I had my engagement session yesterday and all I can say is that it was super awkward, she basically had really great ideas about like spots to shoot but then she would say go stand there and interact naturally but there was nothing natural about it and it felt just really weird. Is it just me or did anyone else feel that way? Also she didn''t give much in the way of posing us or giving feedback about what looks good and what doesn''t basically I have no clue how these pictures will turn out and I am feeling rather icky about it!

Well I still don't have the pics yet (this week), but we had a really great bonding time during out shoot and photographer pretty much did what yours did.

There was a foot bridge, she told us to go and stand on it. She didn't tell us to 'act naturally' but we did anyway. We basically just ignored her and enjoyed where we were. We talked, kissed, hugged goofed around... occassionally she'd say something like, Can you both look this way for a second, or look down. But that was it. Then we went to some RR tracks. She said just walk up to that sign and back. We did, again just talking and being affectionate at one point she thought what we were doing was cute she said... that's was cute can you do it again for a sec? Then we went to this beach town, she told us to sit here or stand there, or walk someplace else. No posing. Just talking, kissing, hugging, joking laughing. Walking along the shore, same thing. We just did what came naturally and if she liked something she'd ask to to hold it, or do it again, or something. But asking us to hold or repeat something only happened like 4 times during the whole shoot.

But I will say she was surprised how natural it was for us, and we were surprised with how easy it was. We have really great chemistry with our photographer and she's got a mixed/photojournalistic style and is all about catching candids and emotions. So knowing that... I knew there would be no posing. I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience! Especially as our shoot was one of my favorite experiences in the process so far.

Have you ever done any stage acting? Where you have to pretend the audience isn't there? That there is a fourth wall? If you have, it's a bit like that-- ignoring the photographer.

The photographer was super nice and I wouldn''t say that we didn''t have chemistry but it was just weird, she was just like do what you do, and I am usually the more outgoing of the two of us but I feel like both Fi and I froze up I guess I will wait and see how they come out.

DH and I are TERRIBLE at being natural for pictures! We didn''t even do a pro e-pic shoot because we knew it would just be awkward and stiff. I felt really comfortable with our photog, and she tried really hard to sort of direct us, but it''s really difficult to try to tell people how look like themselves. I thought we were doing really well at our wedding and that I would love the pictures that she tried to "pose" us romantically for, but the only pictures I really loved were when we were actually being natural and didn''t realize she was taking our picture.

Our photog gave us a ton of direction for our e-pics. I loved how they turned out.

Engagement session??? Someone enlighten me ...?

Well I just got a teaser shot, the composition, the light, the fiane :) adorable, me on the other hand...I look like a goon, it''s a horrible angle, I just noticed that I forgot to put lotion on my elbows so they look ashy, and my nose looks enormous!
