I''ve been a little MIA from PS for a while because DH and I have been househunting in the midwest where we are going to move once my grad school is complete and DH gets his job transfer. We both love lofts that are historic and converted from old factory buildings and we found one that we love. It has the wood beam and brick we were looking for.

Anyone want to see some pics???!!! DH and I are beyond thrilled!

Decor advice is more than welcome, we are already brainstorming but will probably live in the space for a while before doing anything. We are thinking of converting the large hallway into a bedroom with a wood sliding door system so that it''s not completely closed off to the living room, but adds an additional private space as a guestroom/office.

Here is the large hallway leading to the living/dining room. We are thinking of adding a bedroom in the hallway (left side), opening up the kitchen a little more removing the cabinets closest to the deck, and putting the dining room table by the deck.

other part of living room, this part may actually be the dining room

Now that is some pretty wood, girl!!!

Nice!!

Awesome Home! looks fantastic! congrats.

living room (dining room) looking into kitchen. This is where we may want to open up the kitchen and remove those cabinets so that the kitchen is more open concept into the dining/lliving area. We could add in some shelving on the left side of the removed cabinets to make up for the lost storage.

Here is the kitchen.

Bedroom off to the back. It''s actually pretty big, but you don''t get any sense of scale from the pics. One of the doors is a bathroom and the other is a big walk-in closet. I have no idea how to decorate this space since some of the walls have strange angles, but we''ll figure it out.

The bathroom in the bedroom. There is also a half-bath in the hallway.

The view. Part of it is a parking lot, but at least we don''t have a view of another building straight on. Can anyone name the historic building or city in the view???

By the way, for anyone following old threads...the other loft we were interested in didn''t work out (short sale), but luckily we saw this one and loved it more when we visited!

Congrats K!! We are in the process too-it''s a huge time suck!

I think that is Minneapolis maybe?

OMG I LOVE IT!!!!!! It''s really fantastic, congratulations to you both!

I LOVE it!! What a great space!

I lived in a loft temporarily for a few months last year between houses. It was a converted Triumph motorcycle warehouse. We really liked living there- I''d do it again. It didn''t have quite the level of detail that yours has, yours is really sweeeeeeet. I am super jealous of your kitchen. I want to see pictures after you move in!!

I LOVE it!!!! It is amazing - very airy but still looks homey, you know?

Even if you take down those cupboards, I think you will still have lots of space for your kitchen stuff.

Looks beautiful! I love the idea of opening up the kitchen (only consideration would be if the kitchen tends to get messy, maybe it''s better to keep it more enclosed, but if it''s usually neat then I think it''s a great idea!)

Congrats; it is gorgeous!!! I love the huge kitchen, the floors and the exposed brick (super cool)!!! Fabulous new place!!

Thank you! We are both big fans of the wood too! We looked all over at lofts and ours just had to have the big beams. To me it''s not really a loft without them. I like that the place has some historic original detail despite the modern appearance.

Ding Ding Ding!!! It is Minneapolis!!

I noticed your inspection thread, congrats on the new digs to you as well!! Are you still in Madison? And yes, this is all definitely a huge time suck. Although it''s very fun and exciting, I''ve hardly gotten any work done these days. When we were waiting for counteroffers I would just pace around the house waiting for the phone to ring. Now I''m spending entirely too much time looking at pictures of lofts online to get ideas.

There will definitely be some more pictures later on when we have some decor figured out, happy to share! It may be a while though, since we really don''t have any money left after the downpayment lol.

Do you have any pictures of your rental loft? It sounds fab, I''d love to see it.

That was my thought too. I love the homey kitchen. It''s an interesting mix of contemporary and traditional, but somehow it works. Good to hear you think we''ll have enough space after getting rid of a few cabinets. I think we will too, mostly because we are living with half as many right now! I think it will really open things up nicely, but DH is still on the fence. I think we are going to wait a while and live in it and see what our needs/wants are.

WOW! That is an awesome place! Congrats!

love it! congrats!

Yeah! I thought so. I love Minneapolis-my DH was born there. We are still in Madison now but our new place (assuming the contractor doesn''t think the foundation has problems-fingers crossed!) is outside of San Francisco. We''re doing the opposite of you-Midwest to the West Coast!

What a great loft! Congratulations!

May you make many wonderful memories there.

This place looks great! Congratulations on your new home!

Well...one of us is clean at least ;). I think we can at least keep it picked up most of the time, but probably not scrubbed down clean all the time. It will be nice to have a dishwasher that finally works, so that should help.

I wish there was a way to tell what it would look like before doing it with some sort of online simulation or something. My mom liked the idea though and she has a great eye.
