I''m fascinated by the idea of a steam mop to clean the tile floors in my kitchen and bathrooms. I was doing a little research on them today and there seem to be a lot of options out there. I''d love some firsthand feedback if someone here has one.

TIA!

I''ve tried several and didn''t like any of them. Some of them are hard to push across the floor. And, it irritates me to only get a couple of the mop head pads and then to see in the directions you can''t wash them w/other items and can''t use detergent..I''m not doing a whole load, even on the smallest load setting, for 2 little white pads a couple times a week, and hard as I tried, I couldn''t get the pads even remotely clean in the sink. Sucks too, b/c you can REALLY see how dirty your floors are when you look at the pad.

I''ve tried the vac type floor washers too and they work, but don''t get the floors as clean as I''d like, they''re loud, and the money isn''t worth it.

I''m back to a mop and bucket..grrr.

It''s a love hate relationship. I found it great when I didn''t have pets because it would get up all the small bits of dirt. However, having animals who track in large bits of dirt, staticy hair that STICKS to the floor, etc, it just doesn''t work. I now do a good old sweep and then down on my hands and knees with a rag washing up the floor.

A friend of mine was just RAVING about hers on Facebook-she said it''s amazing and that her floors looked cleaner than they ever have. Let me go see which one she has...okay, it''s the Shark Steam Mop. I was intrigued but the only room we''d probably need to use it in is the kitchen and the regular mop seems to be fine for there. We have hardwoods everywhere else and they look great with a regular mopping with some kind of special hardwood stuff my husband uses. (I''m the vacuumer, not the mopper!

I have the Eureka Enviro Steamer (cannister style) and I absolutely love it. I have used it for over 5 years and it has a number of attachments. I clean my all my tile floors, my shower tiles and shower doors, toilets, etc. The attachments help me the get to the hard to reach places, like under the toilet rim.

I wash the floor pads in the wash with my regular towels and have never replaced them.

I have also used the steamer on my area rugs, to fluff them up.

yep a love hate relationship for me too... I love the steam mop to clean up like crayons on the wood floor or tile, but when you have a large area to clean, it sucks! the replacment pads don't work as well - it keeps flipping up and the steam seems to only come through the middle portion of the mop, hubby does the mopping in our house. I do feel it sanitize (must be a mind thing

) and I don't have to use anything but water. I have the shark steam mop (I wonder about the H20 triangular mop but didn't want to spend three times as much) it works fine new, but once its been a year old, I feel like I need a new one. Just like my swivel sweeper (i like it, new, but after a year, I think its time for a new one too!)

I''m going to have to check this one out. For some crazy reason, I thought putting in 2" white hex tile in each bathroom was the bestest best idea ever. I do love it and it is perfect for the age/style of our home, but it is a beast to clean. Our kitchen is regular 12" tile that''s nuetral and while it never looks dirty, I KNOW it''s filthy even after I''ve mopped it. I''m thinking one with attachments would be a great idea as I also have wall tile in my hall bath. We inherited it with the house, but it''s white too!

Whatever I buy, I''m going to have to sneak it into the house as DH is anti-gadget and I''ll buy every gadget that catches my eye, especially if I think it''ll make my cleaning life easier!!

I bought one of these 4 or 5 years ago and hated it. The one I had didn''t seem to do very much and it took FOREVER. I''m hoping I''ll do better this go-round.

I don''t think Eureka makes this cannister style anymore, but there are other brands out there that do. I love the attachments as you can use one to just clean the grouts lines if you want. My DH is always borrowing it to clean the garden tools and steam cleans the car engine (yep he does). Maybe I should get him one of his own.

The triangular one, the H20 mop..I messed up my shoulder using that one, having to shove the sucker across the floor..no effortless gliding like they show on tv. It got the floor clean, but after ending up w/an Xray and MRI of my shoulder, thinking I''d done some serious damage..yeah, I won''t be using that again. The Shark one, we bought from Sam''s Club and ended up having to drive all the way back to the city to return it..it only cleaned on the front of the pad, no matter how I held the dumb thing or pushed it.

I had one a while back from one of the home shopping channels that worked well..but the water/steam was carried over your shoulder on a strap and I didn''t like that at all.

I might have to check out soocool''s Eureka Enviro Steamer!

Amazon has it for $69. I just put that into the "Beat My Price" website and found a site that has it for $59 but I need to check the shipping cost and return policy before I bite. I looked at Ebay, but the deals weren''t good enough to for me to mess with it in the event I need to return it.

I''ll have to check into that Eurka Enviro Steamer too!

I have the HAAN lightweigt one from QVC. I like it well enough. It does a good job and I wash the pads in the washer and then let them air dry. You can''t wash them with a regular load if you use
fabric softner because it weighs down microfiber. I alternate the steam cleaner with the Hoover Floor Mate. It is loud and noisy but it has brushes. I have a huge amount of tile to clean so it works for
me. I recently saw a bissel model that has a burst of steam button, and I wish mine had that for grout. Maybe with the next one.

I had one. Notice the past tense? Piece of rubbish. Don''t get me wrong, it would be fine if I had lino or ''flat floors'' (KWIM) but with tiles, the steam mops just don''t keep the grout clean. I tried for ages to give it away, eventually FI flogged it on ebay.
