Just checked out the other thread. Your house calls out for mythical. I think that will look great on it!

Thanks guys!! I posted some door choices back over at the original thread.

TG: I''m sorry about your purple teacher. She ruined a perfectly fine color for you. SAD!

While I think that purple is a great accent colour, but not one for almost the entire house, I voted mythical - it''s the least offensive to my eyes which tend to bleed when purple is spotted.

I have to say, though, that Deco''s house is so cute, any colour would probably be fine. Painted purple, it will add that rather broad hint of snark that our Deco shows us from time to time.

One question, though, how are purple houses for resale value?

You can paint over things if it''s important to do so - the more important thing is living now! And you''re right... that spark that deco has will shine and everyone will know she had the guts to do it :)

Mythical!!!!!!! I admit, I was skeptical, but after seeing it on the house, I''m sold!

As far as resale goes...if you were choosing siding color and planning on moving in a few years, I''d be steering you towards something...less funky, shall we say. Tho, I''d prolly still be slobbering over the orange door idea. Siding, to me, is a bit more permanent than paint in that it''s waaaay more expensive to change if the people looking at your house don''t like it. We looked at houses sided in white, generally a safe color, when we were house hunting, and they got big roll eyes and "oh gawwwd it''s white!". Paint at least is an easy fix. Purple is certainly going to be something househunters remember eh?

Mythical with the red door. I just love it. It looks so welcoming and you could really play up the landscaping with that for your back drop.

If I had to pick one I would pick mythical, but wish it had a touch more blue. I liked the mockup with white shutters and red door. Green is my favorite color but just don''t like the green with the purple, too much going on. I really like the red door. I would almost go so far to say if I ever painted my house purple, I would have to go with a red door.

My favorite combination in island dreams list was the pale lavender gray with purple shutters. I still like purple more as an accent than a main color, but you go girl! If any house can do it, it''s the "painted ladies" aka wooden victorian style houses. There is a house near us that is pink with white trim, and I love it! It looks as delicious as a wedding cake.

I know what you mean. Its funny though because it *LOOKS* more blue -- bordering on hydrangea blue/grey on the tester board and in some lights -- then in other lights it looks more purpley/lavender. In highschool I had this color shifting lipstick that was like that -- some lights it had blue undertones & in some lights, red? I kinda think this paint is that way -- which I actually like. Very expensive paints (Farrow & Ball, Donald Kaufman) have lots and lots and lots of different colors in them to make them this way - mysterious. This color kinda has that quality w/o being a $100/a gallon designer mix. At least to my eye.

I love to look at wedding cake houses! That pink one must be fun to go by often. I''d swoon living in San Francisco or a beach community or directly in Woodstock really. There''s one house I love with a neutral khaki-ish tan all over but pale ice blue door/shutters & ice blue numbers hanging out front from a pole. Its so eye catching yet sophisticated & well thought out. The colors wouldn''t work here because of the surrounding houses but I always admire their panache.

I voted Plummy because I like the depth of the color. That being said, I really like Mythical as well and think either one would be fabulous. I''m so excited you''re taking the plunge and painting it purple. I like the teal door you had on the door color composition in the other tread, by the way. I''m a teal/aqua freak though, so take that with a grain of salt.

On a totally random side note, when I moved cross-country a few years ago, I looked at houses on-line before I came to look for real. I was in love with this little purple house. I got here and it''s been painted cream and I was soooooo sad. It didn''t fit my needs for other reasons, but I really liked that little purple house.

Ditto, love the color of Mythical!

(Purple is my fave color... cant wait to see pictures of your purple house!!!!!)

Mythical with the bottom red door. The orange door screams "fall", the red door is all season.
