In 10 years, do you think the diamond circle of life pendants will have gone the same way as those ''80s yellow gold herringbone chains, DATED??

Classic and here to stay?

Trendy and will be dated in the near future?

Personally I think they''re trendy.

Personally, I think they started dipping in popularity several years ago. And might now even be out of style entirely. But I also don''t really care about that. I''m sure my Tiff heart pendant would fall into the same category of "over" but I still wear it because it was a gift and I''ve grown attached to it. It is another thing to buy something NEW that is already a bit dated. But if you like it & aren''t attracted to the "trendy" nature of things to begin with - go for it.

OK, trendy as in still nice or trendy as in bad ''80''s huge chunk yellow gold jewelry?

Sort of inbetween IMO. Like Journey pendants. It''s not that they''re tacky or anything, they''re just so over done in advertising.

I think they have already run their course, to be honest (and hopefully not to offend).

Just like the journey pendant, or the "past present future" pendant of a few years back...they are lovely but they oversaturated the market with them, and then fizzled and faded. I agree with PP that they will never be tacky or distasteful...but they aren''t going to be popular or timeless. You''ll see a woman wearing one someday and think "2005" or "2007" or "2009"....unlike a solitare diamond on a chain that will always a staple of a healthy jewelry box.

they were sooo trendy for a time, and i agree they have fallen in popularity, i hardly ever see them now. i got one a few years ago and never wear it. but if you love it, who cares, buy it, wear it, enjoy it!

As people replace fantasy with reality I predict the diamond pendant of the future will be the line segment of life.

It will be a horizontal straight line representing the beginning, the duration and the end of life.

the diamond circle will and has already fallen off in popularity. In our over branded society most new styles are short lived in their life spane...each christmas season gives birth to the new and also kills last years fashion! Its all in the advirtising!By the way...the tiffany heart is never dated...its a true classic ...and there are hundreds of links avaliable for gold chains...herringbone is one of the many that has been around for many decades...its a classic link and should not be considered dated ...just one of the many options available in jewelry.Everything new under the sun has usually been new more then one time.cant think of one new trend that hasnt come from another time or decade!

+1.

We tend to fall a little behind on the trends down here at the bottem of the world (New Zealand) so I don''t think these pendants have quite gone out of style yet but they''re teetering on the edge.

I think they''re definatly trendy but I don''t see them become as unfasionable here as they may eventually be considered elsewhere. The problem is compared to similar ctw necklaces, they''re cheap. Diamonds over here are soooo expensive that for many people a classy solitaire pendant (which will cost thousands if you actualy want to be able to see the diamond) is not an option. Instead you can put down 3 or 4 hundred dollers and get something much larger and more substantial then any solitaire necklace of the same price.
Also, peoples tastes here in clothing, jewlery etc are much less trendy then many other western countires. New Zealanders tend to prefer to by classic peices rather then the latest fashion. Most New Zealand retail stores know this and stock may classic items, some with a slightly trendy twist but not so much as you couln''t wear the item when that trend was ''out''. Stores for young people are the ones stocking all the lastest trends as it seems much ore important to teens then adults here to be in fashion. People would have bougt this necklace if they liked it, and some would buy it because it was ''in'' but many of those people will still like it and wear it when it''s no longer cool enough to attract the attention of teenage girls.

Interesting question.

I think that yes, the *interest* is fading in that style... but whether or not the necklace is classic and rather timeless depends (to me) on the quality of the melee.

Mall quality, tiny little dead diamonds... no thanks!

But if I had a killer circle pendant, made with sparkling little melee like ACAs

... I''d wear that thing proudly forever!

Sure, that style will evoke memories of this decade. Just like the ''journey'' necklaces. Just like halo rings. Just like diamond heart pendants remind us of the 1980s.

But, if you like the style, wear it. Now and tomorrow.

Remember, all styles are eventually revisited, revamped, reworked into today''s trends. Look at the return of platinum, cushion cuts, Asschers, OECs, etc. Whether they look Art Deco, or Edwardian, they''re back in all their reinterpreted glory. As are the Victorian-esque rings in the Van Craeynest collections; they remind me of the styles which were popular in the 1970s.

I agree that everything comes in cycles and goes in/out of style. Also I don't believe in following trends. What's the point? Wear something because you love it and who cares if it's in style. As for the circle of life pendant I think it's classic.

Trendy.

I always stick to classics so I can wear them forever!

trendy

Maybe trendy, but it doesn''t bother me.
