on your checking account?

Yep

Nope, I dont put that much money in my checking account.

Yes, but it's not very much. We're talking like 20 cents or so every interest period, lol.

yes it does, but it doesnt pay very much...i dont get paid very much lol

Yes but they have dropped the percentage SIGNIFICANTLY over the last two years. They advertised 4.9% on accounts up to 25K and you had to use your debit card to buy things 15 times in each monthly period, have a direct deposit setup and some other thing too. And you could only have one account per person (like one for me and one for him). Every few months they seemed to lower it and now it's like 1% or something now, and they've lost customers in DROVES because the paperwork on the account states itw ould never drop below 2.9% and then they went and dropped it to the 1% or whatever and then increased all the ways you have to meet the criteria to get it. People were freaking out about breach of contract, etc. We are back to looking elsewhere though because my husband is livid about the whole breach of contract thing.

2.23%, not much :blackeye:

Nope. And the service charges are crazy expensive too.... It used to be free debit transactions if you keep a minimum $1K balance, but now they charge you $3.99 for up to 10 transactions a month... And if you do more than 25 transactions a month, it's like $10 or more.
The Canadian banking system is just a regulated oligopoly that's out to nickel and dime you for everything you have. It feels like you lose money just by having a bank account :angryfire:

Checking is 3.5%. Savings is about .5%.

why is checking higher than savings?

We don't have checking accounts in Australia - too much drama with forgery and now practically no businesses will accept them.

Getting about 5% on my normal debit account, 7ish% on my high interest (was 9% when I started it about 4 years ago).

Dancing Fire it is a credit union. They set up criteria for you to get that including pay checks are direct deposit, you use their bill pay service which is free and you use your debit card 10 times in a month.

yes but not enough to offset the monthly charges.

Is a checking account the same as a current account? If so, no. As far as I know, UK banks do not pay interest on current accounts.

About 5 cents a month when I haven't bought any Hermes bags.

Some of the Scottish ones do. Eta, I think some of the English ones do too now? I think Lloyds does.

That should teach me to open my mouth before checking.

Nope. But I don't keep much in my checking account so I'm not concerned about it...

so is mine...i keep about 6k in my checking and i've only been receiving like 22-37 cents per month...

DF. My credit union started this checking plan about a year and a half ago. It's not bad. They also refund all my ATM fees which I think is really nice.

LOL! I just looked at my account online, and I made a grand total of £0.94 in interest last month. So yeah, we're both right. They pay, but virtually nothing...
