I woke up this morning and realized I''m getting married in three months...and still have a SILLY amount of stuff left to do! Where''s everyone else in their planning? On track? Out in left field (like me)? How goes it?

Hey doodle! Your wedding is just one week after ours
1.gif

Wedding: 10/4/08

Still to do:
1) Book baker (doing that this weekend)
2) Book florist (minimal flowers, just bouquets and bout.s, should probably do that this month, though.)
3) Book hair stylist (YEESH I have been procrastinating on this one)
4) Buy/rent reception decorations (mostly centerpiece lanterns and drapey fabric)
5) Finalize ceremony script (it's in its 2nd draft right now)
6) Come up with a plan for escort cards....

I think that's it... other than the stuff that can't be done 'til the last minute, like seating charts.

Oh here are the more minor things:
-Decide on a veil (yes? no? style?)
-Finalize jewelry plans (have necklace and FINALLY chose my wedding band, WOOT!)
-Cancel tux rental because we bought FI a suit, instead
-Buy FI's wedding present (I keep waffling on this!)

I'm 10/4/08 as well!

I've done everything but the following:
- Hair Trial (already booked makeup and hair)
- Dress fitting
- Work with officiant on ceremony details
- Send out invites (they're in the mail on their way to me now)
- Order the last of the favors (closer to the date)
- Order bridesmaid purses and shawls
- Jr. Bridesmaid Fitting and shoes
- Measure ring bearer for tux
- Deliver fabric to tailor (FI is getting tie made out of my dress material to match exactly!)
- Get the marriage license
- Finalize menu details for reception

Then we have crazy stuff to do like:
- polish silver teapots and accesories for table centerpieces and side flowers
- Assemble 3 3-tiered chandeliers for the tent
- Build PVC guestbook table backdrop

Otherwise I'm waiting to pay for stuff or waiting for stuff to be sent to me/completed. I have all major vendors already booked. Also I do have detail stuff to do like seating charts as well not a big wedding though so no biggie.

Agh! I feel like I have so much to do still! Three months and nineteen days as of today!

-MOB is working on making the two bridesmaid dresses.
-Both Moms need to find dresses!
-MOB is making my veil, and I will be trying on a mock-up at my shower in August.
-I need to make my headpiece.
-Need to find my jewelry and shoes.
-Need to find gifts for attendents.
-Invitations! See thread just posted.
-need to decide on lots of small round tables, or long tables for reception
-book hairdresser and make-up artist
-find ceremony guitarist
-schedule my dress fittings
-tux rental
-figure out ceremony details
-book FI''s hotel room
-order our rings
-get the marriage license
-do engagement photos! We have been big slackers on this.
-FI needs to make favors (BBQ sauce, home canned)
-FI needs to make program

I guess I really need to make a master list for everything...

Hi Ladies! I''m October 4th as well, and mostly all of the big things are done - its just the small details that remain - and I think I am too stressed/nervous to list them... ;)

I forgot one!

- Take engagement photos (august)

I''m relieved at how much I''ve gotten done already. Phew.

We're getting married October 2, but we're "eloping" but have totally dragged our feet on a few details....

-- We booked our photographer, but have yet to connect with him to discuss what we'd like to do on the actual day.
-- I still need to apply for the permit to take pictures on the National Mall and parks area (we live in the DC area).
-- Still need to look up the procedure for getting our license and certificate.
-- Still need to book a hotel room and place to have our wedding dinner with parents and my brother and his sister.
-- I still need to find shoes (yikes) and figure out my hair and make up.

I know that it's nowhere as elaborate as people having a more traditional wedding, but my job is ramping up (I work in the political field), so I barely have time to breathe. Oh, and we still have to book our honeymoon to Europe, but we're waiting until the fall since we won't be going until next spring.

hi fall brides!! Almost there!!

October 11, 2008

I think we''re doing ok. I was hoping to really get ahead so we''d have free time to handle any last minute items but I''m usually lucky to feel like we''re on schedule.

We just got back from a 2 week trip home during which we were able to:
- take our engagement photos
- do our cake tastings
- attend a Co-ed shower in my hometown and a co-ed shower in his hometown
- hand out invitations at our co-ed showers (which helped make up for some of the cost of getting our invitations reprinted after we found a big typo)
- finalize rehearsal dinner menu
- visit rehearsal dinner venue
- do wine tastings for wedding menu
- hand out bridesmaid gifts (wanted to give them necklaces early so they wouldn''t waste money on jewelery for the big day)
- try on my actual wedding dress!! (man was I sweating bullets about that hehe)

We were also able to see all of the crap that I''ve ordered and had delivered to my parents house (after buying a ton of glass votive holders and charger plates in TX I realized we needed to get all of our wedding stuff to NY so I made a point of ordering online and having it delivered to my parents so I could see it when we were visiting). Luckily I was happy with the candles, guest book, placecard holders, OOT gable boxes, favor chinese takeout boxes and I''m glad I was able to see them all in person.

What we have left to do:
-Finalize the ceremony and give it to my newly ordained bro-in-law so he can start practicing
-Finalize wedding wine choices
-Make the placecards (we''re going to punch leaves into them and put red, orange, or yellow paper behind the leaves to denote which menu option each person has chosen)
-Make the programs (we have all of the paper, just need to figure out the content)
-Finish making the jeweled votive cup holders that we''re using to hang the candles from our tree centerpieces
-Come up with a seating chart (we''ve started but obviously have to wait until all the RSVPs are in)
-Set up a hair/makeup trial (tried doing that while were home but there were some glitches)
-Decide on wedding shoes (couple of pairs are in the mail and will be here Monday)
-Dress alterations
-Create/mail rehearsal dinner invites (since it''s OOT for almost everyone, we''re doing seperate invites)
-Buy candy for candy buffet (will wait til we get home in Oct for wed)
-Apply ribbon/card to OOT boxes
-Appy ribbon/card to favor boxes
-Buy contents of OOT boxes
-Pay for everything :P

I''m sure there is other stuff I''m missing, but that list is depressing enough already :p

Oh thank god for this post. It might get me motivated or at least vaguely organized.

