do you like where you live now ?

We''re right on Lake Huron and I wouldn''t want to be anywhere else from April through December. But we''ll be buying a second house in Florida this year. This past Michigan winter finally broke me.

I live in San Francisco. It''s my hometown and I have a lot of family and friends here which I love. I tried living in Los Angeles, Tokyo and Seoul but came back here eventually because there''s no place like home for me.

If we''re going to live in IL, I LOVE where we live now. I wouldn''t want to live anywhere else in this state.

However, if we were to move out of IL, I would love to live in a warmer climate with a more outdoorsy culture. You know--somewhere where hiking, canoeing, biking, etc. were more commonplace. I''m not sure where that would be, though. DH keeps saying he can''t bring me to Boulder because I''ll never want to leave, so maybe that would be the place.

And our last place was almost 900sf... so this has been quite an adjustment! It's a trade-off, I guess. Our current neighborhood is MUCH better than our last one.

But yeah... I could go for 1000+sf right about now!

I abhor where I live and I cannot wait to get out of here. I think about it far too much, which I am certain only adds to my ire.

We will move back to the east coast as soon as humanly possible. And hopefully by the time we do this recession will have cleared up a little bit.

I LOVE where I live, I love love love Anchorage. It''s gorgeous, there are mountains everywhere, you never know when you''re going to see a moose. I love it! The winters aren''t exactly fun, but the summers make up for it, and I love the temperature in the summer!
The only thing I hate about it is that my closest family members are over 3,500 miles away. I don''t think we''ll be here a year from now(we''ll probably move so that BF can go to grad school.)
If I could anywhere, I would probably choose central Cali. Or probably Washington or Oregon, being within a day''s drive of family would be ideal.

I wish we lived in a place that had more specific seasons.. just uh.. not so much winter. lol We''ll retire from here, and then who knows? I dislike California''s loser politics and taxing people to death. Those are two major motivators to move.

This sums up my feeling on CA''s downsides, perfectly! I miss fall color and RAIN. Oh how I miss rain, and thunderstorms.

I have a love/hate relationship with New Mexico. I know that I'd LOVE to move, but it has less to do with the place, and more to do with the fact that I think I've just been here too long. It's just been too long since I've lived somewhere else.

So I'd LOVE to move, but I'd miss NM so much. What's not to like? We get all 4 seasons (snow, spring, 100+degree summers and the leaves turning), green chile, culture, etc.

What I won't miss is Southwestern decor. Kachinas, red chile ristas and all other stuff. Yuck.

I love the four distinct seasons where I live, but make it priority to go south at least once during the winter, for some of that vitamin D!!

I have to say, I really like where we live. I wish we could afford to live in a house, instead of a tiny townhome, but that was my own fault for buying when the market was at its peak.

I do love our location, though. We live right next to a park, close to good schools, a mile and a half to the beach, about two miles from my work, and (best of all) close to both our families.

Even though both my DH and I lived in upstate NY as babies, we are both pretty much California people. Neither of us has really lived anywhere else, and so I can''t imagine living anywhere else. I kind of wish that when I was younger and single I could have lived in a city like Chicago or DC, but at this point, I don''t think I could do it. Having a little one on the way makes having our families close to us indespensible!

Michelle, you said everything I wanted to, about living in California. I do think we get a little more rain then you do though, being we are in Northern California. My favorite time of year here is Autumn. The air seems to stand "still" if that makes any sense. HA!!!

I like the Midwest. I could do w/out the humidity that makes it feel like you''re trying to breathe underwater, and the horrendous wind chill temps of winter, but those 2 weather complaints aren''t constant. I love the seasons. Traffic and crime are minimal in our town..tho jobs and opportunities are as well. Take the good w/the bad I guess! Plus my family is here.

i love westchester county - sooooo green, right near long island sound, great restaurants, an easy commute into NYC for my husband. i even love the winters and all that icy white....right up until the end of january. then i go out of my mind with cabin fever.

i''ve realized that over the 7 winters i''ve been in NY i''ve increasingly developed Seasonal Affective Disorder, which i always thought was a wimpy kinda thing and half made up. but ever since living here i''ve found that, by march, i''m just about swinging from the light fittings, i''m so stir crazy. i also get very flat and depressed for no reason whatsoever...and it magically just goes away in april. so weird. my husband and i are planning on organizing our holidays in february from now on to break the monotony and i''ll also probably start going to LA for a month.

if i could live without rain, storms and autumn, i''d probably live in san marino just outside of LA. gorgeous gardens and great shopping. i see us moving there in the next 3-5 years.

I''ve always loved being a native New Yawker, and I really like the town I live in here on the North Shore, (people flock here to shop, to eat out, to socialize, it''s very nice) but my house? We outgrew this house many years ago. I bought this house as a single person with an elderly dependent mother and now I have a husband who needs LOTS of space for his stuff and two dogs. My tiny house is only 1200 sq feet and it''s truly claustrophobic! (The rooms are tiny and the layout is bad) Everything we pay for is much too expensive here, so I have no hope of buying a bigger house here. We''re going to have to move out of state to have bigger rooms, an extra garage, more land etc.

I live in Fort Polk, Louisiana -- for three more weeks! THANK GOD!!! This is the most gosh awful place on the planet to live!

I could go on and on and on about the natives of Central Louisiana.... Nothing good has come of this place.

We''re moving to DC so that my husband can attend graduate school at Johns Hopkins.

When he retires from the Army, we''d like to live in Austin or San Antonio.
