Do you ever make people at PS mad?

Well, shoot! The sad thing is that practically every time I make a joke I make someone mad who wouldn't have been mad if he had known that I was joking! (Chalk that up to a dry sense of humor.) If one adds on to that that I used to post to Around The World when we were allowed to discuss politics and that I sometimes forget myself and answer someone back if he has been particularly provocative to me.... The answer is, "yes".

I really do suffer fools gladly. I am infinitely patient with fools. It is nasty fools with whom I have trouble remaining silent ;-).

I try not to annoy anyone, but I''m sure I have . . . especially back in the ATW Presidential Election days!

I miss it. It was just a small group of regular PSers over there having a rip-roarin'' time. Or at least, that''s what my selective memory tells me. I''ve conveniently forgot the rest.

I too miss the days when ATW allowed political discussions. That kitchen would get too hot sometimes but I enjoyed reading the divergent viewpoints and occasionally throwing myself into the fray. Now, I hardly visit that forum any more

In the 1.5 years I''ve been here, I think I''ve angered some people once, to my knowledge. I was probably feistier (as DH likes to call me sometimes) than the topic warranted.

I remember it in the way you do, T-gal, as a place that often reflected the very best positive spirit of Pricescope :-). When Republicans and Democrats were able to watch debates together and agree on ground rules (such as that anyone drinking alcohol had to take a drink if one candidate said, "maverick" or if the other said whatever his assigned phrase was), things were really copacetic! It was truly collegial during those nights. Even if we fought at other times, debate nights were warm and fuzzy, like Pricescope sleepovers for the political among us! I even got to be friends with Holly during the Presidential campaigns. Without them, I never would have found out about Jude Francis and Lucie Campbell crosses from her!

And Deb, I agree about the debate nights. We really had a blast, didn''t we?!?! I think we had a really great group of people over there, Republicans and Democrats alike!

I miss the political discussions too. I didn''t participate too often but I loved reading others'' thoughts on candidates, etc.

It would be easy for me to join in the conversation and speak my mind, but I probably would be tarred and feathered so like I said, I keep it to myself.

Oh I definitely do but it is a good learning experience, too. I try to stay away from very touchy issues that the whole countrly feels so diversified on because this is a sure way to get ripped apart but even small issues may grow into bigger ones. I never expected to get so many responses on my question about cats. But then it opened my eyes on what shelters were. But I was really, really surprized that so many people felt the need to chime in.

Another situation where I feel totally misunderstood is when I made a comment in CS about the way people who "come to my office" dress. For some reason, everyone took it as me making judgment about my patients. Then when I explained that it was not about patients, people felt that I was expressing my feelings about the way Americans dressed compared to Europeans.

In fact, it was neither. I simply miss the East Coast and its way of life. Relocating from one country to another did not hit me as hard as changing coasts. I was just afraid to offer any explanation in my thread for fear of causing more problems for myself. Especially since I DO have a good life in WA; it is just that am a 100% big-city person and Seattle has no underground transportation because it is a seismogenic area. Hence commuting to town becomes a problem and I spend too much time in my suburb where life is much more casual. That simple. Hopefully now no one will take it personally.

I am trying not to take sides in heated discussions on CS although I do have opinions. Luckily I have very little time to watch TV or go to movies so it limits my contribution to random topics, and I have outlets for discussing books.

No, I don't think I've made anyone mad with any of my posts. I am like AprilBaby and like to stay out of the fray, unless it is something that is very important to me, but even then, if I am fairly certain my comment will not change anyone's mind or help a poster see why they are wrong, then I just don't post. I see no benefit to arguing with people over the internet, so I just don't! Easy.

There have been plenty of occasions, however, where I have been completely annoyed by certain posters, but I choose to interpret this as the poster's carelessness in language choice, rather than bad intent. Helps reduce my level of annoyance. lol.

I am sure I have because I tend to state some strong opinions that others didn''t agree with. But I never meant to irritate or annoy anyone. In general (on and off PS), my brain mouth filter has improved a bit, at least I think it has

I think sometimes people use the anonymity of blogs in general to say things in a way that is frankly just rude. From what I''ve seen with PS brawls that was usually the cause. Person A disagrees with Person B''s thread or post and instead of eloquently phrasing their disagreement they make a sassy post because they are anonymous and also don''t see the repercussions (i.e. the hurtfulness) of their comment in person. Not saying that this is the cause of all the controversial conversations on PS just that it''s important to remember that there is a person in front of the other screen. Not sure if this entirely makes sense/gets across what I mean but oh well.

There have been many times when I''ve had a pointed zinger ready to go, and then.... decided it wasn''t worth it, and pulled the plug.

And there have been *ahem* one or two times when I did not hold back.

So in answer to the original question... yeah.

Never intentionally.

Well this whole darn thread has made me really mad!!! I am so mad at all of you now!!

I''m pretty sure she was making a joke about the recent "grammatical errors that bother me" type thread. "intents & purposes" and "couldn''t care less" were two that came up there. But maybe not. Who No''s?
