I was so disappointed! My custom Whiteflash eternity is less than three months old, and when I looked down at my hand yesterday, I noticed that one of the 8 point diamonds was gone

I couldn''t believe it, because I hadn''t dropped the ring, or hit my hand against anything - it just fell out! I scoured the house and car, but couldn''t find it anywhere. I called WF, and they had me send it back to them immediately - I Fedexed it back to them last night. Hopefully it won''t be too long until I get it back ...

Have any of you guys ever lost a stone out of a shared prong ring? I''ve heard of it happening with pave, but not shared prong. I thought shared prong was supposed to be a sturdy design ...

vesper, I''m SO sorry! You must have been so disappointed and sad and a little angry. I have two shared prong bands and thankfully, nothing has happened to either one so far. Hopefully Whiteflash will work on your ring as soon as they receive it and you''ll have it back in your hands again very soon.

The only person I know of that lost a stone out of her shared prong eternity is my PCP''s secretary. She had a gorgeous .15 pt per stone full eternity custom made for her anniversary and she lost a stone too.

oh no, I''m sorry this happened, I remembered that your ring had to remade and now this. I hope you get it back soon.

aw I would be so sad!!
lets hope you get the fixed ring back in a jiffy

That''s a bummer Versper. I am sure they will get it back to you asap!!

sorry this happened vesper...

I''m sure you''ll get it back in no time at all

Awh, I''m sorry a stone fell out. It is a shock.

I lost a stone from my WF diamonds for eternity and I was so sad too

What a disappointment. At least they are fixing it promptly for you.

Thanks guys - I know it''s not that big of a deal, but I know that my fellow PSers would understand my being a little disappointed.

Now I totally don''t want to vacuum my house - it breaks my heart to think about that gorgeous little H&A diamond going into the garbage somewhere! Since I''ve looked everywhere & can''t find it, I''m kind of hoping it fell out on the sidewalk or something & someone found it who will give it a good home

That really sucks. I have a shared prong eternity, and I''ve lost 2 diamonds out of it. One came out when I was swimming, the other, I don''t know. What a bummer!

Oh no, Vesper! I''m sorry that happened.

My e-ring and wedding band are both shared-prong eternity bands, but I''ve never lost a stone out of either one. I did chip one in my e-ring a long time ago, but I banged it into something really hard and knew that was likely.

Do you take your ring in to a local jeweler to get it checked regularly? I go in every few weeks to have mine cleaned and the prongs checked, just in case.

I hope you get your ring back really soon!

That is so sad!! However, stuff like this must make you happy that you went with WF as they replace it pretty fast (so I hear) and with no questions.

I wish sometimes I lived in the states so that I wouldn''t stress so much about my rings - if something fell out it would be a difficult hassle to get that kind of service. Sigh.

Good news is when you get it back it will feel brand new as they will likely polish it etc. :-)

Boo hoo! I hope they fix and send it back quickly.

Ditto. I have a shared prong ring that I''ve worn for the past 15 years and it''s still going strong. It wasn''t even an expensive ring.

I hope you and your ring are reunited soon. I feel your loss

but all will be well again soon

Wow, that sucks! I hope WF didn''t make the ring poorly.

Hopefully it''ll be fixed in no time.

Sorry to hear that but I''m sure WF will have it back in a jiffy. I hope you enjoy the weekend and don''t just spend it looking for the stone, though it''s understandable.

Aww. That''s too bad. WF will fix it, though. They are very good about that sort of stuff.

I am sorry to hear that but I am sure WF will get it fixed up for you soon.

oh, i'm so sorry this happened vespergirl and i totally feel your pain! i'm happy that WF is taking care of it for you though and i'm sure you'll get your baby back soon.

i believe shared prong designs are more sturdy than pave. i think what happened with your ring was that there could've been some metal residue from polishing that got stuck under the prong, and that residue came out after cleaning which might have loosened your stone out of it's seat. i could be completely wrong, but that's the only scenario i can think of since you didn't drop or hit it.

i recently lost a 5 pointer in my single shared prong eternity. strangely enough, it happened while i was leaving a Gem Show but BF did find the stone on my car seat (he's got amazing eye-sight). sadly, this is the 2nd stone that has popped out over the course of 2 years. for my ring, i don't think it's metal residue or the craftsmanship since i have to admit that i am pretty rough with my hands at work and i don't check the prongs regularly either.

in the end, i decided to reset my stones in a bezel eternity. i am a little bummed out about the reset since i LOVE the single shared prong look, but i know this will be more practical for me in the long run.

again, i'm sorry it happened...it really is horrifying when you discover a stone is gone!

Oh no, that is a shame. Your ring is on its way to being good as new, though!

So sorry to hear this - hope it''s fixed and back in no time.

I am so sorry to hear about this.

My wedding band is a shared prong. Within the first year, I lost a stone and was heart broken. When I took it back to the jeweler, his response was ''this type of setting shouldn''t be worn daily.'' This infuriated me!! Umm, hello - who doesn''t wear their wedding band daily! Why sell them!
I had to have the band remade, to make a long story short. It''s been nearly 4 years since, and so far so good. Although some of the prongs are going crooked on me... It does make me nervous.

I''m looking forward to replacing this band with a channel set band. It won''t be for a while though but I think this band will last until then...

Best of luck to you, I am so sad to hear of this and hope you have your ring back soon.
