OMG! It feels so real! Seeing all of our Summer Bride friends on PS get married, one by one, seeing their amazing pics and their smiling faces... it''s almost here!!!

I wrote my first full draft of my vows last night (THANK YOU VIOLET, you were SO right about that book!). John and I are working on the rest of the ceremony this week. I want to be able to send the book and a CD of the ceremony script over to John''s Uncle (our officiant) this weekend.

I mailed out my invites on Saturday and people accross the country already have them!!!
face20.gif

I had my second fitting on Saturday and the design changes to the gown are coming along swimmingly!

RD invites are here. John will be having them addressed and I will send them out Saturday.

I''ve got to plan my own bachelorette party. FMIL assumed she was invited to it. John need to tactfully explain to her that she''s not. At all. Invited. Though I love her.

I am considering buying hand fans for the ceremony in case it''s really hot.
I''ve got to go buy tioletries for the basket in the ladies bathroom.
My Hair and Makeup trial is on Sunday.
Need to buy outfits for the engagement shoot (August 10th).
FOUND the favors! Ordered the favor tags and organza bags. Will ask my parents to assemble them.
Ordered corks for the placecard holders. Will need to pick them up next time I''m out that way.
Bought veil and earrings.
Ordered John''s wedding band.
Sent off for officiant packet.
Getting our marriange license this Thursday.
While we are figuring out the ceremony script I will be figuring out the music too. I think I''ve got a Processional (YES!)
Need Stickies for underneath my gown (bought and returned many undergarments that will not work).
Bought a few preliminary thank you cards in case of early presents.

Things that I can''t do right now:
Order placecards get them printedl, make the cork placecard things.
Seating chart
Wedding timeline (though soon)

My mom is thinking of getting us a videographer, 2 month left and she wants me to find a videographer. OY!.

Things are good. I''m moody as heck. I''m settling into the job. Overall... coming along!

How are you guys doing?

corks for placecards?! That sounds like what I''m doing? Are you doing it a better way than me? I''ve been flattening out one side to make it flat, and then putting a slice in the other side, to stick the card. It''s really hard to do, and I''ve been wondering if there''s a better way...

I saw that look, loved it, but thought it was too hard. So here''s what I''m doing:

Gosh...that''s a better idea. Maybe I''ll do that instead. What tool did you use to cut them?

Oh dear, I''m a Fall bride and I haven''t been paying attention. I didn''t know we were to give updates. The date: Oct 23, 2008. Um...we decided on a venue and we need to book it this week. I''m hoping the date we want isn''t gone (don''t worry, it''s a super small ceremony so it''s not like we waited until the last possible minute to plan something huge). Oh, our officiant will be an old friend of my FI''s family. Apparently she''s really good as people have flown her to different states to marry them. My dress was sent in for alterations about 2 months ago but due to the seamstress daughter being in the hospital we had to reschedule my refitting day. I''m anxious about that because I want to be sure it fits. Oh and I''ve had the same hair stylist for the last 7 years and she did a hair trial this past Saturday. We tried two looks and I think I''ve decided on one.

The end.

You are so well organized!! I''m impressed!

Why would FMIL assume she was invited to a bachelorette party? I thought John''s parents were looking after the rehearsal dinner. Period.

Is your mom postponing her surgery until after the wedding? I sure hope so!

You''re making tremendous progress in the wedding planning. I hope there''s nothing else that will come up to cause more moodiness.

Here's where I'm at for my 10/4 wedding (using your list as a basis Gypsy!):

- All vendors are booked and I'm starting to dole out LARGE sums of cash for their 50%+ downs since we're closing in on the date.
- Need to send in the contract for the videographer.
- Bachelorette party will be the weekend of 9/5 in LA, got our plane tickets already.
- STILL waiting to hear back from my photographer about doing our engagement shoot the last week of August.
- Need to pick out outfiits for that shoot
- I revamped my favors and am going with paper and paper tisue favor cones filled with m&m's and a strawberry candy tin. Ordered all the necessary ribbon and paper, just need to order candy
- Ordered all the paper goods from Flax for my bridesmaid and I to make all of our menus, programs and placecards.
- Need to deliver list of names, closer to the date (and placecards) for the calligrapher to write on.
- Got our marriage license already!
- Need to buy some spanx!
- My dress is in, need to schedule first fitting.
- Need hair and makeup trial for end of August.
- Already got all my thank you cards and have been getting those sent out promptly.
- Waiting for veil and jewelry to arrive end of August.
- Need to pick up the fabric for my dress and have a tie made out of it for my FI.
- My FI is getting his vest fitted this weekend.
- Bridesmaid dresses are in at Siri, need to go in and see them.
- Groomsmen's ties are in, need to go in and pick them up (missing 2 usher ties which are still on their way from Jenny Yoo).
- Invitations were sent last week and I'm getting RSVPs already!
- Rehearsal dinner invites were sent.
- Need to finalize menu.
- Need to finalize flowers.
- Need to finalize music choices for live musicians.
- Need to take dance lessons.
- Need to finalize music choices for videographer.
- Need to go over DJ music for wedding.
- Need to decide if we can pull of a waltz for our first dance.
- Will be meeting with officiant to go over Ceremony details.

