J is a rookie police officer and today he was in a pretty bad car accident while on duty.

J was driving, lights and siren on, to a call when he was hit going through a red light intersection. He was t-boned, by his off duty lieutenant (what are the chances right??) who failed to yeild to J's emergency vehicle.

J is one being held responsible, although common sense would make you believe that he didn't do anything wrong. J is going before a "board" of some sort, and as a new office is justifably concerned. J wants to be police office, this is his life ambition and he's a good cop...but now it's all in jeopardy. I can't understand how he could loose his job over this, but apparently he can and he'll soon find out. On top of that, he's pretty banged up--although after leaving the hospital insisted he wanted to return to work immediately. He's just a good guy and a great cop.

So please, if you have any dust...send it J's way...he could clearly use it. The kid just bought his first home, he and my sis are pretty serious, and he doesn't deserve this at all...

Thanks.

Prayers for healing and a positive outcome headed his way!

Lori

I hope it turns out well in his favor

Dust and prayers for J. I have a soft spot for police officers everywhere and hope everything turns out okay.

If it makes you feel better, my current partner went through almost the exact same thing about 5 years ago--was going through an intersection at a red light with lights and sirens, and was t-boned by someone coming the other way. The other guy waited 2 years before he decided to sue my partner, but he did and my partner was tied up in court and legal proceedings for the next 2.5 - 3 years. However, when my partner was finally able to explain to the judge what happened, she immediately dismissed the lawsuit.

OMG, I''m very sorry about this

Italia - My first boyfriend was a police officer and the same thing happened to him while I was in India. It was the worst experiance of my life since I couldn''t do anything, and he was new to his job as well. The difference was that he was t-boned by a civilian, who later when on to sue the city (wth?!?). I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. I know that within the police community, things can get very political. I hope it doesn''t turn out that way. Please keep us posted.

Dust!!!!!!

He got his board meeting date which is in three weeks, but is still working normally so there has been no disciplinary action as of right now. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.
