If so, how did you learn. Jewelry class?, on-line tutorial? Book?

I ran across this while I was googling wire knitting and crocehting online. It looks like a lot of fun. There is a beading/jewelry making place near me that evidently had a class in viking knitting last month, but I don't see anything scheduled so far for January.

Viking Knitting involves knitting with wire to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc.

Viking knit is quite easy to get the hang of. You just need time and patience. Make a practice piece first so learn how to make even stitches and then you can move on to precious metal and double weave. Try it!

Thanks! I thought it was a long shot to see if anyone here has heard or has done any Viking knitting. I am going to AC Moore and Michael's on Friday and hope to buy some wire and other materials to get started.

Do you use an allen wrench or a wooden dowel to do your project on? I am just trying to figure out what I will need to practice.

I use a metal rod, but I can see how an allen wrench would be great for keeping everything nice and even.

I admit that I don't do a lot of viking knit. I prefer other stitches that are done with a hook on continuous wire, since that doesn't require adding in new lengths.
