Yes, they look terrible - but I always feel sort of sad for the guy who thinks a combover is better than the alternative (being bald). The choice must come out of sheer desperation, so you can't help but feel sorry for them

I googled combovers and this came up. So, they're not all bad.

But regular, balding very extreme ones do not look good. My grandfather has one and no one has the heart to tell him...But when you're that old, who's going to argue with you!

Telephone, in this case I think what is important is what is underneath the combover, not only that this is more of a upswept brushing than a comb over (the hair on the sides is clipped very short so nothing was really combed over), However that first one of Kenny's is clearly Mario Battali.

Combovers look bad. I think guys who trim their hair short or shave it all off look better than guys with combovers.

And have you ever seen a combover on a windy day? Not pretty and likely stressful to the person wearing it as he tries to secure his unhinged, waving flap of gelled/sprayed hair.

Young guys who are going bald on the sides first sometimes grow out their hair a little longer and do the messy look that is in now, and cover the balding area. That can look okay if the hairline is still somewhat close to the forehead. I don't consider that a combover, though. The hair in the middle is still there and the rest is covered by the sculpture of hair.
