I have been posting about my breast difficulties. Today we did needle biopsies. It went great. The doctor was so good and I was really impressed.

She got the spots she needed and told me right there they were benign. I asked for a sample to go to pathology just to double check, but I felt good about it. I could watch the needle go into the spots right on the ultrasound monitor. It was very 'interesting' if it weren't happening to me!!

Anyhow, the great news is that behind those cysts, they found nothing. The nodules that looked solid melted away. There are no guarantees on anything, but this is much better than it could have been.

I still need excisional surgery and that will happen hopefully soon. But we did catch a break today amidst all the chaos. Nice.

Beacon, that is such great news! Now go out and celebrate and buy yourself something nice!

We are still at this and it''s not over. There can still be bad stuff. They are doiing a formal study of my old MRI and if they cannot make sense of it, we have to do a new MRI. Plus, the excision could show some bad stuff.

Who knew that finding cancer was so difficult? I used to think you either had breast cancer or you didn''t and it was just like that. Now I know that it is darned hard to figure it out sometimes.

This has been a remarkable journey so far and the PS fellowship has been unbelieveably helpful to me. I thank each one of you, from my heart.

Mary

EGADS! to the ongoing saga. But... does it mean it can't be too far along (assuming it is cancer) if it's this difficult to identify?

BTW I had my first mammogram in... oh, three or four years?... this morning. Your experience pushed me out of complacency.

Thanks, I think.
