Or rather, do you "post" your age?

Sometimes, I''m rather surprised to find out a PS''ers age. Some seem older, and some younger, by their posts.

no lol

How old do ya think I am?

People have always believed me to be older than I am. I was raised to be eloquent and so people assumed I must be older. Plus, I never did the things my peers did and tended to gravitate towards older people. Before I met DH who is only a year older than me, I tended to date older men as they were not intimidated by me like guys my own age. That was part of how I got my online moniker actually.

I am 25 and certainly hope I look it, even if I don''t sound it.

23 and look probably 20.

At work I behave, speak, and dress very conservatively... I've found that some clients are expecting their software designers to be middle-aged men, and aren't thrilled to find out that isn't the case

At home with FI, not so much

I'm a grumpy old man who acts immature, so, I guess I can say Yes.

Karl I'll guess your age.

I act like I'm 12, and look it, too.

Well, I have Hello Kitty in my avatar, so...no.

I think I act around my age, or should I say that my age is catching up to the way I act. When I was in my late teens everybody that I met assumed that I was in my early to mid twenties. I''m 23 by the way, but I would kill to be 30, so far I have hated my 20''s, they''ve been spectacularly awful.

the avg PSer is 28 yrs old.

I have no idea - what the heck does it mean anyway? Parts of me are as old as the hills and were when I was a small child... parts of me haven''t changed since I was 5 years old... I''m not sure how to even approach this question.... maybe someone else can tell me how old I sound lol

I''m 25... ppl think I look like I''m 20... my bf thinks I act like 6...

lol

Ugh. I think I lack maturity on all fronts. Or that I''m behind on my developement maturity timeline or something. I just turned 30 years old, but I find I''m attracted to twenty year old things. For example, I want to backpack through Europe. Probably because I''ve never done it, but suddenly, that''s what I want to do. I have no desire to have children yet. I thought by now the biological clock would be whimpering. Or maybe it''s the sense that I''m getting older and have missed out on a lot in life. So I don''t think I act my age. There''s still a sense to me that I''m *figuring things out* which I thought I would be done at this age.

I am 53 and absolutely do not look it. I also have a 17 year old which makes it easier for others to assume I am younger.

I definitely do not act my age...whatever that means. How is a 53 year old supposed to act? I roller blade with my dog tagging along, do cartwheels on the lawn (maybe that''s why my neighbors give me strange looks!) and can climb my maple tree. Do you know many 53 yo that can do that?

I''m 21, but most of the time I think I act like an old fart. People are always surprised when I tell them how "young" I am .. they always say "But you''re so mature!".

Inside, I feel 16.

I think I act and think older in some ways than I am. I''m 21 but I was never into any partying or anything most people in high school and college like. I got married young and I know I was entirely ready for it, despite what others may think of my age. I always found myself wishing some of my friends were more mature because the things that interested them just had nothing to do with anything on my mind. When they were all about shopping, going to parties, drinking, dating all kinds of guys, I was in a committed relationship and couldn''t wait to get married. Now I''m starting to feel ready to have a baby (although I still won''t be for a while!) while most people my age wouldn''t even think of it at 21. I think the way I approach things is in a way someone older than myself would.

But then again, sometimes when it''s just DH and I alone I act like a little kid.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. I'm 26.

I often feel like many twentysomethings are out partying and clubbing on the weekends, but I've never been one to do that. I know a lot of twentysomethings who I feel are less mature than I am.

I have a lot of childless friends in their 30s who I identify with, so if I had to choose I would say I act most like them, so perhaps I act a bit older than my age, but not much. And I can't imagine having kids anytime in the next 5-8 years, so I guess that makes me more immature than some.

eta: Soocool, I love the picture of your schnauzer!! Looks exactly like my schnauzers growing up. I just want to snuggle him.

What month do/did you turn 40 this year Karl?

I''m 30. I think I act my age, though my friends and family might have another opinion...

when i was younger, i think i behaved a lot older. i enjoyed conversing with adults more than kids my own age when i was little. i''ve always been a bit on the more "mature" side- and i think it tends to stem from the fact that i am a realist with almost no imagination. i''ve had a lot of life experience in my years.

as for how i post? no idea. i think it''s often difficult to tell someone''s age by their posting, unless discussing something specific to an era.

btw: i''m 26. do i post like a 26 yr old?

I am 31 this year. People always think I look far younger. Now that I am 30 people think I am mid-20's. When I was in my mid to late 20's people thought I was early 20's. When I was early 20's people thought I was 17 or 18. And so on. I credit my liberal use of sunblock and the running and hot yoga (as Bikram would say "yogis never get old"..ha). Oh, and lots of laughter. Probably some genetics too....people often think my mum is a lot younger than her 53 years (despite her fight with cancer and so on!). I don't have kids (and my clock is not ticking yet either), and am only recently married, and though both DH and I have owned homes previously we are back to renting again and tend to not even be concerned about home-ownership and so on right now, so I think people may make assumptions from that too.

They always then think I look far younger...and that I seem far more mature than I look. Ha. Used to drive me crazy to be thought of as so much younger when I really WAS a lot younger but now I am quite alright with it!

As for how I act...I just act like me. I am not sure there is a defined age for that! I have always just been me and don't give much thought to what "age" I am and whether I am "acting it" or not. While I think I am mature and responsible and have been told over the years I am wise for my years, I also can be downright silly and goofy. I love to play. I also know some of that "wise from the years" comes from a few experiences that may or may not have been the result of mature decisions..ha!

I forget how old I am all the time, not because I am trying to avoid it, but honestly as it is just not really relevant to how I feel or carry myself in life. I do know I am very comfortable in my skin and where I am at. The decisions in my life are made the same way - by going with what is comfortable or right for me and without much concern about what I "should" be doing at my age, or where I "should" be in life at my age. I have made plenty of mature choices, and immature choices, over my 30 years on this planet and had lots of mature experiences, and immature experiences, lots of mature fun and immature fun.....and not necessarily correlated to the age I was at.

I think I can even go so far as to say I disagree with the whole notion of "acting" like anything....never mind your age! I just am well...me. So....I am not even sure how to answer this question really!

I don''t know what age I "post." I''m 28. I would imagine I ''sound'' a lot younger. I do IRL as well. The are a lot of posters here that I think are either younger or older than they really are.

There are some in this thread that are shocking me with their ages right now! LOL

I''ve always been mature for my age so even though I''m older I feel ancient.

I don''t act like others my age, no. I''m inappropriate, immature and funloving. I don''t filter my thoughts or words sometimes. Life is short.

I have no idea.

I''m 29.

My family and close friends would say I act like a small child. My students would say I act like an older person. And I have no idea how I come across in posts.

I was surprised to learn that heraanderson and I are close in age. She always sounds so wise, and I thought she was older than I am until I recently read otherwise.

Well, most of you are younger than I thought. But then, I tend to feel like I''m really young around here, and that everybody is older and wiser. I have no idea what age I "post", but I turn 24 this month.

I''m 35. I only think I act it when I''m in mom-mode w/the kids. Otherwise, I think I act like a kid. I still love to color, I love cartoons, I like to play on the playground. Lord knows my face still breaks out like a teenager. So long as people don''t think I *look* my age, I don''t care if they don''t think I act my age.

Do I act my age? Hmmmm? Well let''s see. Sunday I was acting more like my age than I was on Saturday night when I went out dancing and stayed out until 3:00am.

I''m 34. I don''t have kids, so I probably take advantage of freedoms that people my age with kids don''t have, but... other than that, I think I act my age.
