Wedding Do I keep looking?

As I mentioned in a different post, I found my wedding dress. Most girls have told me they tried on tons of dresses before they found the one. I only tried on about 5. Am I doing myself a diservice by choosing it s quickly?

I really feel like I could not imagine myself looking any differently then I did in the dress I chose. I just want to make sure I'm not missing out on something.

How many dresses did you ladies try on before you found the one?

I tried on/held up about the same amount as you..so no I don''t think so. If you''re happy with your gown, no reason to reconsider! For some people they buy the first one they try on, not everyone has to go through trying 20292092 dresses (not that there''s anything wrong with that either).

I tried on MANY dresses.... maybe 50? I fell in love with a couple of them but I''m glad I kept looking because the one I chose (almost last to try on) was perfect for me. If you KNOW its the one for you, then don''t worry... different people have different experiences.

I bought the third dress I tried on, and received lots of compliments on it during the wedding. Sometimes you just know.

I think I went to 4-5 different bridal salons to try on dresses, so I probably tried on close to 35 or 40 gowns all told.

You're the one from CA who has to go to NYC to buy your dress, right? If that's the case, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't look around a bit more before you leave for your NYC trip. I mean, if you don't find anything else you like better it will just confirm that the Amsale gown is "the one". But if you do find something you like better, then you'll have an even more fabulous gown and won't have to spend the money to to go NYC! A win-win situation in my book.

So, look around as much as you want before you buy a gown. It's just after you've bought a gown that you need to stop looking because that's when you get in trouble!!

I think you could look around a little more--no reason not to, really. I was between two dresses and really thought I was going to buy one of them when I went into another bridal shop on a whim, where I tried on and found my perfect dress, which was very different from the ones I had tried on. I'm so happy I went into that store!

Unless you're 100% positive you want the current favorite, I don't think it would hurt to visit a few more stores. Don't forget to take lots of pics if you do

ETA: I tried on about 50 dresses between five shops.

I tried on well over 100-150 dresses and never found "the one". If you like the dress and can picture yourself getting married in it, go for it.

I know how you feel b/c I only tried on about 8 gowns. I purchased the first one I tried on and just tried on the rest to "make sure." I am a very indecisive person in general and feel that I need to see every option in the whole world before I can decide, but with my gown it just worked out this way.

I''ve never tried on wedding dresses, so i am not sure, but i know my sister and many friends of mine have bought one of the first three they tried on...and they never regretted it!

I tried on THREE dresses, in under an hour on an impulse rush to David''s Bridal while on a family vacation.... and didn''t do any dress shopping after that. Three months later, i bought a sample dress off of ebay & LOVED it when I got it. Designer name, unbelievable price & NO regrets!!

I tried on like 15 dresses and still didn''t think I found "the one". It is up to you though. If you feel deep in your heart that dress is the most awesome dress in the world, I would go for it. I didn''t get that feeling with any of the ones I tried on which is why I am still looking.

I tried on about 15 dresses before finding the one. I tried to try on different silhouettes and styles so that I felt I had done a thorough enough search. But...part of me still just wants to try on dresses for fun

I went to a few salons before I found the one. Bridal Salon at Saks, Priscilla of Boston in ATL, Kleinfeilds, Anne Barge in ATL... I had Anne Barge make me a custom gown. I loved it and it was perfect for me, until I gained 50 lbs in the last 6 months. Whoops! So last month I went back to Kleinfeilds tried on three dresses and had the third rushed...It was a much quicker experience but both were fine.
I just picked up dress number two yesterday and it is waiting patiently for me to get married on Sat.


Point is buy what makes you happy. If it fits you, your location, and your budget why waste time looking for something else?

I went to 4 salons and tried on 5-10 dresses at each. Many of them were "oh, what the heck" dresses, though -- I was pretty sure I wouldn''t like them but tried them for the sake of saying I''d looked at a variety of styles. In the end, I bought a dress that I had LOVED when I saw it on the designer''s website before I ever started trying them on, but only the last salon had the sample of it. I''d always had a feeling that if I tried it on, I''d end up getting it, which is exactly what happened

I''m glad I tried on a bunch of dresses, but more because I had fun with it than because I think I would have ended up with a different dress.

The first dress I saw was the one I bought! I found it the day after I got engaged...my mom and I just went to "look" I saw it in the window and knew it was the one! My dress Assistant made me try on about 8 others and each one I put on for a second and was like...nope it''s the first one. I fell in love with it and felt amazing!

I tried on about 8-10 dresses at 4 different places. It was so much fun, but in all honesty, it was hard to keep track of my ''favorite'' dresses at each store. My mom would say, "What about the dress with the lace detail at ______ store?" and I would say, "Which one?" I would always forget the special details about specific dresses!

In the end, I picked the last dress I tried on at the last store. My 2 best friends were with me and I knew it was "The One" when I didn''t want to take it off or try on anymore dresses!

I was a bridal consultant at a salon for about a year and you would not believe how common it is for a bride to go with the first or second dress she tries on! When you know, you know. However, it seems that you are a little unsettled about making such a big decision without confirming your feelings by trying on less superior dresses. You need to be comfortable with your decision, even if you love that particular dress. You certainly don''t want any doubts. That being said, if you feel you need to try on more simply because you think it''s the norm to try on hundreds of dresses, I can tell you there were countless brides who tried on only a handful and still went with their gut.

Tried on about 40 dresses.

Try on as many as you need to feel you are making the right decision. Sometimes you have to know what you don''t want to confirm you have gotten what you want... and not to end up as the multiple dress buyer. Do your due diligence and then be happy with your decision.

I think I tried on about 12 dresses. I ended up buying the first one that I ever tried on. I gave myself a one week deadline because I was in the middle of exams and huge projects at work. I went to 4 different bridal shops and the last stop happened to give me a great deal on the dress that I loved.

Don''t second guess yourself. If you love a dress, then just stop. If you don''t love any of the dresses you tried on, then keep going. There''s nothing wrong with trying on just one or two dresses before purchasing. There''s also nothing wrong with trying on 200 dresses (as long as you have the time and energy) if you don''t find one you really love!

There''s another bride on here who recently posted her dress...and I think she had tried on 50 dresses or so before finally finding the one - a gorgeous Jasmine bridal gown.