FI is:
Assembling guest book table backdrop

We're both pondering:
Assembling one of the three chandeliers we ordered... either that or just pay the event company to do all three. What a PAIN!

I'm totally stressed out of my mind right now. I think what makes me crazy is that I can't get ahold of everyone I need to WHEN I need to and sometimes it takes days or weeks to get an answer. Then of course it just falls out of my memory and we're back to square one. I know people are busy but I feel crazed by how many details I'm tackling right now. And yes I'm moody as heck too!

Have you been to the ribbonerie in SF Gypsy? That place is amazing. I got a lot of ribbon there for the favors and to wrap the menus and napkins in (with a bow!). Very cute! Good deals too.

TB, I haven't even picked up the corks yet (the winery just got them in for me)!

I was thinking a razor blade and two cuts to take out a small wedge. I'll let you know once we start, but it's not going to be for a while. Apparently cork heals itself so if you start too soon (and don't have the place cards yet) when you go to stick the placecards in they may not fit. Newbie gave me that advice yesterday. I'm planning on ordering the placecards (you can send your list to this place and they do them for you for a pretty reasonable price apparently) the first week of September because Labor Day weekend is for Seating Chart Twister. The following week (two weeks before wedding) I'll ask my step dad to do them for me. He likes that kind of stuff.

Moonwater-- you made me smile. You wedding sounds like a dream. And yes, missy, you HAVE to give updates! What WERE YOU THINKING! *snort*
9.gif

Isaku-- Yeah, it's getting there!!! Thanks so much for the encouragement! I'm pretty happy with progress. Doing myu vows last night was sniffle city. Tonight is gonna be more of the same.

My mom is postponing till after the wedding. She just told me last week.

As for John's mom. I'm not sure how that happened. Here's the conversation:

"Mom, I need X,Y, Z's email addys and phone numbers." X, Y, and Z are John's first cousin and two eldest nieces (over 21).

"Why?"

"We're going to be doing a small low key bachelorette thing and I want to invite them."

"Oh, I don't know if they can afford that. Just attending the wedding is costing so much money. I don't know, I just don't know"

DEEP BREATH, "Well, they can always decline the invitation if they don't feel they can do it. But it's not going to be anything expensive, dinner a few drinks and then pedicures and manicures."

"Oh... I'm getting my nails done the day before we fly out, so I guess I'll just watch while you guys are doing that stuff."

MMmmFFffmmm..... WHA????

Violet -- I used your list as a basis on the last check in thread. We can keep each other sane and honest!

You've got a good grip. I say assemble the chandeliers yourselves. Just pop in a good movie and open a bottle of wine and make a night of it.

I know what you mean about the level of stress. CRAZY.
I haven't been to the ribbonerie. You've made me curious!

You sound like you are REALLY on top of it to me. So take a little time to pat yourself on the back and breathe. You've got a good amount of time still. It will get done!

Wow. Lots to do. AND I''m leaving for a 2 week trip on Thursday. haha. Ah well. Lucky me isn''t working all summer so I have lots of time when I return!

Good luck girls - it is nice to read what everyone else is doing just in case I miss something!

Table numbers! Need to make those too! Thanks for the reminder.

Need to do wine tasting to pick wedding wines.

Need to get attendant gifts.

I KNEW there was stuff I was forgetting (and there probably still is).

Thanks Oct2008!

Need to have final meetings with: Caterer/Venue, DJ and Florist about two weeks before wedding. DOC will need to be there or call in. She''s already going to be there for the Venue/Caterer, but I''d like her to be there for the rest as well.

Man I wish we could assemble ALL of them, you should see the chicken scratch so-called diagrams that came with them. Plus they are like 40 lbs of glass and nowhere to hang them from. What was I thinking?! They better look good!

http://www.theribbonerie.com/

I''ll have to take lots of fun photos of the ribbon''ed stuff we got. What a super cute shop too, you''d die!

Great job on all the work you''ve done too Gypsy I can''t wait to see how it call comes together for you, pat yourself on the back as well, you''re in the home stretch!!

Wow - it sounds like everything''s coming together. I can''t WAIT to hear all about your weddings (and see pics, of course).

Only 108 days away. Nothing is done and there is no hope in sight.

Blinky - I love those flowers. I'm using paper pomanders.

