Strangely enough I call them movies for at home ie. Netflix but often call them films when going to the cinema!

Movie. Never used film unless as a verb. These days with so many streaming options besides regular tv shows and movies, I just call whatever I'm watching by name to avoid the followup of "what are you watching?"

The term "movies" is more and more common, however, I still refer them as films, as in celluloid films.

Movie. Film is occasionally used where I am to denote something that is high brow or informative? "A film about the early days of the monarchy in Canada...", and almost always in print.
