If I remember correctly, we''re ending the age of Pisces and are going into the age of Aquarius (Aquarius....AQUARIUS!).

Gah! Is there a fist shaking emotie? Oh that song drives me batty and now it''s in my head! Goh yer just..naughty! Aquarius...AQUARIUS..argh!

Uhhhh....no. And I worry a bit about the people who seem to freak out everytime there''s a new ''end of the world'' superstition. Stop freaking out and just live your lives already!

Drivel. Period. People who believe in it are seriously simple minded.

Have you thought that maybe these "simple" people as you put it so kindly might just be highly superstitious?
In no way they are simple...

Ummmmmm.... No.

Years ago I was working in a small hospital. The entire kitchen staff was convinced the world was going to end on a certain day and left en masse for Arizona.
Well the date came and went and nothing happened so they came traipsing back.
None of us being good large volume cooks, we were glad to see them.

Why Arizona?

Why Arizona?

That''s where the space ships were going to pick them up

How about the 9 million dollar seed vault that they built in Antarctica a "refuge for seeds in the case of large scale regional or global crises"? I think I saw that on one of the 2012 specials.

Supposedly, the planets will align on that date so that the earth is in the center of the Milky Way...

NASA says doomsday is a lie: http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/2012.html

I don''t think the world will end that day...

People who believe in superstitions and allow that to control their lives ARE simpletons. You may feel differently. I do not.

Tend to agree. Highly superstitious pretty much implies that you''ve pretty much abandoned reason as an approach to living. Reason requires a lot more effort than basing actions on superstition.

Also, people just LOVE to have the snot scared out of them. I mean really, how many shows did they have about "end times" in 1999? Now we watch shows on 2012, Nostradamus predicting death, blood, pain, and apocolypse, mega tsunamis and HUUUUUGE meteor strikes, biological warfare scenarios and any number of dystopian futures, and read series that depict the tribulations of the sinful schmucks left behind in the creatively named "Left Behind" series, all 16(!?) books of it, not including the graphic novels and the series for kids. OOooo!! Death! Horror!! Destruction!! Little frissons of delicious terror and promise of retribution for some transgression. Deity will get us/them. Mother Nature will get us/them. Somebody/thing is gonna get us/them. It''s tiresome. And ultimately a waste of time. But then I''ve never been a fan of that stuff. I find reality to be quite serious enough, without giving undue attention to the latest crackpot prediction of death and destruction. We do that pretty well on our own, don''tcha think?

I just think to put people in the boat of being simpletons is a little pushed. We all have quirks and phobias. That''s pretty much what I was reffering to. I have known highly intelligent people that have fears and phobias. One of them was the fear of "dying" and anything that would be related to that, like the end of the world and the such would set her into an un-easy thought process, until she grasped herself out of a panic attack and then would be ok. I guess some people have some sort of problem with something so final.

as for me, I don''t care. It will end one day... Bring it on!

Haven that''s excatly right about entering the age of aquarius. I don''t think the world will end (cos I''m sane

), I think 2012 is significant because that''s when the calander starts over again. Like the way the world doesn''t end every new years eve!

In case it does end, I'll be partying hard on 12/21!

My husband thinks there's going to be a 'shift in consciousness.' We'll see. Maybe just like the 'missing link,' we'll all move up a level in awareness or something along that line and there will be a huge gap where archaeologists/anthropologists cannot explain what happened.
MC
hope it doesn't end on Dec 18.

Mabye pick up a keg on the 18th just in case!

I think this explains it.

It had better not end-I''ll finally graduate from college that year!! No I don''t believe in any of those superstitions.

I've also heard that sll the planets will align on that date (dec 21?) 2012 and that is the other reason people are freaking out. This will supposedly cause the poles to change on our planets and create all these different natural disasters (i.e. earthquakes, volcanos erupting, hurricanes, etc) and that is how it will happen. (eta: saw this was addressed already, my bad!)

As for the mayan calendar, I think they just got tired of writing it all out, can you imagine the hand cramps! lol

I personally think it will be like y2k and nothing will happen but I do remember I was only 15 during y2k and I convinced my parents to give me 2 wine coolers that night ("what if the world ends and I never get to try a pina colada!" haha)

hahaha Luckily my kids will only be 10 and 12 and the most they''ll get (which is outside of what I normally permit) is a 2-liter of diet moutain dew!

I sure hope not. I plan to TTC in that year, God''s willing.

Will it end? Probably not.

Is it intriguing that so many cultures, from so many different eras, have pinpointed - - something? - - happening in 2012? Absolutely. I love a good mystery.

But with the everyday tedium I''m facing at the moment, I''m not at all opposed to exchanging this for ''Paradise''.

(Of course, that''s where I''m headed. And I resent any implication otherwise.

I don''t believe in this bunk, but if it were true, it would be FABULOUS. I can''t think of a better way to go...no one I love left behind. Everyone dies together. No sorrow, no grief. It should be a fantasy rather than something to be feared. We should all only be so lucky.

This is a very good way to look at things TG, thanks.

If everyone dies together, I hope population control is not an issue in the afterlife. I hate standing in line.
