I think this is the first time I''ve asked for dust....
DH had a job interview last night with a huge company that will open big doors for us. I am hoping, PRAYING that he gets it.
A little bit of background for anyone who cares:
DH runs an auto shop where he makes great money. The downside, however, is that he works 13 hour days, six days a week and I never see him. It''s a dead-end job with no light at the end of the tunnel. He works directly underneath the owner and has the same exact responsibilities without any of the rewards. Doing what he does now, if we ever wanted to move someplace else there is little to no chance that he would make the same amount of money doing the same exact job. Additionally, he is sick of the industry.....wants out. But DH did not go to a 4-year college, just a two year trade school for automotive technology. He can''t do anything with his degree but be a mechanic or run a shop. Well, he can, but it''s hard. Jobs like the one he interviewed for are few and far between!
The good news is that DH said the interview went well. The guy met him after work at a restaurant. DH noticed that the guy brought his family along (seated in a different part of the restaurant), probably because it was late in the evening, and figured that the interview would only last about 20 minutes because of that. Well, they sat and talked for an hour and a half! We hope this is a good sign.
The second good sign is that the interviewer has a background very similiar to DHs....trade school, mechanic for a little while, ran a shop, wanted out, and got this job.
We aren''t sure about the pay yet, but if it''s less than what he''s making now I''d be more than willing to work THREE jobs to make up the difference.....only because this job will allow him to have a 40 hour work week, full benefits, and he''d be able to transfer anywhere he wants in the country (all he would have to do is make a request). The latter is especially important to me because I really want to get out of TX next year when I graduate (I''d be willing to wait a longer if he got the job and needed time to show them that he was valuable).
This job would be a dream come true for him, for us, and I almost cry when I think about him not getting it! I am almost hesitant to even post this in case I jinx it in any way. There are four other applicants, and right now we''re just waiting to find out if he gets called back to meet with the higher-uppers.
I would love some dust. I''m trying not to get my hopes up but it''s hard!
