Directv receiver/HD question

Hi all! My contract with Directv is up (well, was up in November). I am going to call them and get back into a contract to lower my rate, but I also want to upgrade my equipment. They offer the whole house DVR thing for free to new customers right now...that's where you can record something on any tv and watch it on any other tv. It requires a fancy DVR/receiver for the main tv, then just HD receivers for the other TVs.

Here's my question- the tv in our bedroom isn't HD, it's just a normal tv. Not caring about actually viewing anything in HD (let's be real, it will mainly be me watching high quality stuff like Teen Mom or Dance Moms, stuff my husband doesn't want to watch), does anyone know if the HD receiver will work with a non-HD tv?

Yes, yes, I realized I could call Directv, but I'm at work and don't feel like dealing with them right now.

I think I found the answer, which is yes. Whew.

Now, if anyone has any tips on sweet talking the satellite company, I'd love to hear it. I think I'm going to call and tell them I want to cancel, then see what they offer me. I know I could go to AT&T Uverse or Dish or cable and get all sorts of free equipment and reduced rates....which would be great, except I really do want to stay with DirectTV. Right now they are offering (to new customers) free equipment plus reduced rates locked in for two years (normally one on new contracts). That's what I want :)

Actually, our regular tv does NOT work with the HD dvr/receiver that sends out the recorded stuff. It only works with HD televisions/receivers. At least, that's the way ours is. We've been in contract with them for a year and a half so our stuff can't be that outdated. I pay $7 for DVR, then $3 for it to be accessible to the other t.v.'s in the house. I also had to buy HD receivers($99) for each tv that was HD because the regular receivers gave horrible picture quality with an HD t.v.
