Diamond abuse!?!

What people want to do to their diamonds is their own stupidity, but when they start abusing mine, I get oooooooogly! I can''t tell you how many times someone has gone, ''Let me see your ring'' then proceeded to plop their thumb right on top of my stone. This generally leads to me going, ''This is not a crime scene! I don''t need yo'' prints, fool!''

Ack!!! I hate this!! My family does this! It''s like they have to run their finger over it to feel it or something. And it happens so quickly that it''s done before I can even stop it!!!

I now tend to give engaged friends a US as a gift so I don''t feel grrr everytime I see their stones.

This is BRILLIANT, Pandora! I don''t know why the thought never occurred to me to buy my friends a U/S since all my married/engaged friends always use mine, but I think I may have to do that as a birthday gift for all of them! Even if you didn''t want to take your ring off, couldn''t you at least dip a cotton swab in jewelry cleaner and give it a swipe?!?! Sheesh!

I get OCD about it. I LOOOOOVE it after I''ve cleaned it in the U/S. So pretty and sparkly and clean and bright!! It stays pretty clean throughout my general days - I take it off for cooking, working around the house, showers, and bed.

I had to wear sunscreen to the air show this past weekend. I put my ring on last before we left - after applying sunscreen and everything. But the moment I crossed my arms, I KNEW I''d dirtied it already. By the end of the day, I couldn''t STAND what it looked like - so cloudy.

Just from stupid sunscreen.

Not just cleaning abuse but the type of abuse that isnt correctable...have had more then a few clients who store ALL of thier jewelry in a zip lock bag,in the bottom of their purse, or in a cigar box.Had aclient several years ago who kept her southseas pearls,antique ruby stickpin byTiffany &Co., a 3 carat engagement ring and 14karat herringbone chains crammed in a zip lock bag along with every other piece of jewelry she owned at the bottom of her bag.Wheres the jewelry police!

Oh yes! I actually had a diamond sales woman who was being really rough with the stones she was showing me. One of the loose stones got stuck in the setting I was looking at and she did her best to pry it out with the little tweezers...poking at it, tapping it hard across the table, scrapping its pavilion. I know diamonds are touch cookies but this lady was taking it a little too far. I definitely decided not to buy from her. It was truly painful to watch.

Poor diamond!!

I know and you don''t even want to KNOW the things that have been on my ring. *shudders* I am nervous to put my ring in my u/s (I lost a melee before) so that is my excuse.

violet3, I guess I am busy cleaning other things. I don''t even wear my rings around the house anymore so I forget or am in a hurry to "escape" I just throw them on. Plus DD LOVES playing with it and gets her finger prints all over the table.

gecko, yes, it is true. I am ashamed.

Octavia, then I am in good company. I wish they would not only CLEAN my jewels but take some decent pictures. Haha.

Selkie, more like months for me. Opps. But we have a GTG tomorrow so it will get cleaned tomorrow for sure!
