ok, so i recently received an eternity band with 3 pointers. hubby is working solo on my big anniversary upgrade

but won't tell which anniversary it will be

i want to wear my current set but the wedding band is soldered to the e-ring and when i wear them all together it's just too thick for me. i thought about having it unsoldered but the eternity band cannot sit flush with the current 6 prong setting. So, i have to get a new one if i want to wear the rings together

. i'm thinking of keeping it a solitare that would allow for my eternity band to sit flush. i am also thinking about adding some sides stones to add a little more bling. I really like Kaleigh's ring with the pear sides. what are your thoughts/opinions??
here's a pic of my eternity band

If i go with the solitaire/no side stones...i like this one from dirtcheapdiamonds..

One option might look like this

And the other...
assuming the sidestones are small enough ans set to allow the bands to sit relatively close - "flush" might not work anywhere but Photoshop

oh WOW Ana, your photo shop skills are AMAZING. thanks so much

OMG- Ana your photoshop images are Da Bomb.

Wow- Mrs S I like it either way. How nice.

yeah, me too. i wore the whole 3 ring set to a play last night and put the solitare next to my eternity band. it just looked so classic and beautful, which was the actual look i wanted when we got married. either way i know i would like it but once again i am in position where i must decide
20.gif

Okay girlfriend -- out of curiousity...how big is your current stone? Cuz it looks like a WHOPPER in the pictures! Lucky girl...getting an upgrade from that...

Secondly, I LOOOVE both looks that ana photoshopped!!! I almost prefer the solitaire with the eternity band, but I also absolutely ADORE kaleigh''s ring so...I''m at a loss here. I don''t think you can go wrong either way. That''s a nice dilemma to have.

Firegoddess,
i have small hands, 3 1/2 which makes the stone look bigger. It's a 1.19 but it's an european cut so the diameter is only 6.5. it doesn't look as big in real life. it's amazing how friendly the camera is to diamonds
2.gif

i really do love the solitare but have been longing for a little more "bling." my hubby really likes pears so i thought it might be a way to incorporate them. but the solitare with the eternity band is so nice...i would like to decide soon so it will be done before our vacation in a couple of weeks..

mrssalvo,
You can post my ring anytime. The band that was in that picture is not the one I were regurlarly now. I have a new eternity band from signed pieces and it looks great with my ering.

Kaleigh,
what band do you wear now? gotta pic
9.gif

I vote for getting a new setting with pears!

I LOVE round stones with pears on the sides....Just delicious!!

mrssalvo,
Sevon''s does, but it''s taken in a ring box, and not on my hand. Sorry

Kaleigh,
is it in your ring thread?

ok to add a little something different to the endless possibilities...this one is at my jewelers...

No we were waiting to post it and never got around to it. PM Nan and she will send you the pic.

I know I am big lover of bling, but I really like the solitaire look with the eternity band...it''s so timeless and classic IMO. I always love to see a big honking unique solitaire head with a diamond eternity band. Or TWO...one each side..mmm!!!!

That last one you posted looks pretty but the prongs seem extra huge on both the big stone and the small stones and me not being a fan of overpowering prongs or too much metal--that''s not my fave!

what about something like this? I think this is beautiful but may be a little to fancy for me, if that makes sense

I LOVE thAt!!!

Set that a little lower into more of a ''basket'' where the pavilion of the stone is visible with a thin ring of pave around the middle and that is my idea of a beautiful unique solitaire!!
31.gif

something like this!! or more of a 'basket' though I really love love love this head....it would look fabulous on a plain platinum solitaire...then I wonder if you wanted to add pave to the band later you could salvage the head?

woops didn't mean to post this whole collage, just look at the 4th side/head image!

mara,
i have always lOVED slammie''s set, thanks for posting the pics..

I am partial to the solitaire with the eternity. Id stick with a basic tiffany style solitaire.

Like that too... a lower basket more in proportion with the stone does it for me as well. Like the piece below.

If the band could match the make of the "circle" around the ring stone, all for the better.
Along this line, the ring in the pictue below would fit a channel-set band made with french-cut sapphires. Since you already have a diamond eternity band, I would try to see how a rim of round diamonds of the same size would look around the ring stone.
Just an idea

What choices!

Well, the classic solitaire with eternity band is so elegant and beautiful...but I LOVE Kaleigh''s side pears--also classic but more bling! And Slammie''s set is incredible too!

I am sure this is not helpful but this could go on forever! At least, that''s how I felt a couple of months ago when I got dazzled by a Kaleigh-type setting at my jewelers and contemplated switching...but then I sae a baguette setting...
30.gif
oooh, but then the micro pave one...
30.gif
I snapped out of it and kept what I have!

Really, there is probably more than one setting that is "perfect" for most people... Can you approach is as to what is more comfortable for you? As you said, you may prefer not so very ornate... can you try on a bunch at a local jeweler? This is soooo helpful. Educate yourself and in the end, go with your gut.

thank you ladies for all of your help. i''ll be heading to my jeweler tomorrow to weigh my options. i''ll keep you posted

well, i actually had a chance to try on some rings while out running errands today. i was surpised to discover i did not like the look of a 3 stone ring with my eternity band
6.gif
so, i''m thinking of doing the pave basket like slammies on a plain shank, for now
31.gif
does anyone know if i can reuse the head and put it on an eternity band later? also, i am kinda picky on how the pave looks around the basket. i LOVE slammie''s, it''s perfect. the pave sits right beneath the girdle
30.gif
i have seen some other similiar styles where there is just a tiny bit of space b/t the girdle and where the top of the pave. here''s a pic of slammie''s

slammiespave.jpg

here''s a pic of a ritani.. can you see what i mean about the distance b/t the top of the pave and the girdle? is this even noticable in person?
