We rescued Lucy off the streets in October and weren't able to place her in a home as she is a little bit of a particular lady, and because she's black and some people don't seem to care for black kitties. Then we tried to intregate her into our household with our resident cats and well... it hasn't been sucessful. So we've re-doubled our efforts to find her a home... and toniight we may have gotten a lead on someone who is looking for an only cat (perfect) who is a lap cat (also perfect). The lady is home all day long and has had cats and understands them. I don't know yet if she would be okay with a black cat (that seems to be an issue for some people) yet, however.

So, I'm hoping we'll hear more from her this week, get a reference check on her (including a vet check on her to see what her vet has to say), then maybe do an intro.

We'd really love for Lucy to find her forever home.

Alternately, we have heard from a couple of no-kill , no cage, rescues who might be willing to help us find her a home and let us use their resources to advertise her (after a temperment test).

So if I can... I would really appreciate some dust for my Lulu. She's a good kitty who needs her forever home.

Aw Layla, I hope things work out and your Lucy will find her forever home.

I am sending tons of dust your way sweetie.

Dust in spades - my beloved kitty who passed away last fall was black as midnight with the sweetest, most loyal attitude you could imagine. Can''t believe people are that superstitious. Hope that things work out for Luce!

Aw ... and while I was typing, you posted a pic. Such a cutie!

Thank you so much Linda and Circe. It's hard because we love her and she has great qualities our other cats don't have (she's a lap cat, for one) but this can't be the rest of her life. She's starting to get vengeful after even positive introductions with our cats to the point that she's starting to distrust us and attack us or ignore us or yowl until she's hoarse. It's not the inconvenience of any of these... it's the fact that she's a very social cat, who is becoming anti-social. She actually prefers to stay in her room then to come out. Even when it's just Duncan (who completely ignores her) out here.

I'm sorry for the loss of your beloved baby Circe. If you would like another, we are (dead seriously) willing to ship her to the right home at our expense.

*dust dust dust*

I hope for the best for you guys and Lucy. :)

Thank you erica honey.

Gypsy:

Your Ms. Lucy sounds a lot like my Maya (who's been dubbed "Miss Maya" where she boards due to her abundance of attitude). Maya would like dearly to be an only cat, while Squeaky wants nothing more than for Maya to be his bestest friend!

I hope everything works out well for your Lucy!

Tons of dust for Ms. Lucy I hope and pray this home works out and ends up being her forever home.
She is a gorgeous kitty who deserves love and comfort.
Bless you Gypsy for helping a kind defenseless kitty who needs a warm home.

here too. She is a beauty!

More dust for Ms Lucy from sunny Ontario. My mom, a big cat lover like myself, finally took in a stray all black kitty. She was a very superstitious woman and at first didn''t want anything to do with him, but kept leaving food outside and watching for him. He worked his way into her heart eventually, and she took him in after having him checked by her vet. ''Midnight'' was her loyal companion for many years and after her move to a retirement home, her vet kept him as an ''office kitty'' as he was such a sweetie.

I''m keeping my fingers and toes crossed for a wonderful loving forever home for Ms Lucy.

TONS of dust for sweet Lucy - she is such a little lovey girl, I''m sure someone will want to give her a good home - that one person sounds like she''d be perfect, and Lucy would be perfect for her! TONS of fingers and paws crossed and dust headed your way from our house.

Lots of dust to Ms. Lucy!!!
She looks like a very pretty kitty and I hope the new home is a good fit.

***Lots of lucky dust for Lucy***

I''m a sucker for black cats, so it always kills me to remember that they''re generally the first cats put down in shelters and the last ones to be adopted. Stupid superstitions.

Lots of *****dust***** for Lucy, I hope she finds her forever home soon.
You are so kind to do this for needy kitties

Oooo lots of dust headed your way for Ms. Lucy---My Max was a black beauty and we have another black kitty now, sending you lots of good vibes :)

Dust for Lucy!

Thank you all for the dust. No word yet, but I am hoping I will hear something tonight after folks get home from work. She is a love and we will find her the best place for her, I just think it is in her best interest that happens sooner.

BUCKETS of Dust! ****** That is strange that black cats are an issue for people. Do you think that''s because of superstitions? Seems silly to me.....

We had a black cat growing up "Ebony" and she was the sweetest thing ever. I sure hope this is Lucy''s forever home!

Sending you lots of dust.

Thank you Mia and Snlee... another rescue group called us, she''s on a wait list with them for an ''only cat'' foster home. They are no-kill and very fussy with their placements, so it is one of the few places we might consider fostering her to.

Gypsy,

Our family (which includes an entirely black cat) is sending oodles of dust for your LuLu!!

We never really think about the fact that he''s black until Halloween comes around & we worry about him escaping (indoor-only cat) & getting taunted or hurt

Best of luck finding a forever home for her -- you are doing a wonderful thing by taking her in & taking the time & effort to place her in an appropriate & loving home!

Oh little lucy... lots of dust being sent her way! I hope she finds her forever home soon

***dumps dust on miss lucy***
