quick background ladies - DF and I have been together since high school, his Dad passed away a few months before we got together, so I never had the honour to meet my FIL. Something I will regret I guess, as he is very highly spoken of and my MIL insists he would have loved me.
Anway, he used to love Akerbilk (spelling?! I am so bad). He used to play his music all the time and was very special to him. It was played at his funeral etc, and the family always thinks of him when they hear it.
Fast forward to this weekend, we were at Precious Metals in Brighton (Holloways Diamonds) trying wedding bands on and DF found a gorgeous band that looked great on him. And got stuck! I giggled and said that is must be a sign. I turn around and DF is smiling with this beautiful smile on his face and he says, so this music is a sign - I couldn''t believe it, Akerbilk was playing! His Dads favorite song. I know it''s daggy but I feel like it was his Dad giving his blessing for our marriage!
Am I mad? I guess I feel really touched by this. His Mum is thrilled, she had a little teary on the phone when I told her. No, we didn''t buy the ring, but I can''t shake the feeling that it is meant to be. I think we have found his wedding band.
On a side note, do you think it''s ok to play some of his favorite music at the wedding? I want to honour him in some way but i don''t want the family to be miserable?
