Good luck tomorrow, YayTacori!! I hope it all goes smooth as silk for you and you are discomfort free, the whole time!

Thanks Enerchi! My teeth didn't hurt very much this morning so I was kinda freaking out about my surgery but now sitting here it hurts like a mofo! So I cannot wait!

Yes, just coming over to say good luck - I hope you get good drugs, and its a fast and painless procedure - and you can milk it and have everyone pamper you for at least the rest of the day, if not several

Thanks! I'm gonna try to milk it as much as possible. I asked DH to go rent to Magic Mike so that I can watch it in bed. I heard the story line is very very well thought out! hahahah!

I just went to the dentist today for scaling & root planing -- was TERRIFIED. Like almost vomit in the parking lot scared. But it was pretty okay. They gave me gas that didn't knock me out but left me Twilighty. For a girl whose never been "high" in her life - WOW! See y'all on a future Intervention!

When I had my wisdom teeth out, I also had gas but it knocked me out so I never really felt the effects the same way I did today -- for a prolonged semi-awake kind of deal. Also I was super young & don't really remember much except that I went directly from surgery to producing live television at a shopping channel. On quite a bit of pain medicine. Wish I could remember more specifics for you in the hopes it would help you prepare but I. Am. Old.

Wow Decodelighted! I'm glad you got to experience some good-time gas! And count me in for your intervention! :naughty:

I had a very easy time with my wisdom teeth. I was in college and home for a break. I got IV sedation ("twilight sleep") and don't remember a thing. There were only 3 to remove, and the missing one was on the bottom - I hear bottom ones hurt more than top, so that may have been a factor in the ease of my recovery. I had very minimal swelling, no complications, and was out at the mall eating soft food (cheesecake) the same day. So not everyone has an awful experience, and I hope yours is like mine!

I highly recommend the sedation if it's an option for you. It's possible to do without sedation, but it makes things a lot more comfortable and easy. I'm also not afraid of dental procedures, but it's just hard to keep your mouth open for the duration of the procedure and deal with the saliva and all that.

Bottom ones hurt more! AWWWWW! I thought it was the other way around! All my three are on the bottom...

I hope it goes smoothly for you.

I had two of mine out a couple of years ago. My BIG mistake was scheduling for December 23.... Ooops. It left me with a really long weekend to recover before going back to work and was in the middle of my school break so no classes to worry about. The anti-anxiety drugs that they promised would knock me flat kicked in after they were done so I pretty much slept the rest of the 23rd and much of the 24th. After that, I was MISERABLE. The pain was awful and the dang ibuprophin (extra stong but still!!) didn't do anything for me. Of course being Christmas Eve, the dentist was closed up for the weekend along with pretty much everyone else until Monday so I had the whole weekend to survive...

The other BIG mistake I made was being TOO careful to keep my mouth clean. I followed the directions I was given very carefully, but I still managed to get dry socket

I couldn't manage to eat anything the first day. By the 2nd, I could manage stuff that was super soft (preferably slightly chilled). (Oh -- don't eat broccoli! All the little green bits from the crown lodge in around the gaping hole and are uncomfortable)

I had to call in sick to work or leave after just an hour or so until about Wednesday the next week (so almost one week after) due to the awful pain and groginess/sickness caused by pain meds (and I didn't even get "the good ones"!). It got better gradually, but the first couple of weeks were pretty tough and I just didn't want to do anything other than curl up on the couch with pudding and flan.

AHHHH! Dry socket is freaking me out! Thanks for the broccoli advice tho! I bought some broccoli to steam after my surgery but didn't even think about those little bits! I did get three different flavors of ice cream. Oregon Strawberry, French Vanilla, and Udderly Chocolate for later when I can maybe start chewing on the little chocolate pieces!

MAGIC MIKE therapy?!? Oh my! You'll be feeling fine in no time! Yes. The story line is riveting. You'll be on the edge of our seat the whole time. :wink2:

T3s are Tylenol 3 with codeine. :loopy:

I'm out! The experience was pleasant! Dentist told me step by step what was going on and the assistant had her hand on my shoulder the whole time relaxing me :)

This should become a routine for me :) haha!

No laughing gas was needed for me. I may sound creepy, but it was interesting to see my teeth getting pulled!

Umm, the story line was um, uh, engrossing :cheeky: ;)) :cheeky: I was caught watching by my 15 year old son - was very embarrassed

Oh, I didn't finish the thread before I wrote a reply.

Yay, YayTacori, so happy you made it through! Now you get the pamper part - diamonds, sexy movies, good drugs, ice cream, back rubs!

