Eeewww, I just saw the grossest thing at the library.

My library once a year has a book sale. 15 cents a book

So I went today and looked at the kids books. I saw a cute book and as I was flipping through it, there was a page with a HUGE bloody booger in it. Blech! iwas so grossed out, I stopped looking for books and just left the library.

Beyond gross. Got me thinking about how dirty library books probably really are. Yuck.

Used books and also libary books really gross me out, so I buy almost all my books new (I find ones on Amazon that are lower than retail) and never check out books grown up from the library. My kids, on the other hand, bring home about 10 library books a week. Luckily we've yet to find anything as discusting as a bloody booger.

I''m the same way. I would not check out library books for my kids when they were tiny. But as they have gotten older, the libary is so imporant and they love to go and check out tons of books each week. I still get grossed out about books on their beds. I''m not normaly a germaphobe type person, but it grosses me out.

I love amazon! I even have an amazon.com visa and 3% caschback on my purchases there!

I'm not a huge germaphobe either, but (and this is gross), it has crossed my mind that a person may have been reading the book while in the bathroom doing his/her thing!!!

Super yuck!

ETA - and when my kids were tiny, I bought books too. It's when they begin getting into series with 40 books (like Magic Tree House) that there isn't any choice. Buying all those new would be $200+.

LOL on the magic tree house. I think I own that whole series. And several other series as welll thanks to those big Scholastic book order packs.

And yes, the bathroom thing has occured to me. And apparently now nosepicking, something I had not though of before. And what about bed bugs? Ewww.

Eeeeeww!!! Bloody booger book!

GROSS!!!! Anyone who knows me knows that I hate boogers more than most anything. I so hate that people pick their noses. YUCK.

hahaha..the bathroom book.. lol! have you seen that seinfeld episode where george takes a book into the bathroom with him, tries to return it, they find out that he used it in the bathroom and then it''s flagged?

You know, I check out library books on a regular basis, and I haven''t really thought about all the gross things that could be on one. I''m not much of a germaphobe, but I definitely don''t like to find food remains or any kind of gross-looking stain inside a book.

I love the library! I worked in two for a total of 5 years, it was one of my high school and then college age part time jobs. Checking in books means I''ve seen some nasty stuff over the years, but those books, if and when found, are taken out of circulation most of the time. A small spill on a page wouldn''t be, but truly gross books are removed from circ and the offending patron has to pay for the book.

How do you politely ask someone to pay for a book that has a bloody booger in it? I would imagine they''d say it wasn''t from them, and that could get to be a really awkward discussion...

I didn''t personally see it, but a thousand years ago I had to prosecute a guy who was obsertved masturbating into a library book. The odd part was the book-"The Pictorial History of World War II." I''ve never forgotten that.

That''s disturbing on so many levels!

I''m a teacher and I have to touch my students'' papers constantly - and sometimes there are some questionable stains, odors, and during cold season, germs.

So, library books don''t scare me too much. We have an absolutely amazing library system and I heart it completely.
