I''m debating between the martini and traditional settings. Would prefer something set really close to the ear, so I''m tending towards the martini style. Diamonds will be small, about 0.3ct each. Would anyone recommend the 3/4prong regular setting instead to prevent sagging?
I have .38 each martini setting earrings. They do not sag at all whereas the regular 3-4 prong basket set earrings I have do sag. The martini seems to go into the hole a little bit which helps it look like it is set into the ear and reduces sagging. Another bonus with the martini is all you see is diamond which is really good for the smaller studs like mine and the size you are considering. Get the martini--you''ll be happy!
I have found exactly the same as ID...my old basket prongs would sag and I hated how they looked. My 3 prong martinis lay right against my ear and in fact look bigger and better because of how they look as though they are sitting right on the ear. My stones are .38c each.
I LOVE the 3 prong martini and can''t believe I ever wasted saggy ear time on 4 prong baskets!
After reading various posts about earrings and sagging, I opted for the martini setting for my first pair of diamond earrings. Good news is they don''t sag .75 ct in each ear.
I also have the 3 prong martini style earrings, roughly .81 in each ear. Mara probably described it best when she said they sit right against the ear and it does make them look larger! No sagging here
Pics would be great since I''m not sure that the term ''a martini'' setting would mean much to jewellers in Belgium - may be wrong since I haven''t asked yet.
I love bezels. What do you all think about bezels re saggging and light rtn? I''m thinking 1.50tcw..