Ya! you survived!!! Now... get going on Magic Mike and give us your movie review! :Up_to_something:

Hahaha! I tried not to laugh out loud when I read that your son walked in on you! I'm supposed to compress the gauze! Hahaha! We are watching Arthur Christmas right now. I'll wait till DH goes back to work to watch magic mike :)

Uhh, you're definitely not alone. I was fascinated with mine, and so the dentist gave them to me, so I have my teeth in a little jar of peroxide at my desk at work, including the bits of bone they pulled out of my gums. Sometimes when I am feeling less than brave, I shake them around a bit.

Glad that you went through it painlessly!

I saw it vicariously when on the plane home from NYC last week - the lady over and up one had it on and I watched the 'deeply theatrical performances' by Channing Tatum with a critical eye... heavy on the *EYE* :naughty: :Up_to_something: :naughty: My DD had wanted to go with me to see it at the theatre... and now I'm thinking, I'm pretty glad I did not go and see it with her - it would be just a bit too much knowing we are watching that love god gyrate and we'd both be thinking "Ew - creepy" being with mother/daughter!!! So, I think I'll rent it one night when its just me at home - and enjoy!!!

Oscar winner for best costumes? or best choreography? What's your take on that??? :wink2:

(how's the mouth?)

I didn't get mine! Sadness! Wasn't even thinking to! Bits of bone! That sounds awesome!

Ha! Yes, I'm watching it alone too for that very reason!

As for my mouth, I've decided to power through without the hydros. The way they made me feel was worse than the pain of the extractions. So as of right now, I am on no pain killers and can feel everything........

Dang girl! I hope you're doing alright. I hate pain killers, too. I declined the rx for the strong stuff, and just had advil nearby.. and I didn't even take that. Get plenty of rest ::) and eat lots of ice cream!!! MMMM that's my favorite part about wisdom teeth! Ice cream for dinner!!! :appl:

Glad you made it through ok, YT. meant to wish you luck earlier this week! I am a weirdo like you who likes the dentist! I wish I could have my teeth cleaned once a month!

Ugh.... The hydros made me so sick last night. I was throwing up everywhere.... Sorry for the image. I feel better this morning. Maybe I will have some ice cream for breakfast :)

Thanks monarch665. Yea, I enjoy the dentist totally fine. It's these dang hydros that are making my recovery a piece of crap! One hydro is enough for me to never ever take one again!

LOL. Not creepy. I love trying to see what my dentist is doing by trying to look at the reflection on the light or his goggles. Sometimes I wonder if it's ok to ask for a mirror to hold or something, but I figure that it might get in the way.

:wavey: YayTacori=--- guess what movie I'm watching tonight??? Got a nice bottle of 2010 Cab Franc breathing at the moment, have Apple TV downloading as I type... and then... some big time Channing Tatum action is about to happen on the Enerchi family room TV!!!

how are you feeling today?

Hahahah! A mirror! You're braver than I am! I could only look at the teeth after they were extracted!

I started watching it yesterday but felt super super nauseous so I went to sleep. I finished it today tho :) I sure am glad I watched it alone! I'm a pretty vulgar, mind in the gutter person but that movie would even make me uncomfortable if I didn't watch it alone. But! While I was watching it, my senske guy rang the doorbell! And my door has a large portion of glass and he probably saw all the gyrating! Embarrassing!

Edit: I'm such a dork. You probbaly don't know who my senske guy is! He's my lawn fertilizer guy haha
Oh and I also wanted to add that the story line was amazing! The acting, I say compares to the likes of Tom Hanks. Oh yea, that good. Haha! Who am I kidding! It was prettttty bad! As for the stripping... I gotta say there were some parts that made me wish that DH was at home with me! Oops! I've said too much!

Oops edit again: I'm feeling much better today. Just some slight bleeding. No nausea. I've been checking out my holes with a flashlight. They look like a dark abyss...

Enerchi! What did you think of the movie!

I was surprised it had a storyline to it! It wasn't bad... Nothing deep and I guess it put a decent light on the variety of reasons behind why people perform - the strung out aimless innocent brother, the driven owner, the guy-trying-to-make-it-big hero...but mainly, I just enjoyed watching Channing move! But all I ever think of in movies like that, is the STI risks! 18.5 nursing years in that line of work, and its pretty hard to stop thinking "wear a condom! Don't sleep with him/her!" Kind of sucks that I just worry about chlamydia or herpes instead of focusing on the story!

Hahaha omg! You crack me up Enerchi! Herpes IS the gift that keeps on giving tho!!

;))
 happy to entertain you! Now you'll hear me in your head when you see that in movies! It's like a curse...not being able to just enjoy the passion, without thinking "STOP!!" My kids think I'm a real killjoy.

How is your mouth doing? We're you ok for your Saturday event?

Thought I'd check in on you and am glad it's already over and you are on the road to recovery. Seems like you are having too much fun at the same time too. :)) So the theatre is this weekend? Or is that already over too?

I'm glad it went well! You know you can just take Tylenol if you're not taking the harder stuff, right? Most of the prescription pain meds have tylenol mixed in, so don't take them together. But one or the other is OK.