9/21/2008

Well, I have 74 days and I want this whole thing over and done with. Granted I’m in a pretty miserable mood this morning so that’s probably greatly influencing things.

Things still left to do:
Meet with catering manager to finalize a few details this Saturday at 10:30.
Engagement pics on Sunday. Check with photographer that fires in Big Sur won’t necessitate a new shoot location.
I don’t have my invites in yet and I just sent my envelopes for addressing.
Follow up with Florist on new quote following floral order changes.
Set up hair/makeup trial date with vendor.
Find or replace lost favors (if I can’t find them we’ll do donations to a pet charity, probably Milo).
Get marriage license
Get paperwork for officiant
2nd dress fitting on the 19th of July. Figure out undergarments for that. Mom is coming along.
Escort cards/placecards
Chose ceremony Music selections
Buy veil
Confirm tux order, get Best Man’s measurements in.
Find/buy earrings for gown
Ceremony script and vows
Seating for reception (once RSVPs are in)
Evites for rehearsal dinner
Tell MOH and Best Man to get on planning and inviting for the Bachelor and Bachelorette parties.

ETA: Forgot a couple:

Wedding Bands ORDER THEM.
Get John to decide who on his side is doing a reading.

Im a 10/18 wedding.

Things left to do:

Finalize flower options (we have picked out florist and some flower options)
Get fire license (if we want to put floating candles or anything in our centerpeices like FI wants, we will need to apply for special fire license. They said getting approved is easy, so it is really just the elgwork of going onut there and describing what we want. could also include a nominal fee)
Book a DJ (including deciding on a playlist and ceremony music)
Ceremony performer (If we do not go with another DJ set up we need to book someone for ceremony music)
Grooms and Groomsmen Tuxes (we know where and what we are getting we just need to go get measured and place the order)
Groom Shoes (is that something he rents with tux? They are brown tuxes so black dress shoes won''t do)
Finalize alterations on my wedding dress (i went in and got measured with it. i just need to try on final product)
Decide on ceremony script (we have no idea what we want to do for our wedding, right now its baout 5 mins long)
Create escort cards and table numbers ( I have an idea of what I want just not sure how to go about making em; probably MS office)
Devise seating chart (i have some rough ideas depending on who RSVPs and such
Send out my invitations (they should be here in the next week or so. they are already addressed for us, I just need to assemble and stamp em to send them out.
Decide on a hair and make up artist (also decide if i want an onsite one so I can get pics or if I want to just go to a salon and save some $$)
Finalize bar choices with venu (we have the option to start and end a per person amount bar at any point during our event. We will have an open bar all night, however, we are deciding if we want to do the whole thing on consumptio or if we want to have it per person for some time near the beginning when everyone will most likely be drinking.
Have my veil made ( i alsready know what I want I just need to have the women make it)
Finalize jewelry (have a necklace that I am pretty sure I will wear, need earings).
Order both my wedding ring and FIs ( i have mine picked out, he has no idea)
Wedding gifts for parents (maybe a photo albulm)
Wedding gifts for groomsmen (I got my ladies taken care of)
Get marriage license (there is a little bit of confusion which county our venu is and therefore what kind of license we can get and where and the price of it LOL)
Drop off inspiration peices to cake maker (we are having her make sugar peices for our cake in the shapes of game peices, she asked for the game peices to model)
Create and assemble OOT bags for guests (we have alot of OOTs I want to do something simple but nice for them. Need to know who is actually coming and where they are staying first though).
Pay the 3 month and final deposits to appropriate vendors (we owe 50% to our main venu and then a ton of lil deposits in the 10 days before and final day of the wedding)
FI needs to get passport for the honeymoon (YAY I have mine! He lost his...silly man)
Decide on outfit for East Coast reception (following wedding and honeymoon)
Determine rehersal dinner (his parents will be setting this up. we just need FI to tell them where he wants it to be)
Rehersal dinner invites (i am thinking I will help FIs mom with this I know she hasnt done anythign like this before (hell neither have I)
Jack and Jill shower (his mother [i know this is kind of a NO NO but she insisted] is planning us a jack and jill shower. It was supposed to be for just me but i talked her into a joint one since I dont know anyone over here and she would be inviting mostly FIs family and friends and I felt really weird about the whole thing. We asked that she mention "no gifts" to the invitees. so hopefully it will be more like a late engagement/just all around fun party!
Finish wedding website (need to add an "about the groom" and fix the times and the website will be ready to go live. I think ill just send the moms the link to send out the respective families)
Finish registry (we just need to edit the sheet color and put knives and a pressuer cooker on our regitry and that is done)

Wow...I was thinking I was done. I was thinking, ok just gotta book a DJ and decide on flowers and I am in the clear.

I am sooooo not done!

I should probably print out this as a list and get crackin!

Oh yes, I need to make my alcohol choices too. I''m working on what I want my signature drink to be.

Thank god for my wedding planner, seriously. She''s only part-time but I don''t think I''d have nearly as much stuff done as easily without her. I met with this great calligrapher last weekened who is doing the table numbers, touching up our monogram, programs, menus and printed cocktail napkins and guest towels. All that part of the job done in about an hour vs me getting online and doing a million things, plus at a low cost!
