curious as to what it'd look like with my hair/skintone. Can you please post a picture of your ring on your finger?

Also, Kelly Preston has a yellow diamond. I personally prefer pink diamonds over yellow diamonds, ETA, esp. in rose gold.

Small threadjack: Agh! The prongs... if you do go with this vendor, would they be able to make more delicate prongs?

Have you tried on other yellow gems, such as yellow sapphire? That should give you a good idea of how the different shades of yellow work with your skin tone.

If I got a yellow Halo made, it's be a total custome piece, definitely going with smaller (perhaps claw-type prongs)

Actually I have a fakey ring with yellow and white CZ, it didn't really get any compliments from other people, but I guess the ring was just ugly. I'm going to have to pull it out again to see if it clashes with my skin tone.

hmm, interesting question.

I think alot of it depends on your skin tone as well. I'm a brunette with very pink skin. Yellow anything, including diamonds looks horrid on me. I run from yellow. Pink and blue on the other hand.. :naughty: Such a shame those colors are so expensive.

Interesting question, I'm currently blond lol.

Re: Fancy Yellow Diamond Owners....are you a blond or brunet

I'm a red head, so not much help to you, but I do like how my yellow studs look on my skin and with my hair. They are a lemony, light yellow.

I think the key will be finding a yellow that flatters your particular skin / hair tones. There's yellow and there's yellow, if you see what I mean. If you have modifying colours, you'll get quite a different look - eg brownish yellow / greenish yellow / orange yellow/ light yellow / intense and so on.

That might be hard to achieve with melee stones, but not impossible. I'd suggest trying on some yellow toned stones locally, even if they aren't diamonds, just to get a feel for the tones that work with your skin and hair colour.

I love how a light, buttery yellow looks on me, but I don't like stones with orange or brown in them against my skin. The colours I like to look at aren't the ones that flatter me, often.

Good luck finding your perfect rhr, fun project!

I'm a redhead. I never thought about whether a yellow diamond looked good with my hair or skin tone - I fell in love with the intensity of the diamond's color.

Re: Fancy Yellow Diamond Owners....are you a blond or brunet

I am blonde also. Although I wonder if my medium-olive toned skin has anything to do with it. Also, just fell in love the the stone and the way it was set!

Re: Fancy Yellow Diamond Owners....are you a blond or brunet

Huh. Yellow looks fine with my skin but I don't think it enhances or detracts - it just is. I love light pinks - a pale pink or peachy diamond in rose gold would be..mmmm....

light blue looks absolutely horrid on me, so no blue diamonds for me. Not that that was ever on the cards, but it feels better to say "I don't want it!" :cheeky:

ETA: brown skin, black hair, brown eyes

Re: Fancy Yellow Diamond Owners....are you a blond or brunet

I think whether the yellow flatters would have alot more to do with the skin color than the hair. Blondes (and brunettes) can have so many shades of skin color it would be pretty individual whether a particular stone flatters or not. To me a more pastel yellow would look better on pinker/fairer skin (could even have pastel colored side stones), while a stronger intense yellow I think would look good with tan or darker skin. Just like people with darker skin can get away with stronger shades of eye shadow and lipstick. The modifiers would also really make a difference.

My skin color is weird, light but with a olive cast. I can tan but don't ever purposely. I can't think of what yellow would look good with that, so (sigh) I guess I have to go with the pink or pink modified champange diamond.

Well, I don't know if my diamond counts as a "fancy" one, butif it does, I am a brunette/auburn wearer :)

Re: Fancy Yellow Diamond Owners....are you a blond or brunet

I was thinking of an intense yellow for my skintone, almost orange-yellow (like natural amber). I really like the intense yellow of the earring jackets that Laurenthepartier got for her mom. Can't seem to find that thread to link it.

Re: Fancy Yellow Diamond Owners....are you a blond or brunet

I think you're going in the right direction If you're tan, or a bit warmer in skin tone, you will want a brighter, more intense stone. I wish my camera wouldn't have broken but I surely wish I went a bit brighter with my yellow pears. They blend in more than I like which is why I made them into an anniversary ring and purchased a wedding set in white gold.

Hmmm - If I could afford a fancy yellow I'd have one in a heartbeat! I'm a natural blonde who has been on a chocolate brown kick lately
