Does it seem like ebay has become very sparse?

I went looking for a simple solitaire setting on ebay. Usually I just type in solitaire setting or mounting and get pages of options. Today, there were less than 10 pages of options. Has anybody else noticed this?

Yes, actually! I can't figure if people are replenishing their stock from the holidays, waiting for the V-Day push, or just gambling that metal prices will keep rising and they'll be able to make more of a profit in a week or three ....

I've noticed the same thing. Some sellers that I frequently browse have gone from pages upon pages to just a few items.

I think people are tired of the bidding wars and want faster gratification from sites like Amazon. I've noticed smaller volume but it is really present all through Ebay and not in just the jewelry category.

Ebay has gotten really expensive with fees and such. A lot of people have already established their businesses and are able to conduct transactions with customers off EBAY.

I'm going to put up some of my old Tiffany silver stuff today. Hope somebody's looking for Valentine's day. It's my 2nd try -- could not seem to get the listings to go up before Christmas; even time on the phone w/eBay personnel didn't help. Hoping it'll work better this time. Want to get rid of this stuff.

Yep, the fees are crazy and then on top of it, there are the Pay Pal fees (and many use PP b/c it's safer than money orders). I sell a few things every month on eBay but do not like selling jewelry b/c it's risky. The last two items I sold were both electronics and one took a month to get to the buyer, and I was totally sweating that!

The quality is not what it once was, about four years ago tings changed. I used to buy very nice things, including a complete set of Rubans by Christofle flatware service for 12, amongst other things.

I think things changed when they made the bidding anonymous. I often suspect now that the bidding is rigged. I too often see what I am bidding on ramped up in price and then the person suddenly disappears. Or, the bidding is ramped up in the end if I feel I am paying a good price.

If I had to pay money to advertise or list on eBay I'd wait a while too.

Don't holiday VISA bills hit consumers right about now?

The Los Angeles Times for the Sunday before Christmas was twice the thickness as the one for the Sunday after Christmas.
