I'm amazed that the jewelry store was so lax in their store design. I would think that they would have a closed off area to show people the more expensive goods, like a private room or something. They can display it in the front, but they should ask people to wait in a private room, behind a locked door, before letting them touch the stuff.
But a 4 CARAT diamond just handed over to anybody that shows up? Seriously?
I think some of the blame belongs to the store. Most of the pricey diamond retailers that I've seen go so far as to have a vestibule that automatically locks at the touch of a button.
I agree that the company set them selves up for this.To show a 4 ct. diamond at an open door to a mall is security poor! They should have required identification, moved the stone to the inside of the store or viewing area ...anything better then this.Bet their insurance company drops them after this for neglect!