Okay, let's see if I'm organized enough to remember where I am with things:

-FI's wedding band came in last week, and it's gorgeous
-met with DJ last week and finalized all song choices
-FI is taking a half day on August 6th so we can go get our marriage license (it's only $20 in the town we're getting married, so it will be worth the trek)
-FI made an appointment for this Thursday to take his suit in for tailoring
-had my first dress fitting last week. Near disaster, just as I'd suspected. I knew the seamstress shouldn't have ordered me a size 10...it was too tight on my hips and she'll have to let it out now, before she can even hem it. Sigh.
-I have an appointment Thursday with a new hairstylist, who will (hopefully) also be doing my wedding hair. Previous hairstylist of 4 years disappeared off the face of the earth a couple months ago, and I didn't like the last girl a friend recommended to me.
-invitations went out three weeks ago, and 44 (of 105) people have responded so far.
-my shower is this Sunday! I'm psyched.
-I still have to figure out what the heck to do with the box of corks I bought for placecard holders...but I think I may steal Gypsy's idea, since it seems easier than my original idea (although I anticipate a need for glue).
-have to find a suitable vase for the well-wish cards that I made.
-I have to get my MOH to give in and let me know when and where I need to meet up for my bachelorette party, so I can figure out if I can make it to the baby shower that my friend is having that morning. I think she really thinks that I don't need to know those details. Yikes.
-need to drop off ribbon to the cake maker, and change my order from round cake to square. I no longer care that it'll add an extra $1.00 per head...I really want a square cake, darn it.
-the photographer is all set! I'm so excited, and so grateful for Allison D.'s profound generosity!
-the deluxe suite is booked for my wedding night and the night before (also thanks to Allison D.).
-booked a room for the Best man (his gift). Still need to pay for it ahead of time, so he won't try to pay.
-secretly changed the ice sculpture order to a Batman Signal in honor of FI. He has no clue.
-secretly booked a limo to pick FI and best man up at our house to bring them to the ceremony. Also a surprise, that may end up being let out of the bag early, considering FI's current insistence on getting ready at hotel rather than at home.
-Everything's set with the J.P., I'll probably just call her once to confirm everything.
-ceremony guitarist has the list of songs to play. Now I just hope he'll actually show up (although sweet, he's a tad flighty at times).
-ordered cameras for tables.
-ordered some personalized items for MOH gift.
-designed menus and placecards. Will print/glue/assemble when it gets closer.
-thank you cards are printed for bridal shower and wedding, and they are all set to go when needed.
-need to buy good makeup, as I've chosen to do it myself. A friend of mine made some good recommendations.
-meeting with cousin on August 5th so she can assemble my veil.

http://www.judithjohnson.com/book.php Thank you Sarah, here is the link to the author''s website! It''s a great book. We did our ceremony last night. We are leaving certain parts of the ceremony up to his uncles''s discretion so it was fairly easy. I think it''s going to be really good. John''s worried it will be too short. We''ll see.

Krissie, Oh honey, you sound frazzled! I think figuring out that punch recipe should be at the top of the list… drink spiked punch… and lots of it. LOL. Best of luck with the move.

HI Musey, it’s okay. No need to make lists or think it about it right now, there’s time. ((HUGS))

Blinky— OMG! Those flowers look amazing! I’m in absolute AWE. And you’ve lost weight!! Honey you aren’t behind at all. You need to get the invites out, but it sounds like you’ve got that planned. As for the makeup—can you ask a friend or co-worker for help locating someone? YAY on the jewelry! Are there any pics?

Lucy, you are on the ball!

Violet—yes please post pics of the ribbon! Just do one chandelier, so that the people who put the rest together can figure out how it looks. Um… do you have a bridal party that can help out with the chandeliers? If my MOH were in this state, that project sounds like one I would ask if I could have her take over. We’ll pat each other’s back.

Hi ZOE!!! Thank you! I hope we are all as happy and glowing on our wedding days as you were.

Stephanie. OMG. “Nothing is done and no hope in sight!” Do you need some help? Is there anything we can do? That was a joke right. Right??

TB—You are rocking on this lady! I love how thoughtful you are being, and your surprises for your FI. WOW I’m impressed! Why glue? What kind of glue? Wood glue?

IWPO—I’m trying to decide between plain white paper hand fans (about .70 each) or sandlewood fans (.99 each). I’m leaning toward the sandlewood because they are really lovely looking. What kind did you get?

HI Kim! Thanks!

Had the local promo shop print these for us, worked out to be 1.14 a fan.

Oh, how I wish I were kidding. I think that I am just under a ton of stress right now. I got a new job (which is wonderful) but I will be flying all over for training for most of August. And everything is booked, except for the officiant because I am still holding out hope that a family member will do it for us because it would just be so much easier that way. My DIY list is raging out of control because I thought "Hey, I have 15 months to do all this!" Yeah, not so much anymore. It's under control, just scared that aforementioned new job will be taking away from available time to work on projects and my OCD won't let anyone else do it. I can't seem to lose any weight (but have noticed some tone) so I don't want to take my dress in for fittings. Haven't had a single hair trial or makeup trial because I work two jobs right now and don't have the time... That turned into quite the vent there - sorry!

Somehow it's all just snowballed. I think that it's worse in my head than it is in real life. If some of the little things don't get done, it won't be that big of a deal, I suppose. But I have a time line and I plan to adhere to it. I'm sure that I will be turning to all of you guys for some serious help here soon!

Oh, and we still don't have an ironed out guest list. How fun.

I've got to go buy tioletries for the basket in the ladies bathroom

Hmmmm, we never thought about this. I think that we should discuss that today. It is a very nice touch.

What are you putting in it?

ETA: I love the cork place settings. If you need any extra corks, I bet I create a few between now and Friday night.
