Oh, please. I don't see any of our other minorities that have been mistreated in the past posting stuff like this. Only Kenny does, and Kenny also brings his sexual orientation into just about every post he makes here. He has to add it in like it's a thorn in our sides and he enjoys poking at it.

Most of us here tolerate him just fine because he IS smart, and he shows it in a lot of ways. But posts like this and the insanely huge chip on his shoulder about his sexuality just irritates the majority.

Kenny, read Soberguy again. He had it spot-on. When you make way too much about your gayness, and lead with it all the time, it's gonna get hit. Simple as that. If I posted a thread asking if my hetero-ness impacted this that and the other, I'd expect to be hounded. It just ain't relevant.

You seem to see EVERYTHING in terms of gender. And if someone disagrees with your take on it, you get all pissy and accuse them of misandry, like you did me. (BTW, the DH got a major honk out of THAT little bit too.)

And yes, it's absolutely possible to be a genuine discriminated against minority AND STILL have a chip on your shoulder.

You really should try (at least here on PS) to be Kenny the gay guy, rather than the gay guy who happens to be named Kenny.

Umm...I understand where you gals are coming from, ksinger, MonkeyPie, T-Gal, Holly, and deco. I think Kenny does engage in some of the behaviors you suggest. But I also agree that being a minority makes one want to protest one's status. In my opinion (which is only my opinion), homosexuals are treated far more harshly in many ways than are women, and yet I chafe at and resent postings that in any way undermine what I consider women's "progress". I get angry and I post my opinion when I feel women have been aggrieved by anyone. I can understand Kenny, as a member of a minority, doing that. And if he annoys me sometimes (which he does), I post about my annoyance. He can always post back at me. I post about a specific posting of his or about a trend in his postings that annoys me.

I guess that's all you're doing. So I don't know why I feel as if I have to defend Kenny. Although somehow I do. So I talked around in a circle. I lost my mind when I went through menopause. Once I was smart.

Deb, it's OK to have those feelings. But as Holly and others have mentioned, Kenny repeatedly tries to FEED them, and makes posts that ensure that he gets responses he can point to, fairly or NOT, as supporting his view of how the world treats him, and then when he gets them, he can go sulk(at the "back of the bus" perhaps?), or better yet, open a secondary passive-agressive thread that is (not so) slyly about the slight he just perceives that he's received. And the only one who cannot seem to see that is KENNY. I guarantee you the rest of us do, and yes, it gets old.

This is really like deja-vu you know, because minus the gay part, I was once married to Kenny. My ex did this all the time. Drove me nuts, and eventually, drove me away.

Did you not read what CUSO was writing on here? I can't even believe some people can sit here and defend him when the way he went about speaking his mind was absolutely disgusting and condescending. Here's the bottom line "truth" in my opinion. The people that "piled" on CUSO are pretty well different from the group who are piling on Kenny in this thread. Which means to me, that when someone is being annoying and doing a good job of it, he's going to annoy LOTS of people in one hit. You put people together for enough years to sit around and gab every single freakin' day and you're guaranteed to get a response at some point that resembles:

I disagree with the bolded part. I don't see this at all, and yet I've seen others write similar things here on PS. Yes, posters tend to pop in with an "I agree" to commiserate with like-minded posters on hot topics, but that is far from a party line, at least in my eyes.

As for the current controversy about this thread, I think the discussion only devolved into pie and drinks once it became clear that Kenny was no longer interested in really addressing any of the responses. I took the time to post a response, and to explain how I interpreted the post-in-question differently, and I must admit that the fact that Kenny didn't respond tells me that he's just not interested in engaging in a discussion about this issue. I think once that become apparent in a heated thread that is when the pie comes out, and the bottles are uncorked. At that point, though--what's the harm?

You haven't been around here very long, or you would know for a fact that I am not "one of the crowd". If there is a crowd. I have, in fact, been on the receiving end of quite a lot of what you consider "ganging up". So, there you go. Theory disproved.

I'm very much my own person, and I choose to out anyone who hides behind pretense to create 'issues' where there are none. I'm also very open about my own opinions, which sometimes fly in the face of the very posters who have backed me up here. So, again, theory disproved.

Nobody is out 'to get' Kenny. We'd just like to have a real conversation that isn't set on auto-pilot to travel this same path.

I don't have anything else to add to this thread because I am wondering if Buffy and Spike will let everyone know they're dating so I'm going to go find out... Do vampires hurt the diamond industry?
