To answer the question, I think for those who get diamond-related push present it helps, but for many moms the focus changes somewhat, and diamonds are not on their minds so much.

certainly wasn't a rule or a practice back in my day......but i admire the marketing behind it even if it does come from moms wanting more bling and not the diamond industry finding a new way to push its product.

I'm in the UK and I got a push present!

An antique 18k ring with 3 OECs (c. 2ct total) - I call them Friday, Saturday and Sunday as I was in labour 53 hours! I also fought a big legal case against my employer which I was pregnant and we used some of the money from my settlement to pay for it.

It's definitely not a rule or the norm anywhere, but it's nice. My father always bought my mother a piece of jewellery for each of us (4 kids). I do tell all the guys I do e-rings for that they need to start saving for the push present though - heck do their wives owe me!

They say there's no compliment like being copied.

Unlike with gays, I don't think anyone bashes and murders and denies civil rights like marriage to non-parents.
I don't think any parents are afraid to be perceived as being a member of a hated group, non parents, by whether or not they wear a diamond.
So I'd say there is no relationship.

Just one opinion from a guy with a good sense of humor.

As much as this is a cute copy cat thread, though. I think this could be an actual benefit of PS and the industry. We basically convey that once you get your diamond and get married, you have happy families and here are there adorable pics. We aren't just high falutin sparkle whores. We are friendly and a real community. Don't you want to be part of that?

I never took photos of my babies w/diamonds on, but I have put my eng ring on my younger son on his finger and it looks HUGE on him. I wonder what size his finger is... size 2? lol
