do you wear glasses or contacts?

I wear glasses. I''ve tried wearing contacts a few times but I couldn''t get used to them so I stopped. The constant irritation wasn''t worth it.

Contacts during the day, glasses at night or when my eyes hurt.

I''ve had glasses since I was 5

Both. I can only handle my contacts for about 10 hours, then it''s glasses.

I''ve worn glasses for 21 years. Contacts for 15.

I am suppose to have Rigid Gas Permeables which are a pain the in butt...so I mainly wear eyeglasses unless it''s a formal function and I''m getting really dressed up!

I wear glasses. I wore contacts for a long time, but I got to a point where my eyes couldn''t tolerate them any more and they became more trouble than they were worth.

Both. Contacts during the day, glasses when I get home (if I remember).

I wore contacts for years too, but once I needed bifocals I couldn''t be bothered trying to find ''the perfect fit'' so it''s back to glasses.

Funny this topic came up..since I just had an eye exam (while out of town a few days ago), and can now hopefully wear glasses!! (YEAH)
I have been wearing contacts for about 25 years..from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. I have tried wearing glasses, but everything seems so distorted..walls and doors look rounded, concave, instead of parallel lines. I feel drunk, and could never adjust to the feeling. It's hard to explain, but my optometrist said, "I guess you're just one of those people who can't wear glasses". This sounded very strange to my SIL who works for an optometrist, and was eager to have her doc, look at my eyes. So when I was down her way a few days ago..my eyes were examined in depth (one hr.)..and the optomitrist concluded that I have something called Prism, and that would explain why everything looked so distorted through glasses. She couldn't believe that after years of eye exams, trying different lens in glasses..etc, the optometrist never picked up on it. (Its something they don't normally test for, you have to REALLY look for it). Anyway..I picked out a very cute pair of frames...looking foward to looking like the naughty librarian, in a few more days!!

. Now, when I have an eye infection, or I need to take the contacts out for two weeks prior to having lasic surgery..I finally have a backup. It's been rather inconvenient to wear contacts 24/7 for the past 20 some years. I can't believe that I could have been wearing glasses all along, if only I had seen an optomitrist who REALLY knew what he was doing!! They really are such a huge fashion statement now adays..you can get so many cool looking frames, to match every and any outfit you have!!

I was told that if the prism had been detected years ago, and I wore glasses then..it would be hard to fit me with contacts now..so I should be thankful it happened the opposite way. I can't imagine NOT being able to wear contacts..ever..they have never bothered my eyes, and I still think my vision will the contact lens will always be better than when I'm looking through eyeglasses. However, it is nice to have the choice!!

Does anyone wear funky or colored contacts??

Glasses since I was 5. I tried contacts, I had horribly dry, red eyes and always looked stoned, never a good thing at work!

Nope, I have pretty fantastic vision, and am extremely thankful! I see what FI goes through with contacts and glasses and would never want to experience that!

glasses since i was 8, contacts since i was 18, still wear glasses at night, i don''t like wearing them tho because i experience the same symptoms as beau mentioned

I''ve worn contacts for 20 years - in fact, when DH and I were dating, he bought them for me because I complained so much about glasses giving me a headache. I''d love to have laser surgery, ''cause my doc said I''m getting to the age where my short vision will start deteriorating! If I''m gonna need reading glasses, it would be nice to not have glasses and contacts.

Both.

Glasses at home contacts when I am out & about.

Same here. I haven''t worn my contacts for a few months though, since the brand that I''ve used for more then 10 years ceased their import in my country. I tried a new brand but couldn''t get used to them. Now I''m on the search for another ones and wear glasses only.

Really Fickle?? I thought I was a rare case..lol. Some people (who wear glasses) don''t understand why I have such a difficult time seeing out of them. At least now I KNOW why..It''s not in my head..it''s Prism darnit! lol

Bausch & Lomb Multi-focal soft lens contacts. I''m old. These are my bifocals.

See my post above.

I love these lenses. Vision-wise. My allergies can make contacts a pain, but like others here, glasses give me a headache.

I don''t anymore, but I used to have cat eye, whiteout, and a spiral design set. They were strictly for partying or Halloween though - not the most comfortable to look through, since despite what they say, I could see the tint.

I tried plain colored contacts for awhile - my eye doctor thought I would look cute with green ones - but the green part moved into my vision too much. I hated them.

Wore glasses until about three years ago. I love them so much more than glasses, since I can wear shades now. I have a pair of glasses but this Prism thing is not as uncommon as you think, because I had it, too. It faded after awhile but I hated the adjustment period.

Wore glasses since I was 5, contacts since 14 (including, for a while, brutal blue ones that you could see across a football field, DF

) , LASIK in 2008... and now I''m 20/20 and don''t need ''em! I was 20/1000 in both eyes walking into that surgery. The doc was amused at my near-blindess.

I wear contacts during the day and glasses at home in the evening. Sometimes during the weekend I might keep my glasses on all day instead of wearing contacts.

Contacts during the day, glasses right before bed. I have worn glasses since 3rd grade, and contacts since high school. I don''t like to wear my glasses because my eyes are very bad (my hand a foot in front of my face is fuzzy) and my only personal vanity is about my thick lenses. Even with the thin variety of lenses, they are still thick. Would love to get lasik. Its a fantasy to wake up in the morning and actually be able to SEE...

Only glasses. I don''t even own a pair of contacts. Glasses are far too fun an accessory for me to pass on.

Glasses and contacts. I''ve worn glasses since second grade and got contacts when I was 12. I hate wearing glasses and usually wear contacts 90% of the time I''m awake but recently my contacts have been making my eyes sooo dry and uncomfortable!

Contacts (Focus Dailies). Glasses only for the time it takes to get from my bed to the bathroom to put in a new pair and the reverse at night.

I almost always wear contacts when leaving the house. I just feel that glasses look too casual and sloppy for some reason, probably because I assosiate them with blobbing at home. I try to wear my glasses as much as possible because my eyes don''t tollerate contacts that well.

Glasses for about 10 years. I only needed them at first for driving at night, and the last few years my jobs have been sitting in front of a computer all day, and it took a toll, so I wear them all the time now. I''d like to get contacts-I''m easily irritated by smudges or the smallest speck on my glasses-but I''m freaked out by the thought of touching my eye.
