I''ve seen a lot of threads about us noticing other people''s diamonds... it seems like PSers are always sneaking a look! I try to, but I often just forget to look at anyone''s hand.

And I almost never notice diamond studs or earrings on other people.

Do you think non-PSers -- like the salesgirls, or coworkers, or whomever you encounter -- actually notice your diamonds?
 
I know some do, because I get comments on occasion. Other than that, I dunno.

I notice some check out my ring. I don''t notice regular people but definitely the people who check me out at the register when I buy anything definitely look. I know because I get a compliment as to how unique and pretty my ring is almost 2x a week from different people and different places. As for other consumers just doing their own stuff, I don''t know if they look. I''ve had 1 or 2 come up to me out of the blue and comment on my ring, but not really more than that. It''s funny how many haloed rings we see here in PS, but it''s still not that common around where I live that people get taken aback when they see mine. Same with cushion diamonds and people ask me what shape my diamond is as well.
 
I get comments all the time, so yes, people do notice.

A coworker today actually ripped my hand out of my jacket pocket in the elevator to show another coworker my ring.

It does look extra sparkly in the elevator!

Yes, I am sure they do. Especially someone who is waiting to get engaged or just got newly engaged. It''s a normal thing to check out others diamonds, I think.

LOL!! My sparkles go nuts in the elevator too! Too funny.
 
I''ve gotten a few comments from cashiers, a few from coworkers, and a comment from someone when I was on vacation in the Cook Islands. The girl (who is a cousin of my cousin''s from her other side of the family) was astounded at the size of my ring. She is from NZ and I am guessing that engagement rings there typically don''t have the size of stones that you often see in the US so seeing something of my size (a modest 1.06 carat square cushion) was new to her. She even went so far as to call my ring a boulder which I found interesting because I am surrounded by many rings that are bigger than mine socially and at work so I wouldn''t use that term myself.

I also got a comment from the sales lady at Tiffany&Co. Though, I''m pretty sure that was to butter me up because I was looking for a wedding band and had spent a considerable amount of time trying on their selection. I actually laughed out loud when she said she thought my ring was huge because there are so many jewels in their cases that trump my stone by a long shot. I''m sure she sees rings bigger than mine on an daily basis.
 
When I wear one of my pendants, I catch people glancing at what I''m wearing. Same with my earrings. After wearing my diamond studs all the time, I''ve begun rotating through sets of colored studs I own and it''ll be interesting to see if anyone notices.

Yes..mostly my rings. It''s hilarious because I will notice in a meeting or something if I am gesturing a lot with my hand or moving it up near my face, I will see people''s eyes follow my hand then linger for a few seconds. But mostly only when the rings are clean.

Pendants and earrings not so much. And I only notice large jewelry in general so if someone has a huge ring then I will notice. Or if they have HUGE earrings like diamond studs, I always wonder if they are real, hehee.
 
People comment from time to time but probably less often since I'm a guy.

One time does stand out in my mind.
I played piano at an music event at a friend's house.
The room was dimly lit but they had halogens over their Steinway's keyboard and my ring was on my right fourth finger, which faced the listeners.

It must have been the perfect scenario for seeing a nice asscher in action because afterwards it was clear that nobody heard the music.
They were all taking about the light show and grabbing my hand for a close look.
I really hated that.

I get comments mostly on my rings... from strangers, friends, and family. My rings look AWeSOME at work - the lighting here just really makes them sparkle! My hand doesn''t even need to be in motion! (It is my favorite thing about work!

I get comments on my ring somewhat frequently, but more often catch people looking at it. I think it is sort of funny, especially when I''m talking to someone and then continue to look at my hand even though I am not gesturing or anything. It is flattering I guess.

I''m probably also more aware of it than the average person because I LOVE checking out other people''s rings, but try to do so without being so blatant about it. My favorite place was always riding the El in Chicago because so many girls would always be holding the poles, chair backs, etc. for balance while reading a paper or otherwise spacing out. You can get some good ring-gazing in without them noticing too much!
 
Yes, I''ve gotten compliments from cashiers and waitresses before.

My co-worker used to come by my cube several times a week and squeal at my ring all the time when I first got engaged.
 
Not that much, just 1 'friend' who checks all jewelry in our group

I don''t have much jewelry to speak of currently, so I don''t think people take too much notice.

When I get my engagement ring, I''m sure I''ll get a few more glances, but nothing extraordinary (it won''t be a PS honker or anything).

However, I always check out everyones jewelry .. and I mean everyone.

Yup. I get comments a lot - particularly in great lighting (Department stores especially)...

It''s really the most beautiful piece of jewelry I have. I love my ring.
 
Yes, I think they do and mine arent even that big by PS standards.
 
Yes people check my diamonds out, and no they are not impressed. I work a block from Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and my 1.75 is pretty dinky in my neighborhood.

When I walk on the street at lunch or before or after work I see people checking each other out from head-to-toe in this order: handbag, shoes, jewelry, clothing.
 
They do, moslty when I sign the credit card receipt.

They better....and then they better think they are fake so they don''t try to konk me on the head and take them from me.
 
Nope, strangers don''t. But I am very unobservant so I might be wrong. People at work comment on how big it is even though its only 0.59ct. I guess diamonds are low on everyone else''s priority list where I live and they just get whatever size fits their budget, which is probably 0.5ct max since retail diamond prices are RIDICULOUS here in aus.
 
Yes. I get compliments almost daily on my diamond. It''s very flattering to me, and of course I love it!
 
Not a soul.

My day to day routine takes me through Palo Alto though, my diamond is micro by these standards. I LOVE checking out the ladies at the Stanford mall - my goodness

They do! A saleswoman at Crate & Barrel went gaga over my set today, it was a lot of fun.
 
Yep, almost daily but then again I work with the public. Oh, last month when I was at the hair salon this woman in the chair next to mine asked to take photos of my hand...I think she took 2 photos of my rings..Anyway, to be honest it made me feel a little uncomfortable. I like attention as much as the next girl but that was a little abrasive. I cannot imagine what I would feel like with 5 or 6 carats on my finger.

Oh, and I look at things that catch my eye...I don''t automatically look for diamonds but if the bling factor is high..well, then I cannot help myself

I was at dinner tonight and 3 grown women approached our table and talked about the light show---- but to be fair it looked REALLY good in the lighting there.
