I'm not sure it's so much that science is broken, as the subjects we are trying to apply the scientific method to, stubbornly refuse to bow to having it applied. The concept of "the mind" comes to mind here.

For another instance where science has been highly abused, psychiatry has always been desperate to have the same status as other medical specialties, even though its "diagnoses" are virtually all descriptive, still. That need for status (which drives them although they refuse to admit it), means they have grabbed onto the MRI like the holy grail that is always on the cusp of explaining the human mind, rather than simply as a means to image the organ called the brain.

Scientists can be rightly accused of getting blinded by fact and forget that there are things we are not capable of seeing or understanding be it due to technology not invented yet or that we simply haven't evolved enough as a species. The human mind is the greatest mystery in the universe (imo) and I hope I live long enough to see some of the mystery unlocked.

Hogwash!

Science accepts updates when new evidence meets a bar.
Science is constantly updating what it had accepted yesterday.
That's a GOOD thing.
That means science works, and is not broken.
Some einsteins think science 'changing its mind' means science itself is unreliable and not to be trusted.
But in this case science has not even updated to accept ESP.

What IS broken is believing in stuff for which there is insufficient evidence ... as do billions of people.
This turning off critical thinking is dangerous.

ESP is as real as unicorns, and gods.
They are three real and appealing ideas that everyone in a free country is free to believe in ... but don't claim that science has accepted them as legit.
This article does not report scientific proof of ESP.

I believe people can sense things outside of the "normal" five senses; hence the term "extra"sensory perception. Some people identify and hone their ability, which helps it grow, while others don't recognize or ignore/dismiss (because they've been told they are wrong/imagining) which helps it shrink/disappear.

The mind is the universe but we only see/use our solar system.
