Does anybody else have big feet like mine? Where do you shop for shoes?

So I''m seriously considering having my shoes cutsom made for my feet. They are a size 8.5 to 9 - VERY WIDE. My dad has EEE width feet and he was nice enough to pass them on to his daughter

I used to be able to get away with somewhat ugly "nice" shoes as I was on my feet a lot and needed something comfortable, but now that I''m moving into a much more professional position I feel that I need to upgrade the shoes (btw- I HATE shoe shopping so much that I only buy black and brown and I buy several pairs incase they become discontinued). Where would be a good place to find these elusive wide width professional shoes?

Have you tried a site like Zappos.com? They have a very broad range of shoes and seem to offer a broad range of widths as well.

Zappos does have a lot. The only thing is they''re very expensive! I bought a pair of shoes that I found on sale at the Nord. 1/2 yearly, so they were especially cheap at $59.99, but the normal price was about $20 less than what Zappos charges. . .

These are the ones I bought:

Oh, and for wide feet, have you tried Keen shoes? I bought the following shoes and they''re wide. Cannot remember if they''re a 8 or 8.5 but I have to wear thicker socks since they''re wider.

I have the opposite problem (long narrow feet!) but I've found that Cole Haan carries shoes in narrow and wide widths and a lot of them have Nike Air so they're very comfortable.

I'd also recommend Zappos-you can search by category, color and size. I'd choose dress shoes in black and brown in your size and see what comes up!

ETA just did a quick search at Zappos and it looks like the brands Annie, Fitzwell and Naturalizer make a lot of extra wide dress shoes. There were also some by Bouquets and J. Renee. The great thing about Zappos is that they offer free shipping both ways, so a lot of times I'll order 2 sizes of one shoe and ship back whichever one doesn't work for me.

Don''t know where you live but Nordstom/Nordstrom Rack have larger sizes.

Most naturalizers are still too narrow

and I WISH I lived near a Nordstrom! The closest one used to be 2hrs away, now it''s 7hrs away. I''m going out to look around today so I''ll see what I find.

I understand about your big feet...and mine are a couple sizes bigger than yours.

There were a lot of other brands on Zappos-not just Naturalizer. Are you opposed to ordering online? With a specialty size ordering online will really be your best bet.

I''m a 10, and my sister has 10 wide, so I feel your pain!

There''s a store here that specializes in wide shoes. I haven''t been in there, but it sounds like a great idea. Is there possibly something like that in your area?
