Golf. But my DH is very generous, and never says anything to me about my spending (and I don''t work) so I would never say anything to him about what he spends on golf. It''s more annoying that it takes up a whole day - 5 hours on the course, usually an hour there and back for his favorite course.
Ditto.

As for me, I am in between hobbies. I used to do a lot of riding (horses), which really got expensive, so I do not do that much. I have taken up golf, a little, but it is kinda meh for me. I guess I like more "active" stuff.

DH likes to read, hike, garden, cook, see plays and movies, and travel. Traveling is the most expensive of his hobbies, but it doesn''t bother me at all because I get to go on great trips! He played tennis for years and it is my goal to get him back into it, but he''d need someone to play with and that won''t happen until we move closer to a place with a tennis club. He''ll have to get ranked again which I''m sure will cost something, but I don''t care about the money, I just want him to do something active that he really enjoys.

Yes and no. My BF and I met through a local European car club, so I kind of share the same hobby he does.

But he is set on supercharging or turbocharging every car he will get from now on, where as I don''t need to go Forced Induction with my cars. And with expensive European cars, a good turbo kit starts at 20K-35K, and only goes up from there! Very expensive every few years! And makes him a complete target for police and the insurance on a modified car like that is pretty rough. And he races everything, so it is dangerous.

But I am a hypocrite since I have the same hobby!

expensive? yes. makes me worry? ehh...not really.

BF loves his video games and collects swords. it''s actually not too bad money-wise. a new game for his Xbox 360 can average $60 but the entertainment value last a while for him. he''s also really picky about his swords so he only buys them once a year, if that. i''m suspecting that he''s growing an affinity for nice watches though...

my hobbies are way more expensive than his though. i love photography and equipment really puts a drain on my wallet! i collect antique and vintage cameras too. i also love cooking, baking and decorating cakes, so i''m always spending at the baking/kitchen supply shops. oh yeah, did i mention i like jewelry too?

BF says i have expensive taste, but i wholeheartedly disagree! i just tell him that i happen to like activities that coincidentally cost money to partake in.

DH circuit races in a car he built himself. We both work full time to pay the bills, and we each have a second job for ''play money'' I do with mine as I wish, and nearly all of his play money goes towards racing. He probably couldn''t or wouldn''t do it otherwise, he makes sure the bills are paid first, and spends whatever the budget will allow on his car. As for safety, I actually worry more about him driving to work! The track is set up well and is very safe. Cars are not allowed to get too close to each other, or they are waved from the track. The company he races with have very strict guidelines regarding safety equipment that the cars MUST have, and the driving qualifications that the drivers have to have before they can got onto the track.

Overall though, speed being a factor, it is a dangerous sport, but done properly it should be pretty safe.

Nope. I'm the one with the expensive hobbies

He told me I should get back into horse back riding to ease my stress, but that's quite a bit for lessons every month ($200 per month and it's only one half hour lesson per week; and that's a low price around here). I'd like to take cello lessons again too, but that would probably be a similar cost and I just can't afford that right now.

FI's hobby is playing intramural sports, which is a pretty cheap hobby to have. That and video games, but he only spends money on the highest rated games and considers his purchases carefully, so he only buys maybe 3-4 a year.

ETA: I mentioned something about wanting to be able to afford to lease a horse in a few years, which would be much more than $200 a month, and he almost had a heart attack.

DH loves to fish... some of his buddies spend $800 on fishing poles. And the bass trips can run a few hundred bucks. I don''t usually about his safety, until a story about drowning fisherman or fishing accidents comes on the news.

My hubby''s biggest hobby is computer related stuff, which is expensive, but not dangerous. And still, not as expensive as my gem hobby

trill- hockey may be a somewhat expensive hobby, but I hope it does not make you worry much

Nothing that worries me... but he does spend a lot of time/money on fantasy baseball. I kinda wish he didn''t do that as much because I think it''s a waste of money, but he really enjoys it so I try not to say anything about it and I think of it as just money he''s spending on his "hobby".

Bodybuilding.

Gym memberships, Protein, Supplements...

His hobby is to fly small airplanes. I don''t feel worry when he flies, I''m pretty comfortable since he is pretty caution. But it''s a very expensive hobby, around 180 per hour, so sometimes when i think all the things we could do with that money

, but well, that''s his hobby
